Guest guest
Mother with MS Child near drown 2000- 2001 When I started the Hyperbaric Chamber at Rapid Recovery I had been diagnosed with Relapsing – Remitting Multiple Sclerosis for 23 years. I was taking Solu Medrol approximately every 3 to 4 months to keep my symptoms from acting up and just to have enough energy to get through the day. After 60 treatments in several months at the Rapid Recovery Center I have not taken another drug for almost a year. I didn’t realize how far down I had come until I felt better. I am sensate in parts of my body for the first time in years. M balance is considerably improved and my fine motor skills are considerably better. Overall I feel wonderful and you could not tear me away from Rapid Recovery, Dr Underwood’s and ’s expertise. While I was being treated we also put my 17 year old son in the chamber who was a near drowned when he was 2 ½ years old. He has been in special education his entire life and we wanted to see if this would help. He received the same amount of treatments as myself. His speech has improved noticeably as per his IEP at school at a much faster rate than in the past. Speech is on of his main problems as well as cognitive functions. Overall he has gone through a maturation that we hope will continue, and is now able to read 2 grades higher from last year meeting at school. But more noticeably we see improvement at home on “ Common Sense” issues that cannot be taken for granted with Special ed. Kids. Telly’s progress has been steady over these past 15 years. But it seems that the Hyperbaric Treatments have touched places that have not progressed, and accelerated the others. It is a wonderful non- invasive treatment for these special children and I would recommend Rapid Recovery Hyperbarics Highly. Sincerely, Mother of Telly [ ] autism Connor 3 years old Autism, Hypoplasia, Visually and Hearing delayed Dear : Thank God for the work that you and do for our kids! For those of you that do not know our story here goes. Our son Connor was born October 16, 1998. At birth he had respiratory distress and was in NICU for a week. The following are some of his diagnoses: 1. Visually and hearing impairment. 2. Developmental delay. 3. Sleep disorder. (Often sleeping only four out of twenty-four hours.) 4. Autism. 5. Hypoplasia (underdevelopment) of the white matter of his brain. 6. Multiple orthopedic malformations. 7. Chronic constipation requiring 1 or 2 enemas per week. 8. Tactile defensiveness. (doesn't like to be held or touched). We found and began Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments on 4-24-01 against the suggestions of many of Connor's doctors. He has seen almost 38 doctors and most of them felt that Hyperbarics was a waste of time and money. This is due to their inexperience with the field. They could not have been MORE WRONG! **After his very first treatment he ate 16 ounces of food. (his usual amount up to that time was 4 ounces per meal). He also slept 10 hours! This was the first time he had slept through the night in his life without drugs. It is now common for him to sleep through the night. **He now has regular bowel movements and has not required a single enema since the completion of his treatments. **He held his own bottle after only the third treatment and continues to hold it now. He is learning to self feed and holds his own spoon. **He is much happier and actually enjoys being held. He interacts with everyone in the family including his 6 year-old sister. **He now says " Momma " , " Dada " and of course every two year-old's favorite, " No! " . **He can now walk with a walker and has even taken a few steps on his own. His physical therapist is thrilled at his progress. **His vision and hearing have both improved dramatically. **He has grown four inches in height in the last six month. We realize that we still have much work ahead of us and plan on resuming our Hyperbaric treatments next month. But the improvements in Connor (and to our family) have been nothing short of a miracle) Thank you so much and for making us a part of your Hyperbaric " Family " . Sincerely, Peggy and Gregg Barrett To easily unsubscribe from this group, send mailto:medicaid-unsubscribe with no " signature " , no text in the body of your message and nothing in the subject line. Guest guest
March 2001 Fibromylgia and Osteoporosis The evening of December 19, 200 changed my life forever!! I had an appointment with Dr Underwood In, which my husband and I sat down with all my medical records. Dr Underwood and took the time to read all the results of the tests (and I mean TESTS, TESTS, and more TESTS). I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis (Brittle bone disease) with bone loss in my 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th disks in my neck. In other words, I had a pinched nerve in my 5th and 6th disk with swelling and inflammation, which caused me to lean to the right and forward with extreme pain running down my right arm. I was also extremely tired all the time, CFS. I was devastated How could I an active woman of only “55” be in this kind of pain and condition? I was active in our business, I garden, I shop and I am active in baby-sitting my “3” grandchildren. I also took all kinds of vitamins and at least 2,000mg of calcium per day. I thought I was protected against the evil disease “Osteoporosis” My life I thought was destroyed, or at least I thought. It had been a long road to this point in my life. I had been to doctors for several years before this night. In 1999, I had been diagnosed with “Tendonitis” or Tennis Elbow. I had Diarrhea, mood swings and pain all over my body. Every doctor I had been to simply want to give me Pain medicine and move on to the next patient. Dr