Guest guest
We are about to start chelating the day after tomorrow. Our DAN, with whom we fought over not doing a challenge test, agreed to the low dose frequent protocol with us, but is insisting we do a 6 hour urine collection test after the first administration of DMSA. I seem to remember reading in the archives that Andy thinks this is a waste of time, right? So many practitioners seem to put great store in the metal pulls shown or not shown in these tests. Why is this? Our doctor says that this is the only way to " prove " that we are properly chelating a metal toxic person. Otherwise he feels the hair test and porphyrin tests are not enough to go on. Should I care about what he says? Is there any merit to doing the test? Or are we just wasting our time and money? (like we did with the urine neurotransmitter test)? I would like Andy and anyone else to weigh in on this. How do I handle our doc? He is useful for ordering some tests and for prescriptions, I want to have a working relationship with him for this purpose. But I hate to just humor him and waste my money. What should I do? Guest guest
Urine Toxic Metals test are not very useful. If the goal is to determine if a child is toxic or not -- the toxic urine test is a waste of money. Toxic urine test tells you if metals are coming out during chelation or other therapies. It does not tell you if the child is toxic. If the urine toxic test shows no metals then this means that chelation may not be working OR the kid is not toxic. So why use the test? Since there is a test which will tell if a child is toxic or not (Porphyrins test), the other tests are really not worth spending precious $$. Labcorp performs porphyrins test but many DANs don't want to work with a mainstream lab. Labcorp will accept insurance and save $$! Anyone have a problem with getting accurate results and saving $$? Guest guest
First of all, if you send a check in with the UTM, you can get it for half the price than if your doc charges you for it. Then they're not TOO expensive. Just understand that many kids do not dump mercury for MONTHS, especially if they are older or if the exposure has been a while ago. So, if your doc is using this to determine if your child is poisoned, looking for the " scatter pattern " on a hair test is a lot better idea. Barb [ ] Are Urine Toxic Metals Tests Useful?
