Guest guest
I am 47xxy Klinefelter syndrome male and have been on testosterone replacement therapy for over 38 years. In March 2007 I developed a DVT (blood clot) in my leg and was off T for over 9 months. The clot resolved and starting in March 2008 I resumed T. During my last few doctor's visits with blood tests he has noticed that my hemoglobin levels seemed to be dropping along with the amount of iron in my blood. In June 2008 the hemoglobin level was 12.3 (which for a male any score below 13 is considered anemia). Since I am no longer on the blood thinners, (and I am not menstruating---a joke) the doctor feels that I am probably bleeding somewhere. I will be taking an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy in August to determine if there is any gastrointestinal bleeding. My question to the group - -based on the facts presented, has anyone else on testosterone replacement developed anemia? Thank you for any responses.
