Guest guest
Hi Soili - and all, When I logged on today I had 547 messages (I've been away for a few days, and since back have had little time to spend on line) - so I told myself I was going to read as much as possible and not respond - so that I could get through all of it & have been making some notes to some folks that I wanted to respond to - but I wanted to tell you Soili, that your message makes much sense and along with some of what Lynn has said and Georgina I had already decided that I was going to attempt to be more compassionate and patient here and just ignore the messages that bother me. I have already made it clear what I think of Duncan's motives for being here - but I can choose to not let it bother me. We are here to help each other, and there have been times when I have said things that have bothered others, though it was not my intent - we all feel very passionate about our choices, about our kids and doing the right thing for them. It is easy to see where we might lose sight at times and go overboard, but please, let's not attack each other - it is really getting to be a bit much. Take care all, wishing all pain free days. Guest guest
Ruth, It looks like every summer the keep increasing my fluid pills. I have had to go up again this week. My feet and hands were so swollen when I saw the Hepatologist he just about flipped. I now take Lasix 120 mg's daily and Spironolactone 75 mg's daily. If you are not on a fluid pill you may want to ask. I too, feel bad when the fluid retention is elevated. Hope you feel better soon.
Guest guest
Ruth, I have had problems with pitting edema in my legs for about the last 2 1/2 years. It is pretty gross and funny looking when your legs look like a thumb pushed into play dough! At first my doctors blamed it on my weight. However, even 105 lbs lighter, I still have problems with it. I take 20 mg of lasix every day. Without the lasix, my skin gets so tight it feels as if it will rip apart. Even with the lasix, it still gets bad sometimes. A lot of times in the morning my hands feel so tight I can barely make a fist. I think prednisone can make the fluid retention worse, but I can't tell that prednisone has had an impact. My doctors haven't given me any reason for the fluid retention, but at least now they can't blame it on my weight! In all honesty, the fluid retention probably is better than it was when I was at my heaviest, but it is definitely still a problem. wearing support socks when you know you will be on your feet a lot is often helpful. Also, sleeping with your legs elevated can be helpful if it's particularly bad. I think I read that fluid retention can go along with liver disease, but I"m not positive. Guest guest
Jen Here is a great place to start. peacanbread.com The support group is great too. We have recovered our twins and this was the foundation. We did the diet without the use of nuts or dairy. The progress was amazing. Some are, some are not. HNI enzymes allowed my son to leave gfcf. Some kids need a different diet entirely. > 2) Thyroid issues related to toxins??? Some kids have this problem. Selenium was essential at my house to correct thyroid issues. > 3) Sudden agressive behaviour out of the blue when he is usually a > very content child progressing to the point of he bit me on the chin > and has not bit me since he was 2yrs??? A few things caused aggression here, including bad bacteria overgrowth and giving EFAs without mito cocktail. > 4) Poop plugging...he has had a few rounds of getting totally backed > up although I can't say he is constipated cause it is mush when it > comes out...just not pooping right...is that yeast??? Guest guest
Is the diet mostly trial and error? I just know that when our homeopathic did looked at the IgG and IgE, he said that Tanner was doing good just without Dairy. Not that I am not willing to try but I just don't know what to try! Tanner eats a variety of foods, he likes prunes and he drinks lots (alot more than his sister that is only a year older). He is very active and doesn't show his discomfort when he is plugged. He is not on suppositories or laxitives. I gave him Magnesium Citrate the last time he was " plugged " and it worked well but I just have the feeling like alot of my answers to my questions point to the yeast. LOL, Guess writing about it and asking for confirmation is really what I needed. Where do I start now? Yeast is just about everything he likes to eat!!! Need I mention that we have been up since 3:30 this morning...UGH!!! jen > > Comments interspersed. > S S > > Just wondering... > Posted by: " bohaysjmt " bohaysjmt@... bohaysjmt > Sun Jan 18, 2009 6:02 pm (PST) > My son is 4 1/2 and I have yet to see the DAN!!! until the beginning of > March > > *Consider that a good thing as you can learn a lot from this list in the meantime and be educated so you don't just go along with what the DAN! suggests. > > so I am just wondering if someone could let me know... > > 1) Are all ASD gluten and casein free? > > *Many benefit from it, some do better on SCD. > > 2) Thyroid issues related to toxins??? > > *Sometimes > > 3) Sudden agressive behaviour out of the blue when he is usually a > very content child progressing to the point of he bit me on the chin > and has not bit me since he was 2yrs??? > > *Yeast overgrowth or sensory overload or gluten-withdrawal come to mind. > > 4) Poop plugging...he has had a few rounds of getting totally backed > up although I can't say he is constipated cause it is mush when it > comes out...just not pooping right...is that yeast??? > > *Is he on supps?
