Guest guest
Kellie, Aww poor kid! I really feel for him. Migraines can be terrifying. I don't know what you want to try or can apply for your situation, I'll share what has worked for me. I suffered debillitating migraines for 20 years. Now I maybe get 2 per year. Prevention is key. Lights (especially glare like sun off the water or headlights on a rainy night - probably similar to your son's dance lighting) are a trigger. Sunglasses are vital. For me, I know to up my magnesium and vit C when I get the rumblings of a migraine in the works. That took a few years to figure out. I see chiro every month for neck work and some form of massage/bodywork/energy work every 2-3 weeks for prevention. I avoid any unnatural sweeteners and MSG and all it's disguises, and stay hydrated. Should prevention fail, when lack of sleep and stress and hormones hit all at once, then I've discovered I can put a stop to it (by not being able to keep meds down I get migraines with vomiting), by using a mixture of peppermint and lavender essential oil on my temples and neck, applying pressure to a few key acupressure points, sipping ginger steeped in hot water with raw honey, first, then sipping on (this is awful): regular coke with lots of ice or very hot black coffee, while keeping ice packs on my forehead and neck. Ice, caffeine, and lavender are my " go to right away " saviours. I still feel like I got hit by a truck for the rest of the day, but the excrutiating pain and vomitng stops. Hope that helps him (and you) > > Hi All, > > Can anyone help me with migraine information? I think my 8-yr old son > had one a few nights ago. Guest guest
I have no idea if your son was having a migraine or not b/c of the chelation and lights, etc. The only thing I can tell you is that as a chronic, long-term migraine sufferer, screaming is something I would never do during a migraine as it would make the pain MUCH worse...generally just curled in a fetal position ABSOLUTELY still (motion makes it worse too) and moaning. So sorry about your son! That kind of pain is horrible. Wishing him a life that never encounters it again! Guest guest
I know of one woman whose migraines were cured by neurofeedback. Guest guest
quickish, rambling sort of thoughts...This definitely sounds migraine to me...hmmmm, " triggers " are key here - keeping track of them & how many, etc. Some of my girls triggers can cause instant migraines, some triggers require another trigger, etc...lights, noise, and motion were all huge triggers for her, from infancy...Finding and eliminating food & environmental triggers has taken her tolerance waaayyyy up...Fluoride connections provided the best " physically " dramatic results - eliminating fluoride/tin/aluminum took her migraines down from almost constant (2-3 episodes in a month, lasting up to a weekish each, urg)...not instantly, but I saw results within the month, and within six-ish months, we lost the " white poop " & tooth/jaw pain (huge happy dances going on then, let me just say I would do research, do some sort of journal & get familiar with various triggers - food lists/perfumes, cleaners/lights - blinking, bright, etc, and stuff like that - note the " worst " offenders - for us, taco bell, all by itself, could definitely cause a return to migraine-land...We avoid most, big sigh - pretty close to all, processed and fast foods these days. He might have tolerated one or the other - the lights at the dance OR the food, but both together...well, not. My girl, during " lesser " migraine moments does do her own kind of screaming thing - I wouldn't rule out migraines, based on this one thing - I think sugar metabolism is part of it too - we tend to eat fairly often here going too long without food can take her tolerance way down too (chuckling, anyone's tolerance perhaps??? lolol)...wishing you the best, elizabeth > > Hi All, > > Can anyone help me with migraine information? Guest guest
ps. big huge sigh, rereading Again, have you looked into other causes - has he had these type of symptoms/reactions before? As written, it sounds like it could be more worrisome than " just a migraine. " (ha!! migraines sooo bite, total erg)..anyway, that second paragraph you wrote gave me pause & made me wish I wasn't hopping on & off here (computerland, that is) quite so much. wishing you the best, elizabeth > > Hi All, > > Can anyone help me with migraine information? Guest guest
Thank you so very much to all who replied with their support and their experiences, etc. All have helped me so much! , he has never had these symptoms/reactions before. Its been 5 days now, and the head pain has not returned, so I am thankful that it is not chronic, whatever it is. I give him Nordic Naturals " ULtimate Omega liquid " 1/2 tsp a day (810 mg EPA, 560 mg DHA) and Vitamin E liquid (300 IU), and about every other day I include borage oil (60 mg GLA, 100 mg linoleic). Would EFAs and Vitamin E affect migraines? Thanks again to all who replied. --Kellie > > > > Hi All, > > > > Can anyone help me with migraine information? I have felt like this myself. For me, it was caused by certain foods, certain supplements, and yeast in my head. > Could this onset be related to chelating?? Yes, if it was caused by yeast in the head. > usual supplements; off the top of my head C, A, taurine, the > B-vitamins, D, E, EFA's, probiotics, minerals include Mg, Zn, > chromium, and selenomethionine (used to be Minerall, but I recently > switched to individual minerals), Once I no longer needed supplementation of minerals, they caused massive headaches. I have had these headaches from both chromium and selenium, when I no longer needed them. Dana
Guest guest
(snipped) > Would EFAs and Vitamin E affect migraines? ===My daughter self-doses with vit E - it is a common supplement for my family - I & my sisters would often eat it like candy as kids (vit C too btw, the more biomed info I learn, the smarter my mom gets, lololol....anyway, I am rather comfortable with Vit E. She has had " chewies " available to her since she was able to eat foods - 9ish mos or so - and I found that during her worst moments she would seriously try to eat the whole bottle..ultimately, 1000iu to 2000iu, in a day, seems to be the helpful range for her, for her 3-4 " worst " days. She usually stays around 1200iu tho. Most days, she takes 400iu...800iu in a " regular " day is common. Wanting or asking for Vit E, on her own, is one of my first clues that migraineland may be imminent (that used to mean a definite migraineland episode, so I totally count my blessings)...and the connect to EFA's - After the initial good results with fish oil, about six months into it - she would have screeching moments, reminiscent of migraineland, but not quite - that I finally tied into the fish oil...for two of my kids, with their fish oil & other fatty acids they do need extra Vit E - 200iu usually is enough for that. EFA's, in and of themselves, seem to be crucial here for general " quality of life " - migraines do go down, among other things. We have found a combination EFA that we like better these days, tho I do think it was best for us, to start with the fish oil, itself...hoping that made enough sense to be helpful wishing you the best, elizabeth ps. The amounts of vitamin E have not really changed, regardless of her weight/age - they have pretty much stayed the same right along... > > > > > > Hi All, > > > > > > Can anyone help me with migraine information?
