Guest guest
In a message dated 00-02-22 14:35:49 EST, you write: << some lotions do this and soaps.....my skin seems to be more delicate since I have been sick....and my girls have the same problem....I am constinately itching could this be do to materials and laundry soaps and could this be caused from Lyme...just curious.?? >> Dear , We've had various rashes (not the " bulls-eye " ) - just odd little itchies... Did read somewhere that spirochetes do push through to skin - also that they like to " hide " in scar tissue. Asked one doc to do a scraping & test for them, but same old - " oh no... blah, blah, blah " response. Have also read that alcohol should never be used when one has lyme (anyone know why??? Does it feel the chetes?) - not even extrenally. So, when we go for blood tests, we make hosp. use the Betadyne wipes instead of alcohol. We've found that most lotions, etc. have alcohol in them, too... Hope this helps
Guest guest
Hi Cyntha, Skipping around in my mail, but just wanted to welcome you back, we missed you, and let you know that when I am not on abx, I itch and scratch like crazy. Early in my disease, I spent much of my time in oatmeal baths trying to get some relief. I tried all the creams, lotions and anti-itch stuff on the market, Benedryl too, nothing helped, but time. The bottoms of my feet used to itch so bad, I would stand on a hairbrush trying to get relief. The itching seemed to come from inside, not on the outer skin. I also had awful itchy inner wrists. Looking back, those areas that itched so bad, are the biggest pain areas when I herx....strange! I read in an earlier post that you may have thyroid problems and not LD as originally suspected, I hope and pray that is the case, I know you were never really sure exactly what your problem was, at least with Thyroid there are treatments available, so I pray this is the problem and not LD. Guest guest
Oh marta that is the same kind of itching with me....update about the thyroid...doctor doesn't exactly know why but my thyroid went very hyper...he talked to my husband I don't know how high and they wouldn't tell him so they will send me the results on paper.....but I went from . 075 mg to .005 mg Levothyroxine. he also keeps switching me from synthroid to Levo...now that really isn't much at all..but he can't figure out why I keep going from hypo to hyper to hypo to hyper..the last two months it has been flying high...very frustrating..he can't find any reason for this since every thing else seems to be normal...anybody have any ideas..this is very frustrating to me...now I wonder if it was ever normalized like they think...but I still worry about lyme because of the neuro symptoms and my daughter Celeste who has neurological problems and my daughters seem to have the same itching problems and some of the same symptoms as I do just not as high and noticable....sigh..so frustrating. Guest guest
Dear Gaye, The only dumb question is the one you don't ask - especially if it can result in an error. That said - your first question: IVF: D5 1/2 NS with 20 mEq KCl @ 100 mL/hr. break down -Intravenous Fluid: Dextrose 5% (in water) and 1/2 (or 0.45%) normal saline with 20 milliequivalents of potassium chloride to infuse at a rate of 100 milliliters per hour. The second question " W " - W q 6 h - not quite sure of this one - Is it something you saw in print or is it an interpretation of a written order. There are some abbrv. that contain W - D5W; SWFI, but not sure about the context you've asked about. Hope this helps, let us know if you have any other questions. Guest guest
" Pituitary " I wonder is this my problem. I have had low T for 22 yrs. my first test was Total Testosterone 120. My LH was 3.33 mIU/mL range 2.00 - 12.00. My FSH was 4.95 mIU/mL range 1.00 - 12.00. My Prolactin was 8.80 ng/mL range 1.58 -23.12 I was told I am primary meaning my testis don't work to good. Last yr. I added HCG to my 150 mgs. / wk. T shots. My Total T went way up from 650 to 1087 ng/dl range 262 - 1593. I asked my Dr. to do a MRI on my pituitary and the test showed nothing wrong. I stayed on the HCG because this is the best I have felt in 22 yrs. On my last 4 blood tests my IGF-1 looks to me to be low 114 ng/mL range 75 - 212. This is my last test. About 7 months ago my Thyroid was checked. FT1 = 8.10 ug/dL range 6.33 - 12.40. T uptake = 1.02 Units range 0.66 - 1.27. T3 total = 1.15 ng/mL range 0.8 - 2.2. T4 total = 8.26 ug/dL range 5.0 - 12.0. TSH = 2.156 uIU/mL range 0.4 - 4.7. I had my Cortisol tested it was 10:30 am = 9.04 ug/dL range A.M.