Underwood spent over an hour reading my records. Dr Underwood spent hours with my husband and I explaining what he thought to be the health problem. He also ordered blood test I was given trigger point shots for the immediate pain in my neck area, a Neck collar, IV mega vitamins to replace Calcium/ Magnesium, Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy, Flosmax, and, Hormone replacements, and Thyroid Medicine. The Next morning I felt better than I had in weeks. Dr Underwood told me I was in menopause, with no estrogen, and low thyroid with the beginning of Osteoporosis. He gave me a plan to begin my road back to health! Dr Underwood explained neck exercises, and started me on small weights to improve the circulation in my arms, plus walking for at least 15 minutes daily. To date I have had four IV mega vitamins, Trigger point shots and 28 Hyperbaric Oxygen therapies, I am out of pain and I can now drive a car and feel better than I have in Years!! Thank you, Dr Underwood and for giving me back my life, and I am grateful to God for all that he has given me. Sincerely, Mrs. S. Blair CA. Guest guest
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Parenchymal Liver Disease. Bhattacharya M, Kumar PG, Sahni TK Dept of Medicine and Underwater Medicine, Naval Hospital, Asvini, Colaba, Bombay. Use and efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HOT) in liver disease has not been established. A prospective control study of HOT in liver diseases was undertaken. Sixty cases were selected for this study (30 with HOT and 30 with conventional therapy only). Almost equal number of Hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HbsAg) positive cases were included in both groups. All patients were male. Only cases with serum bilirubin over 10 mg/dl were included in this study. It was found that study cases recovered faster, gained appetite and had an earlier sense of well-being. There was faster disappearance of pruritus, earlier achievement of normal liver function, HbsAg negativity and overall shorter duration of hospital stay and convalescence. Short term adverse effects were unremarkable. Publication Types: Clinical trial Controlled clinical trial
Guest guest
Hi Kathy, The article below on Autism is from Shirley's Wellness Cafe. Take Care, Sharon Autism The Son-Rise Program In the early 1970’s the Kaufmans rebirthed their son, Raun, from the supposedly incurable illness of autism. At eighteen months, Raun was mute, totally withdrawn from all human contact and self-stimulating. His I.Q. tested at below 30. The prognosis: irreversible--leading to eventual institutionalization. Defying the experts and developing a program radically different than existing techniques for the treatment of children with Autism, the Kaufmans designed and implemented unique child-centered, home-based program for their son. Using a most loving and stimulating approach, they worked with their son twelve hours per day, seven days per week for over three years. When they finished, Raun was not only completely cured of autism, but had evolved into a highly verbal, extroverted, loving and brilliant young boy who demonstrated a near genius I.Q. and bore no traces of his original condition. Now a young adult, Raun graduated from high school with high honors (Cum Laude Society) and more recently graduated from a prestigious Ivy League university with a degree in biomedical ethics. The story of their family’s incredible journey was documented in the award-winning book and NBC-TV network movie, Son-Rise. Following their successful work with their own son, they helped other families learn and use The Son-Rise Program® with their special children. Son Rise book . .. Guest guest
So sad that the boy was put on Litium, a known toxic metallic salt that builds up in the body. The toxic dose is so close to the " therapeutic " dose. Sometimes, in the summer, people on Litium drop dead when they sweat too much and the body tries to metabolize the litium salts it's been storing in the fat tissue in order to replace the electrolytes lost by sweating. That, and the disregulation of the body's temperature controls from other psychiatric drugs lead to inmates in psychiatric hospitals and the elderly (another population heavily psychiatrically drugged) dropping like flies when a heat wave comes along. Psychiatry doesn't deal with real diseases--it's chemical behavior or mood control. Unfortunately, these chemicals can exact a very heavy price--movement disorders, heart problems, psychosis, diabetes, death. By current statistics ADULTS entering the public mental health system live 25 YEARS LESS than the rest of the population. We haven't had enough kids in there yet to find out what it does to their lifespan. I bet we'll have the bloody numbers within 15-20 years, due to the outrageous number of kids labeled and put on these drugs since the 1990s. Best, Cass A http://www.northernexpress.com/editorial/letters.asp?id=2479 Letters to the Editor: 5/24/07 Overdosed kids Re: " Are Kids Being Overdosed? " by Anne Stanton, May 17: To answer these questions one must consider that all physicians go to medical school where they study (1) all things physically normal, (2) all things physically abnormal - diseases - and (3) how to examine, image and chemically test the patient to tell the difference. All physicians (and this includes psychiatrists) know that in the specialty of psychiatry there are no actual physical abnormalities - diseases. Rather, abnormalities/diseases of the brain and nervous system are the province of the specialty of neurology -- things like strokes, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, brain tumors, etc, Abnormalities of the brain can be found on physical/neurological