Guest guest
I am a newbie-but I would think it has something to do with the whole metals/virus connection ? WHat do you think ? After my son did the DMSA challenge w/ a really high dose of DMSA (we did not know better then) he was ill 2 days later with fever and not eating for 5 days. > > I started chelating with ALA, 1/8 mg per lb. Guest guest
NAC can cause nasal drainage. (Google: NAC flu) Don't know about the fever, but there have been several people on here saying their child had one during a round. > > I started chelating with ALA, 1/8 mg per lb. It may have been a virus that was resident in his body that his body has now started to eliminate. Try increasing vitamin C and watch for yeast overgrowth. >>I've noticed he also gets > nasal drainage, although it's not a runny nose. Guest guest
About 5 doses into my son's very first round of DMSA (haven't gotten to ALA yet) he started to develop a fever. He had no other symptoms of acute infection - it definately wasn't a cold, flu, stomach bug, etc. His fever eventually got so high by his 10th dose of DMSA that we got worried and stopped the round. He held a fever between 103- 105 for 6 days straight and was somewhat lethargic and had not much appetite. It was worrisome, and we had to have a lot of luke-warm baths just to keep it down out of the 104-105 range and used dye-free motrin when needed. We are confident that it was his body fighting something that was stirred up by the chelation - whether it was a latent virus (we know he is a viral kid) or just an abnormal reaction to the free-floating metals, we don't know. But, now here's the good part, he's been incredible since the fever! That high, long lasting fever was a blessing in disguise for us. I don't know exactly what it did, perhaps killed off some bad bacteria or viruses, but whatever it did was wonderful for him. His language and play are better and he's been a joy to be around! We will be attempting another round of DMSA again soon, but perhaps we'll lower the dose even more just in case. Good luck, Sheri > > I started chelating with ALA, 1/8 mg per lb.
