Guest guest
I am trying to figure out the Vit D thing.....Since we live up north in the Pacific Northwest in a mountain valley....I am giving a fairly high dosage...to us all...... My question is how do I recognize toxicity. Hubby had his levels taken and it cost almost $300....and with no insurance.....and there are 8 of us....not possible....but I do know we are low....any input. Thanks Ronni
Guest guest
Ronni, Midwesterners here. My d has been on 5,000u for 10 mos now. She had levels measured initially and in ~6 mos - she's was barely at the 50% after 6 mos of this dose. Three others of us are using the same dose now. I haven't noticed any symptoms that I would call toxic for any of us but plan to reduce after the winter is over. Are you using vit K with it? > > I am trying to figure out the Vit D thing.....Since we live up north > in the Pacific Northwest in a mountain valley....I am giving a fairly > high dosage...to us all...... > > My question is how do I recognize toxicity. But, I saw Andy's post the other day that said keep D for kids, under 1200 IU and I meant to ask him about the reasoning for this. Google " Vitamin D toxicity " and you will come up with the warning signs, however, I have heard that you can't always tell when they are toxic. There are vitamins which will reduce the occurrence of toxicity of D and they are; Vitamin A, as vitamin A and D exist in a balance, and C. The most common sign is hypercalcemia. Here is the Wiki page, but there are others http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypercalcemia Dana
Guest guest
Some of the kids are able to take Vit K2....most are not....even a drop or 2 can give them terrible gut aches...so have been trying to put some on the skin...not the best...but better than nuttin. It is interesting....dh's dr has him on 10,000 a day....and it is also interesting that he has developed kidney stones....am wondering if it might be because of the k.....his dr never said a word about it....go figure. Guest guest
Hi Ronni, I use oral K2 capsules from VRP and divide the cap contents in two. A whole cap made my stomach feel weird.
