X-Post: My " Very Christmas " plan is working!!!

I am so excited. My son's picture is one of the many kids in the cover of

Mother Warriors. When the book came out I decided to have my son " autograph "

copies of the book and give them out as gifts and have a " Very

Christmas. " I put a copy of the original photo in there, circled his picture

with a

red sharpie, and had him write his name in the books. We gave out fourteen

copies, Twelve of those copies went to teachers, therapists, and doctors.

I gave my son's pediatrican Dr. Bock's book and 's book. She thanked me

for both, especially Dr. Bock's book. She said she was looking into different

books on how to help kids like my son.

My son's swimming instructor is 19 years old and going to school to be a

speech pathologist. She said what really surprised her was when Mc

Carthy's son said he wasn't like Dory anymore. She said it changed the way she

looks at these kids and now understands that they really are in there

understanding what goes on around them.

One of his aides sent me a note over vacation and told me how she read the

book and found it very interesting.

His music teacher just emailed me thanking me for the book. She said she

read it over break and now so many things she has heard make much more sense

now. She was also surprised about the network of parents that are out there

working to help our kids. She wants to meet with me and talk some more because

she's very interested.

My son's ophthamologist love it as well!!

OMG!!!! When I gave out these books I figured his teacher would read it. I

knew his speech therapist had already read it but she took her copy out of

the library. I'm just so happy that more than 1 or 2 are reading it and really

walking away from it with a new, positive thought about our kids.

I am just so excited by the email I got from the music teacher today, I

wanted to share!
