Guest guest
Do you have Cutler's book Amalgam Illness? On p.204 it says to use ALA not DMSA. I'm thinking it's because DMSA only chelates extracellular mercury, and since she met the counting rules most of her mercury is intracellular and/or brain. If her hair test showed little to no mercury, then this is most likely what happened. Here's a link to that page: http://books.google.com/books?id=ZG9glNfif5YC & printsec=frontcover & dq=amalgam+ill\ ness#PPA204,M1 On Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 9:46 PM, cicero2012 <cicero2012@...> wrote: > Hi all, > > My daughter's hair test met the counting rules and her urinary > porphyrins test also indicated mercury toxicity. Guest guest
, Thanks for the reply. I actually did do both DMSA and ALA at 1/8mg per lb. She has had several rounds prior to this as well. Sorry I didn't mention it before, I guess I didn't think it was relevant. Maybe I should increase the dose and try it again. Our DAN! of course wanted to do the high dose challenge prior to chelation. Instead, we did what Andy recommends (at least what I understood) and did low dose (1/8mg per pound) DMSA every 3 hours and began collecting urine on day 2 of a round. Problem is, no metals came out in the urine. Should I assume there are no metals, or the dose is just too low, or something else? Her porphyrins test was through the French lab. Should I do one through LabCorp or another lab? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks so much, Susie ------------------------------------------------------------ Adult Education Get educated. Guest guest
The book says to stop taking the chelator(s) and take the measurement a few days after that, and if this level is higher than the original, then mercury is coming out of the brain. So you could try again this way. And yes, the dosage might not be high enough to detect little mercury in a little body. I wonder if a 24-hr urine sample would even be better... And I agree w/ that you don't need a challenge test. On Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 11:31 PM, cicero2012 <cicero2012@...> wrote: > , > > Thanks for the reply. Guest guest
, I didn't ask " permission " of my DAN!. My daughter has multiple health issues and many tests are covered by insurance if they're ordered by a doctor. Also, now that I have this result I don't really want to continue on a small dose if it's not removing any metals. To think of waking my daughter (and myself) every 3 hours for basically nothing seems unreasonable. I understand that many people do this without a doctor, and I commend them, but I'm not comfortable with that. Guest guest
The best way to determine if it is working is to trial it for a while and observe changes in cognition. When it comes to mercury, all forms of testing a highly subject to error and misinterpretation. Unless of course its tissue sample from autopsy. Good for people in labs cutting animal brains open, but not good for us, except in respect to what we learn from these studies. Guest guest
Hi Susie, I didn't mean to offend you. One of the chelators pulls via urine, the other via stool. I can never remember which, but someone else on the list will be able to comment. It might be that you need to test stool during a round? Guest guest
, Thank you for taking the time to reply- I appreciate it. It's the ALA that is supposed to cause the mercury to excrete via the GI tract. I found some of Andy's old posts on this topic on Onibasu and I think I did everything correctly. Since we used the lowest possible dose, I think I'll go up next time. Susie > > Hi Susie, > I didn't mean to offend you. One of the chelators pulls via urine, the other via stool. Guest guest
DMSA and DMPS is predominantly excretion through urine. ALA is excretion through urine and stool and the ratio from one to the other can vary dramatically from person to person and over time depending upon metabolic issues. Many of us do this without a doctor because we are not comfortable with: A. Leaving mercury in the brain B. Using chelation protocols that will cause further redistribution damage, regression and an increase of heavy metal concentration in organs, including the brain. C. Doctors who recommend chelation, but have not read one study related to chelation. Shepard Salzer wrote: > > Hi Susie, > I didn't mean to offend you.