examination, brain scans and chemical tests. Such is not the case in psychiatry, where we deal with troubled emotions and troublesome behaviors-all subjective-but never with demonstrable, objective physical or chemical abnormalities. And no such thing as a " chemical imbalance " of the brain has ever been proven to exist in psychiatry. There is no justification to give " chemical balancers " -pills for psychiatry's " chemical imbalances " of the brain. They do not exist. Could it be this is all done for profit? It is for this reason that the first and only real abnormality/disease in any psychiatric patient is the intoxication/poisoning with the first psychiatric drug they are given to ingest or are injected with. This is why their second, fifth, seventh and tenth real diseases are their intoxications/poisonings with their second, fifth, seventh and tenth psychiatric drugs; not a single one of them targeting a predetermined physical abnormality/disease. This is why no psychiatric drug " treatment " has a scientific basis. Throughout the rest of medicine every " medicine " targets an abnormality in a scientifically designed manner: chemotherapy drugs preferentially targeting faster growing cancer cells; X-ray therapy targeting the faster growing cancer cells. Insulin, in diabetes, the shortage of insulin and elevated blood sugar level, antibiotics, the chemical life-cycles of infecting bacteria, etc. But not in psychiatry! What we start with in psychiatry is a physically normal individual, albeit one who is emotionally troubled, and perhaps, troublesome. What we do with psychiatric drugs is erase or obliterate their being troubled and troublesome and we invariably do so by giving them chemicals, all of which act by damaging the brain in diffuse, inexact ways. Like a machete, one science writer put it. No less than your children and grandchildren, or mine, what these children need is love, a home, parents, being protected, cared about, and cared for. Being a foster child is not a medical condition. And yet psychiatry has laid claim to between 60 and 90 percent of foster children nationwide, drugging them all, putting their final stamp on them-the conspicuous physical sequelae of their drugging/poisoning--things like the grotesque, uncontrollable movements of tardive dyskinesias, or of what looks for all the world like a typical case of advanced-age, Parkinson's disease, but for the fact it is seen in a five-year old-the handiwork of psychiatry. By rejecting the fact that these children need love, structure, discipline and an education, but instead, imposing a system that makes them profit-points and intoxicates and poisons them we will surely rue the day when, at 18 or 21, they age-out and spill out into society totally unloved, unprepared, full of the realization that this is what was done to them-this and only this. Their cost in terms of life-long disability will be but a fraction of the cost we will pay for having " pimped " them to the for-profit, psychiatry-big pharma cartel. In 2003, pediatrician Carey, of the Philadelphia Children's Hospital testified to Congress that 17% of US school-age children (8.5 million) were on one or more psychiatric drugs. Nor is this epidemic finite, like those of real, objectively verifiable diseases. Spending on all psychiatric drugs climbed from $7.9 billion in 1997 to $20 billion in 2004, an increase of more than 150 percent (The Washington Times, April 1, 2007). Nor does it stop. Nor does the victimization of normal, defenseless children stop. Nor is there anything in the least scientific, healing or ethical about it. Ask Sharfstein, president of the American Psychiatric Association for proof that even one psychiatric diagnosis is a real disease. On June 27, 2005, on the Today Show with Matt Lauer, he had no answer for ethical psychiatrist, Dr. ph Glenmullen, who had told the truth of the matter: that there were no such things as " chemical imbalances " of the brain-the sales pitch of every unethical medical practitioner who make this their justification for making " patients " (usually lifetime " patients " ) of normal children and drugging them. Fred A. Baughman, MD El Cahon, CA Dr. Baughman is author of " The ADHD Fraud--How Psychiatry Makes 'Patients' of Normal Children. " www.Trafford.com He was in the private practice of neurology and child neurology in Grand Rapids from 1964-1975 before relocating to San Diego, CA. Guest guest
In this article I will discuss what autism is and what some of the common misconceptions are concerning autism. Autism is a neurological disability that affects an individual's ability to communicate and socialize with others. They might also be experiencing issues with motor skills and processing information as well. Autism affects each child and adult differently. There is no such thing as typical Autism behaviors. The exact cause of Autism is not known. It is believed to be the result of abnormalities in the brain structure. Brain scans of individuals who have been diagnosed with Autism show such differences. It is also believed that heredity and genetics play a role in the development of Autism. Autism often occurs in those who have other medical issues including Fragile X Syndrome, Sclerosis, Rubella, and toxic diseases that are related to issues during the pregnancy. There is a debate that standard vaccinations can result in Autism as well. Regardless of the reasons behind Autism, there are some myths out there that result from uneducated individuals. This includes the idea that Autism is the result of poor parenting during the early years of a child's development. There is also the myth that Autism is a mental illness. There is no evidence to support that idea.... autismnvc
