Guest guest
It is saccharomyces boulardii, a " good " yeast, widely used in Europe. I read a study once that found 62% of pediatricians in France prescribe it for childhood diarrhea. Probably a very good thing to take with antibiotics. Dean [ ] Florastore Anyone ever hear of this and is it a probiotic?
Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: Arias Anyone ever hear of this and is it a probiotic? ===>Hi , We used Florastor which is a lypholized Sac boulardii, or the good yeast. Supposedly it works by crowding out the bad yeast. Very effective product, easy to dose as it can be given with food, we always like that. It is also one of the few antifungals you can give right with GSE or OoO or even antibiotics as they don't interfere with it. It is said to have minute amounts of casein, not a problem here. Guest guest
Is it a probiotic? I need to get my dd on a probiotic and I don't know what to use. Guest guest
The nutiritionist prescribed it because my dd is taking Diflucan. Guest guest
I see. In that case, Florastor probably isn't what the nutritionist had in mind. He or she probably means a bacterial probiotic. Since Florastor is a yeast, the Diflucan would just kill it. Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: Arias thanks. do you know if its a probiotic? ====>I can say that Florastor is not to be given with an rx antifungal like Diflucan, per the website. We also used Three/FiveLac, very effective probiotic. Primal Defense is also good as is plain Kyodophilus which is very inexpensive and found in most hfs's. Guest guest
the nutritionist knew my dd was on diflucan and still suggested it. you don't think its the right thing? your saying that the florator is a yeast? and the diflucan would kill it? seems like i need a bacterial probiotic? any help is appreciated . Thanks Dean. On Aug 21, 2008, at 9:12 AM, Dean wrote: > I see. In that case, Florastor probably isn't what the nutritionist > had in > mind. He or she probably means a bacterial probiotic. Guest guest
Did the nutritionist specifically prescribe Florastor, or did she just prescribe a probiotic? If she just prescribed a probiotic, I would think she meant a bacterial probiotic. If she specifically prescribed Florastor - knowing your daughter is on Diflucan - then I don't know the rationale. You really need to clarify it with the nutritionist. Guest guest
Specifically Florastore and she knew she was on Diflucan. I will call her.
