If you want to buy DMSA from Kirkman, you have to call and order. It

is not indicated on the site.

You need a prescription for this, though.

Yes, she was talking about buying it through Kirkman's. And, with

them, you do need a prescription. So, I was just making her aware of

that.

Is this for a challenge test? Don't do this, it's not safe. It's

beyond not safe. Can you scan a copy of your son's hair test to this

group for people to read for you? There are many people on this list

who can interpret the test and tell you if your son is mercury toxic.

This is a challenge test and no reccomnded by Andy Cutler. Apply the counting

rules to the hair test.

Tell your DAN! doctor you would like to do the Andy Cutler protocol.

This test can re-distribute metals in your son's body.

post the results here for us to help interpret them? Does your son have any

*Good that you're not comfortable, that's too high a dose for your son. If your

son has NO mercury amalgam dental fillings you could divide the capsules into

smaller doses and give it every 4 hours day and night for 3 days and nights.

You can buy DMSA without a doctor and in smaller doses.

Hi and Welcome to the group!

How do you know that your son does not have mercury? Which hair test did

you have done? Please post it to the group so we can take a look at it to

help you read it. (Many dr's - DANs included - just don't have any idea how

to read them correctly) Not having mercury on a hair sample does not mean

that there is not mercury poisoning, so don't automatically draw that

conclusion. If you need help posting the file, email it to me and I will

help you.

1000mg of DMSA is way too much to give your child. My son who is 64 pounds

gets 16mg DMSA every 3-4 hours from Friday-Monday. And we have made amazing

progress at this dose. What your doctor is suggesting is called a

challenge test and I would never allow it. This amount of dmsa can really

be dangerous and most adults would not even be able to handle that dose.

The appropriate dose for your son to start off with would be 8.75mg every 3

(or 4 at night) hours from Friday morning/afternoon until Monday and that

includes overnight as well.

DMSA will chelate lead - has there been any mention of lead being an issue?

Hope this helps,

Mom to - 4 years old - recovering from PDD-NOS

In the appendix of Amalgam Illness, Andy writes about the potential for

Lipoic Acid to carry mercury INTO the brain as well as out of the

brain.

DMSA, as oppose to LA, does *not cross the BBB. It follows that your

statement that high dose DMSA will make mercury got into the brain is

incorrect.

The side effects of high-dose DMSA are a redistribution of much-higher-

than-low-dose-amounts of non-excreted mercury.

How can you tell if your child doesn't tolerate the DMSA. If they

seem to get really mean on a round... it can be that it is pulling

metals and its working. How do you know which is which?

If your child has gut problems, you will have to start real low and give

flaxseed oil and magnesium for the gut along with a very good yeast protocol

(biotin, candex, candidaise, etc.) + probiotics after meals and before bed. If

your child is having uncomfortable symptoms I would lower the dose even further

until symptoms are barely noticeable or not noticeable. The more inflammation

going on, the less efficient detox will be. You want to keep him comfortable

and happy as possible cause it could take awhile.

Is it dangeous? If someone already started with the ALA, is it not a

good idea to add in the DMSA?

I think a lot of people do exactly the opposite, doing 6-8 rounds of DMSA only

and then adding ALA. This is to reduce the body burden.

Andy says this is not neccessary unless you have had recent Amalgam removals,

which is not the case with most children.

Doing the DMSA along with the ALA increases the amount of Mercury chelated by

approx. 20-30% and also helps with lead and some oth nasty stuff.

We used new beginnings.

But, we used ala alone for the first four rounds to get mercury out of the brain

prior to beginning with DMSA, which was Andy's general direction and what a lot

of people on this list do. At round five or six, you add dmsa. Plus, we were on

all of the supportive supplements and enzymes prior to beginning to chelate with

ala.

It would be no problem to add in DMSA if you are only chelating with ALA right

now. As long as they tolerate the DMSA.

I believe it is best to give the same dose. So, for example, if you are giving

12.5mg of ALA give the same amount of DMSA at every dose during the round. Andy

has said this will increase the Mercury chelated approx 20-30% and it will also

pull some lead and some other stuff as well.

This is what we do for my two boys and it is working well.
