Guest guest
Hi, I can only speak for myself regarding the candida overgrowth and diet connection with respect to effectiveness of LDN. I have Sjogren's syndrome for over one and a half years ago with severe dry eye and then the onset of severe dry mouth after 7 months. I found LDN and started with liquid at 4.5mg. LDN reversed my dry mouth completely in about 8 days and made my eyes a lot more tolerable. Prior to suffering from SS, I had taken 3-4 rounds of antibiotics to cure my recurring bronchitis and inflammation of the eye (I thought that would help with dry eye as suggested by eye doc. with low dose doxycycline over 3 months). Anyway when I now look back, I've probably had a yeast problem to start with because after starting with LDN, I started to notice one or two rashes on my legs and I would experience vaginal/anal itchiness (though no medication was needed). After 5 months of LDN, I developed an acute UTI which requires another 3 rounds of antibiotics and just as I thought I was recovering from it, my saliva glands suddenly stopped working which LDN was able to reversed before. I panicked and after consulting with people on the site and Dr. Zagon, who suggested that LDN's immune system boosting ability may also have encouraged organ growth in patients who are immune suppressed. I decided to go on anti-fungal treatment and immediately after taking the first dose of Diflucan, I can feel my saliva started to flow again. And at the same time, I started a very strict anti-candida diet to treat overgrowth and continual bladder disturbances. It's now almost 5 months since my diet (no gluten, no soy, no dairy and most importantly, no sugar/fruit diet). My die off reactions were quite severe but I CAN feel LDN started to take effect again because since that first dose of anti-fungal medication, my salivary gland have continued to secrete and improve but given my probably very high yeast level, I've only started to feel closer to normal saliva flow in the last couple of weeks. I am very grateful that without people like and Dr. McCandless' anti-candida protocol and many others who helped me unsolve my mystery, I would have still be suffering miserably and gave up on LDN. For me at least, diet plays a very important role in helping LDN work better and the diet also got rid of some of my previous mysterious neuropathy type of tingling, warmth and muscle twitchings. My dark circles are lighter, I lost many unwanted pounds but still have great energy so I am very glad that I am able to reap the benefit of those old timers. I am very grateful. I hope this may help those who are experiencing similar problems. C
