Guest guest
Hi - Since your son's dosage is almost half of his body weight, if I were you I wouldn't increase the dose. You probably already know that Andy's recommendation is 1/8 to 1/2 mg of each of the chelator per pound of body weight. Increasing the dose will definetely increase the side-effects. If he is comfortable at this dose you should probably stick with it. My son is 9,weighs 70 lbs and we are into round 120 AC protocol. We are using 25 mg DMSA and 25 mg ALA and have been at this dose for the last one year and my son is doing very well. We have come a long way, and we have both lead & mercury, so we have a loooooong way to go. My son seems to be heavily viral, in retrospect all his problems started immediately after MMR. High dose Vit A almost 1.4 yrs ago didn't give us any benefits. We had to pull out Vit A for some time thinking that he was toxic, he would stop eating with it. It took us almost 6 months to realize that Vit A was working so well for him, that it was causing phenol like issues(probably yeast b/c it was helping his immune system to fight the viruses). We haven't done any immune panels to see what kind of viruses he had, we just did a trial of anti-virals and he responded very well to it. We started anti- virals at about round 75 almost a year ago. We had tremendous gains, some of which we still retain. Most important of all is that my son gained 23 pounds in the last one year since starting anti-virals. At 8 yrs he was just weighing 48 lbs, and he was sooooo skiny. Based on your son's response to Vit A, I think a trial of anti-virals would be a good thing to try and see how it goes. Good Luck! Guest guest
Hi Madhuri, Thanks for sharing your story. If you don't mind me asking what anti- virals did you start with and what sort of gains did you see? Many thanks Donna - In , " anumandm " <anumandm@...> wrote: > > Hi - Since your son's dosage is almost half of his body weight, if I > were you I wouldn't increase the dose. Guest guest
You're already (slightly) above the max dose. 1/2 mg/lb is 25 mg for someone who weighs 50 lbs. There are phases in the the process when nothing appears to be happening, one needs to continue through them. If he has viral issues it would make sense to add antivirals. S S Suggestions please!! Posted by: " donnasimon50 " donnasimon50@... donnasimon50 Tue Feb 10, 2009 3:04 pm (PST) Hi All I have been chelating my 6 year old son per AC protocol (62 rounds) and he is coping very well with it. We have had slow and steady improvement and also lost a couple of sensory issues. He weighs 47 pounds and gets 25mg DMSA and 25mg ALA. I have noticed in the last few rounds we have not seen any improvement or regression - can I up the dose for him or is this the absolute maximum dose for his weight? Also in the past we have done(twice, six months apart) the high dose Vit A he responded on the very first day, words were pouring out of him for the two days then slowly decreased to his usually vocab even though I continued with a maintenance dose daily. What is this response telling me?? What else does he need, anti-virals?? I am not sure how to continue to make more progress for him? Also on a positive note I introduced DMAE 2 weeks ago to help with cognition, I haven't notice any improvement in that area but was pleasantly surprised to notice that his non-speech vocal stims decreased dramatically!! I don't know what happened there but am thrilled as he was a constant vocal stimmer since he regressed at 18months. Thank you and I would love to hear your thoughts. My son needed the protocol twice, the second time at even higher doses, before the measles virus was gone http://www.danasview.net/vitamina.htm Dana
Guest guest
Thanks and Dana for responding. I will stick to the same dosage of chelators and may begin some vira-stop as I have that at home but have not given him any yet. What sort of side effects will I see with this? He is not a very yeasty kid (thanks to chelation) but I do give candex most mornings and more when we are chelating on weekends. I've tried biotin but it tends to constipate him which isn't great during a round. Thanks again Donna > > Also in the past we have done(twice, six months apart) the high dose > > Vit A he responded on the very first day, words were pouring out of > > him for the two days then slowly decreased to his usually vocab even > > though I continued with a maintenance dose daily. Guest guest
Hi Donna - We started with Virastop, Candidase, OLE and later added Lauricidan, No-phenol, Colostrum. Besides these he was already on Vit A, Zinc and echinacea/astragalus(one week a month). The biggest gain we saw was his weight gain of 20 lbs. Listening and reading comprehension greatly improved. Hyperactivity/stimming has gone down. Some sensory issues got resolved. Prior to anti-virals, he never had an interest in food. Half way through the anti-virals he started eating other foods. His vision also seems to have improved although he is on vision therapy. Focus has never been this better. Hope this helps! Viral die off tends to cause a lot of yeast. So giving Virastop may cause a lot of yeast, if he is a high virus kid. >>I've > tried biotin but it tends to constipate him which isn't great during > a round. Biotin requires magnesium for proper absorption, so it can be constipating if you are deficient. Try giving the biotin with magnesium, because at my house, biotin-related constipation meant my son was severely deficient in biotin. Guest guest
Hi Madhuri Thank you once again for sharing. The gains your son has made sound fantastic! Guest guest
Hi Dana Thanks for the advice on adding magnisium with biotin - did that this weekend while chelating and no constipation. Thanks again. I will look into the virastop dosages or protocol before I start. Donna > > Thanks and Dana for responding.
