Guest guest
Sheila, For a substance as variable as glucose, I don't think you should totally hang your hat on any single determination. If there are reasons to suspect hypoglycemia in the first place, a low reading may provide some confirmation. If this is an incidental finding as part of a chemistry panel, I would recommend that you repeat it a) when you are going to draw blood anyway for some other reason in three months or c) when you have other basis for clinical suspicion. Guest guest
Thanks. One of her doctors think we should redo the test. I am waiting to here from our other doctor who ordered the tests. Her tests back in June were fine. She is tired alot and low energy so I am not sure. She has been this way for a while though. Guest guest
Sheila, if you think she may have low glucose on an ongoing basis, consider a glycosylated hemoglobin test (also called hemoglobin A1c) at the same time you draw the glucose. Prolonged low glucose should produce an A1c in the low 5's or below.
