Guest guest
Hi, I just received my son's stools test back from Bioscreen (we live in Australia) and am desperate for help. The streptococcus was 99.9% (normal range < 3%) and E.Coli was 0.0% (normal range 70%-90%) and Candida Tropicalis. We have been battling my son's strep overgrowth for more than 2 years now but nothing has worked. We have tried SCD diet, natural antibiotics (OLE, Berberine, golden seal, oregano oil, Samento, Dioxychloretc etc, etc) with different probiotics and even 2 courses of erythromycin. We have done 4 stools test so far through Bioscreen and every time we got the same result back - Streptococcus overgrowth. Actually this time his stools were collected one week after he finished his 3-week erythromycin treatment. Apparently the antibiotics did nothing to the strep but killed all his E Coli. Now our DAN doctor suggested trying Zithromax, which is not commonly used here in Australia. My question is has anyone been through the same and how you managed to keep the strep under control. Has anyone tried Zithromax to treat Strep with success? My son was on Zithromax for 9 months (yes, 9 months everyday) to treat his skin infection 3 years ago and it cleared up his skin condition but really damaged his gut. I am really scared to try it again but also I really want to treat his strep overgrowth too. I am so desperate right now and any advice will be good. We have tried SCD diet, natural antibiotics (OLE, How much OLE and for how long? I used OLE to eliminate strep and other bacteria, plus viruses. I gave 3000mg 3x per day for 2 years. I don't know at exactly which point the strep was gone, but removing OLE before 2 years caused regression. I am suspicious, but not certain, that biotin was also required for the body to control bacteria as well as yeast. My son also required vitamin C and lysine at high doses to correct his immune system, altho I don't know if those were helpful for bacteria. I do know they were required for viruses. Did you try giving probiotics as the same time? Give them at least 2 hours away from the Zithromax. We used Florastor, which is a probiotic designed to be used WITH antibiotics. Florastor does have a very tiny amount of casein in it, but we're not gf/cf. If you are use another good quality probiotic.==> I am really scared to try it again but also I really want to treat his strep overgrowth too. I am so desperate right now and any advice will be good. Yet I have been having strep die-off for about three months. It's been really bad in the last week or so. Unfortunately, I am not clear what specifically is triggering the strep die-off. So I will talk generally about some of the things I have been doing. I take a lot of supplements to strengthen a compromised immune system. I tend to take B complex plus several other individual B vitamins, like PABA and folic acid. On Dana's advice, I have been taking carnitine to absorb the B vitamins better. I have found that when I am fighting an infection, it puts stress on my adrenals and my thyroid and I need to support both of those during those times. For adrenal support, I mostly take wild yam extract and lysine and sea salt. For adrenal support, sea salt and coconut oil have been helpful to me. I also have worked on finding the " weakest link " . Sometimes, it's a particular vitamin I need and other times it's something in my environment that's not clean enough. I have worked hard on removing toxic cleaners, toxic furnishings and so forth from my home and I do my best to control my exposure to things like that at work. I have found that removing those burdens from my system helps it have the strength to fight other stuff. For me, that has been a huge factor, at least as important as the supplements I take. I have also found that a well-oxygenated body fights disease better. There are various oxygen therapies available, though I am not really familiar with them. For me, getting a better oxygen supply has been primarily about resolving life-long issues with anemia and healing my lungs. (I have a serious medical condition that seriously impacts my lungs.) I also walk a lot more recently, primarily because I no longer own a car. I have found that long walks promote substantial die-off reactions afterwards. I assume it is due to the effect of oxygenating the tissues better. Good luck with this. Guest guest
Hi Michele, Thank you so much for the advice. I wish my son could have strep die-off, which means something is working. Do you mind telling me what the symptoms related to strep die-off are? Is it possible to know if strep overgrowth has been cleared without any testing? My son took OLE and other stuff for a year or two but not in a high dosage. He has been taking Kirkmans's DRN (multi-vitamins and minerals, CQ10, taurin e, etc), Folinic Acid, Carnitine and some aminio acids too. Overall he has improved so much that I though his gut issue should have improved too, but it is not. I just feel that I am such a failure not being about to figure out what is going on in his gut. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Michele Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2008 3:53 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Help ! I wish my son could have strep die-off, > which means something is working. Do you mind telling me what the symptoms > related to strep die-off are? Is it possible to know if strep overgrowth has > been cleared without any testing? ----- I haven't been to a doctor in over two years and haven't had a lot of the tests that folks on this board have done. I am just trying to get well and have kept doing what I'm doing because it's working. I have been working at it for just over 7 years. I have a form of cystic fibrosis and was diagnosed in May 2001. I was on one drug after another all summer, with no forward progress -- in spite of the fact that one drug listed " death " as a possible side effect. Then I came up with my own hypothesis and stabilized in two weeks. I began doing more and more of my own research and gradually got better. Strep die-off: The first time, it was like having a mild case of strep: the weak knees, feeling worse sitting up or standing, and generally feeling under the weather. Only not quite the same as having strep. As it progressed, it often involved my heart feeling funny/uncomfortable and weakness. Initially it was clearly coming out of my heart in large quantities. When that was over, it moved to coming out of tissues surrounding the heart. The discomfort in my chest and general weakness is less at this stage but my bad mood is far worse. My son has suggested that the bad mood was from strep dying off in the brain stem. > > My son took OLE and other stuff for a year or two but not in a high dosage. > He has been taking Kirkmans's DRN (multi-vitamins and minerals, CQ10, taurin > e, etc), Folinic Acid, Carnitine and some aminio acids too. My 21 year old son has suggested the glyconutrients have been important in killing the strep. I took a big spoonful over the weekend and strep die-off was a lot worse for a few days after that. I have also worked a lot on PH balance. My medical condition makes me prone to being very acid. Getting that under control has done a lot for gut function and I have found that gut function and lung function are more closely related than most people seem to think. Also, someone once suggested to me that heart problems often begin as lung problems, so it's possible that getting my gut and lungs in better shape is part of why my body is now able to kill the strep that has been in my heart for so many years. Guest guest
I know I go on and on about ldm 100 but it really is the best intervention next to chelation in my opinion. It is an effective anti viral, anti fungal, anti bacterial. More powerful than OLE or OoO. It can cause a horrible looking but harmless detox rash. It is effective against strep and clostridia among other things. It caused a huge rash in my 4 year old son. After which, I believe we reduced brain inflammtion as his eyes don't protrude as much and are more even. Odd statement maybe but I worked as a nurse's aid in a large facility. All of our residents were extremely affected with a dual diagnosis of physical and mental disability. They had all been affected since childhood. The majority had seizure disorders. The most common trait I noticed in appearance was wandering eyes. So when my son's eyes changed, I noticed. When they changed back, I noticed. I only began using OLE last year (maybe 18 months ago). I have used OOO for several years. I tend to be a little slow to try to new things. My health was so fragile for so long, so I tend to be conservative. Thanks.