= 7.0 to 25.0 and P.M.= 2.0 - 9.0. My Dr. said it is fine. I now feel he is wrong it should have been up over 15. My wife has Thyroid Problems and we now feel her meds like Armour can't get high enough she gets up to 2 grains and gets hyper. We read this could be because of Adrenal Fatigue not enough Cortisol to carry the med from the blood to the cells. We read that you can do some tests like shine a light in her eyes to see if your pupil says closed we did this and her pupil starts to open and close but it does not go big. She checked mine and my pupil did not last as long as hers and opened wide and kept trying to close. I feel I have a pituitary problem causing my problems. Every winter I get Bronchitis and can't get rid of it like my immune system is not working good. In the last 15 yrs. any infection I get it takes 3 to 4 refills of Anti-B's to get rid of it. In the morning's when I wake up I am always fatigued takes me forever to get going. So my Dr. gives me Concerta 36 mgs. to help with my energy. Now I feel this is not good to take if I have low Cortisol levels. Any input would be a big help here. When I added HCG to my T shots last yr I did dam good until last fall when the Bronchitis started now I have trouble breathing. I am on Spiriva Handihaler for 45 days Dr. says I have a lot of inflammation in my lungs I failed a breathing test. Thanks Phil
Guest guest
She does sound like a bypass patient, but if she is, she doesn't want anyone to know since she told me she lost it on her own, but get this, while I was talking to her she told me in her own words, "I have NO willpower" how do you lose 160 pounds without it, I can't even lose 25 without the band...I do no she was hospitalized yesterday, so I didn't get to see her to give her the protien mix, but I plan on going to see her in the hospital...Maybe I can help her...Not that I'm a nurse, I'm not, I just no the importance of protien and she admitted to not eating enough of it...At least while she's in the hospital maybe they'll run some much needed tests... Thanks Bipley.... RenaBipley <Bipley@...> wrote: Wow, she sure sounds like bypass, doesn't she? If she is a surgery patient she very likely knows protein requirements. Guest guest
Rena, All bypass patients need to take supplements to compensate the malabsorbic part of the surgery. This is part of the " deal " with the bypass; just like the fills are with the band. This is very important. I think that the reason there are so many malnourished bypass patients is because they do not follow the doctor's instructions after surgery. If this lady is not having enough protein and not taking her supplements it is no wonder why she is so weak. She is starving her body. Without the supplements they will not be healthy because the body does not absorb all the nutrients the bypass patients eat. This is how the surgeyr works. They cannot take a regular multiviatmin either , there are special vitmains made for bypass patients or they take larger quantities (prescribed by the doctor) of regular supplements. Without them they can become anemic, develop calcium deficiency, etc. I believe that a patient needs to be commited to the surgery they will have. If you have the bypass you need to have regular blood work done, take supplements daily and follow the instructions the doctor gives you. If you have the band you need to get your fills, have your band checked under fluoro every so often, etc. There is no " maintance free " solution for weight loss as of yet. This is why the TOOL part is mentioned soooo many times when talking about weight loss surgery. All weight loss surgeries are meant to make the patient healthier which includes thinner but not the other way around. Healthy first, always first, it is clear in cases like the one you saw yourself that the ladies 1st obejctive was thin and not healthy. Maybe if you mention your surgery she will open up to you and you can make suggestions directly. Just a thought... P.S. You look great!Nina <nina_eguia > wrote: Rena, All bypass patients need to take supplements to compensate the malabsorbic part of the surgery. This is part of the "deal" with the bypass; just like the fills are with the band. There is no "maintance free" solution for weight loss as of yet.
