Guest guest
Hello men, A 2006 article from the Journal of Andrology offers information that may be helpful for men with erectile dysfunction who may also have low testosterone levels (below 300 ng/dL [normal range: 300 - 1000 ng/dL]). The study notes that men who had less than 200 ng/dL total testosterone showed increased frequency of nocturnal erections when given 50 mg of sildenafil 1 hour before bedtime. (From what I've read, nocturnal erections seem to be vital for getting good erections during the day.) The study noted that both testosterone replacement & sildenafil individually improved nocturnal erection frequency, but that the greatest improvement occurred by combining both treatments. This study is especially relevant to me as I wondered whether or not Viagra (sildenafil) helps with nocturnal erections. I asked specifically if it was safe (i.e. if viagra might cause priapism during sleep), to which I received some of your responses. There may be more variation in therapeutic success than this study would suggest, meriting further studies. However, I think it helps add a specific strategy for men with ED- for both those who have low testosterone levels, & those who have " normal " levels. Furthermore, as mentioned by the author, since nocturnal erections are largely unaffected by daytime constraints (like social embarrassment), they may be a better indication of physiological " success " . I've posted the article & corrections to it in our " files " section.
