That's one way to get a geography lesson! LOL I got to the data base, but when I went to add things, it said I could not edit. LOL Maybe we aren't supposed to add or delete? I love knowing that we can just go look someone up there though. Now, is there a way to add a column to say whether they have a picture in files? That would be neat to read a post and if you can't remember who it is, just click a link in the base and see them? Why isn't Leah, the one that runs bra-less through the streets of Virginia..LOL, in the base? Takes me a while , as I think I make things harder than they are, most of the time! LOL For anyone on the list who hasn't gone there yet, GO, it is very cool! When I was first lurking, I kept a notebook of everyone. This is much easier! Thanks again ...GOOD JOB!!!!!!! Guest guest
DEAR Gail, How MUCH simpler would you like the data base ?? :-) The other day (ONLY Thursday )you came up with the query *How's ?* the girl from Hawaii ! (I'm sure we'd all like to know) -- now if you had known about the data base you could have gone there and looked for Hawaii and found that we have only one girl there - her name is as you almost remembered Loriann, and that her is called ectect. However as you'd mentioned the name , Leah (she's the one that doesn't wear a bra and runs through the streets treading in !!!) (it's OK Leah THAT's not in the data base - yet!!) came up and said that - who lives in Texas and has Seth was okay and very busy with her family ectect. What I suggest you do is to store the (at present) 4 pages in your computer for easy access - or print them out if you want, then you will know as I do who 's whom and where !!! :-) and don't forget if you want another column for further information we can always add it - if the result of the poll is favourable !! PS I'm learning a lot about where the US states are situated !!

Guest guest
When they passed the HIPPA laws it was a huge smoke screen. This was during the Homeland Security Act. I know because I work with the elderly and we collect a lot of medical data. I got a letter from my MD asking what information I wanted shared with the insurance company. Why? because they were forwarding all the info to a Government data base. They came up with this bullshit about not sharing personal info via fax, or telephone which was HIPPA. It was a smoke screen giving the illusion that our personal information could not be shared between providers. All the while the Government had access to all of it. There is now a new assessment tool we use when doing new assessemnts on the elderly. There are over 500 questions and we have lap tops. I discovered within this assessment there was actually two separate data bases. One was ours, and the other was for EOEA (Executive Office Of Elder Affairs) They want every bit of personal info on these elders down to who helps change their depends pad, also a whole questionier on their mental status. Its like a mini teen screen. Also there is a pop up window to list every medication they take. When I was at the training for the new data base I asked how do we explain to these elders that we are collecting all this personal info on them that the Government has access to. I was basically told to lie and say it was a secure data base. I pushed further because this EOEA official did not answer my question. I said that this does not mean its secure from the Government. The official then told me that if they don't answer the questions then they can't get services. This was a blatant lie. Now when I go to an elders home I inform them that any information I collect is being accessed by the Government. The consent form they sign says they have a right to what questions they want to answer. My supervisor gets really pissed at me because I refuse to do the psych questions, and won't put their meds in the data base. He said that EOEA wants this info and if we get audited they are going to ask why the info is not in there. I said tuff. I make sure now that I write in the assessment notes that the elder objects to the substance of the info being collected so that I cover my butt, and thiers. I have another elderly client who has A-Fib and refuses to take the meds for it because of side effects. She had to have an xray on her leg and when she went to the xray department an from the ER came in with a heart monitor machine. She became suspicious and asked why they wanted to put this machine on her when all she wanted was an Xray. The RN became very authoritative and told her that she could not leave until she had the test. Like a fool she submitted and of course the heart beat was irregular because of the A-Fib. The elder asked why they wanted to move her to a room in the ER. She just wanted her X-ray and wanted to go home. The RN told her she was not going anywhere and that she needed to be admitted. She paniced and told them she had to use the phone to cancel her ride. Thank God I was in the office. She was in a panic. I jumped into the car and drove to the ER. I confronted the RN and asked how she knew the elder had A-Fib, and what right she had to tell her she could not go home. I knew she had a computer and she was flagged. To make a long story a little shorter I told the RN she was leaving, that in America there were no forced medical treatments and that she had no right to force her to do anything. I brought her home and knew from experience that the ER, RN would call Elder At Risk this is like DSS for elders. I warned her she wouldhget a call, or they would just show up and to refuse to talk with them, or let them in. They would of course do a mental health screen on her and try to coerce her into treatment. Sure enough I got a call from them. They wanted me to assist them in seeing the elder. I refused and told them she was 100% competent and had a right to refuse. So you this is what we have come to in this country. Its no longer just about forced mental health drugging. It has invaded all medical modaities and everything about you is in a data base. I tried to get this elder to inquire further into what was in the computer data base, and how this nurse had the right to access it but she did not want to push the issue. That is what we are all up against. So Baby Boomers beware! Soory for the long rant.
