Guest guest
Hi all, This bedwetting reminds me of Hubby. He was still having accidents until his Dr did a Bladder stretch on him. This helped for some time. BUT he still had Accident's. About 10 yrs ago he woke up and I guess sleep walked into Our Son's bedroom. Mistakely he made a Left instead of a Right lolol. Turned to the corner just as if he was turned around in the house. lololol. He peed all over our son's Back pack with ALL of his homework in it. Ummm I heard the sprinkling and went to see what was leaking and I be dang if he was asting as though that back pack was the toilet. lololololol. Our son wouldn't touch his Back Pack at all when he came back. He even told his Teacher what had Happened. She excused the situation. She called me and I said he is not lying about that lololol. But hubby said everytime he dreams he is Fishing he will have a accident. Also if he watches Fire lololol. Very True. Even when we are Grilling out if he watches that Fire that night he will have a Accident. lololol. Ummmmm He did it to me once and tried to blame it on me. He sleeps in his recliner most of the time now. lololol Robbin
Guest guest
In my quick search of the archives, I came across this post regarding bedwetting. My son, who is 6 1/2 has been wetting the bed almost constantly. We've gone through a few dry spells. We had him in the nighttime pull-ups until last year when we threw in the towel on that...he peed through them...waste of money. and his younger brother was getting through the night dry and I think it was a hit to 's confidence to have to wear diapers. So now, we take him to the bathroom at 11:00 before we go to bed and he usually makes it through to the morning. There are plenty of nights, however, when he is already soaked at 11:00. He goes right before bed at about 8:00-8:15, so we're not talking about a long period of time. Interestingly, we went on a cruise over the holidays. One night, after we had been swimming in the ocean all day, he had a really wet night. He peed before bed. Had already gone when we woke him at 11:00. Went again in the potty at 11:00. Peed the bed again by morning. And then got up and went in the potty again. (Not fun in a tiny little ship cabin!). Our immediate thought was that he was drinking ocean water all day, but we quickly realized that he had a life-jacket on all day...his head never went under water. Could the ocean water have caused him to detox, like an epsom salt bath would? I don't think it's related to too much fluid. He doesn't down a big glass of water before bed or anything. i should look into which foods are diuretics. and i'm hoping that someone can explain why mercury toxicity might cause this. I remember our former DAN! doc saying that night was the body's time to detox...which is why she didn't want us dosing him up with supps before bed. Is that what's going on here? Thanks! Guest guest
My son is 11 also and he wets his bed. I have talked to many doctors about this and they all have given me the same answers....it happeneds. My son doesn't have JRA but does have ADHD and other labels. I finally gave up asking about it and finally one doctor put him on some meds to stop it. It was very hard to find a doctor that would give me something. His self esteem went up and no more wet underwear every morning. I was washing his sheets daily. They put him on Oxybutynin (Ditropan) and Desmopressin (DDAVP). Guest guest
Good for your ped, because it is very hard to find an insurance company that will pay for the meds after a certain age or before a certain age. ________________________________ From: " HLHSINFO@... Guest guest
Hi Everybody, Thanks for the responses regarding the bedwetting. I really do think this is a separate issue, but I needed to ask just in case. Jo > > I don't think it was related to JRA but such a sound sleeper. wet the bed > until 8 to 9 yrs old . Guest guest
I have a best friend who is 13 and still wets the bed.I have known her since we were both 3. She gets very embarrassed and i am one of the only people that know about it outside of her family. Once she wet the bed when she slept over at my house and she cried because she felt so bad about it. She tries not to drink or eat anything at least 2 hours before bedtime. But she still has to wear pull ups and has a waterproof mattress pad. She also tries to set her alarm clock for in the middle of the night so that she can get up and use the restroom. Most of the time it has to do with age and deep sleeping. My friend went to her doctor to see if she had an overactive bladder or something. But she her doctor assured her that she just sleeps VERY deeply. Like no joke. Once when I was at her house we had taken a daytime nap and when I woke up I tried everything to get her up. Screaming her name gently poking her, poking her arm really hard, until finally I blasted her radio to wake her up. I know there are some places that sell watches and other devices that vibrate and remind kids to go to the restroom. It is a tricky thing to manage my friend has got hers under control with the occasional accident. Most of the time it is outgrown. Just like sleepwalking, there is a age where kids have weird sleep activity. Your best bet would be to visit a pediatrician. Maybe some of her medication causes frequent urination. Or maybe if she is on any sort of pain meds that could make her sleep deeper. I wish you the best of luck my friend has been trying to get it under control for a while Shea On Mar 25, 2011, at 9:25 PM, " P " <jobobperry@...> wrote: > Just curious if any of your kids wet the bed and if the doctor has said it could be related to the JRA? Guest guest
Thanks Shea, We've been to the pediatrician and the urologist. The urologist just wants to make sure she has regular bowel movements, drinks lots of water and goes to the bathroom every two hours during the day. (We have one of those vibrating watches to remind her) Although my daughter tries to comply, she is far from perfect and so far no luck and more wetting not less. Hopefully, this too will pass.
