Also, I remember reading that at the same time that polio was on the wane here in the US (supposedly due to vaccines), it was also on the wane in other countries where they didn't have vaccines. Maybe certain infectious diseases just have cycles they go through. I don't know. Also, just one point. I didn't choose not to vaccinate because I felt safe knowing that those who were vaccinated gave my son some sort of insurance. In fact, I was hoping that he would have contracted maybe chicken pox or measles to help build his immune system. One of the neighbor boys did get chicken pox (even tho he was vaccinated!) and I encouraged to play with him, but never did catch it. I don't know if I was right or wrong on that idea, but in the end it didn't happen. I guess the bottom line is that I had to do what my research and my gut told me was right.
