Guest guest
C/P from Dr Mirkin Newsletter: Dear Dr. Mirkin: Now that Vi*ag*ra and other drugs are available, is there any reason to be concerned about impotence? It's common for men over 60 to have difficulty maintaining erec*tions. Two studies, one from Italy and one from the US, show that men who are impo*tent before that age are at significantly increased risk for heart attacks (JAMA, December 21, 2005; Journal of the American College of Cardiology, October 18, 2005.) The most common causes of impo*tence are arteriosclerosis and diabetes. Less common causes include low levels of the male hormone, tes*tos*terone, or a brain tumor. So every man who is impo*tent before age 60 should check with his doctor and get blood tests for arteriosclerosis and diabetes. The tests should include cholesterol, homocysteine, Lipoprotein A, C-reactive protein and HBA1C. They also should get blood tests for tes*tos*terone and prolactin, the test for a brain tumor. Since most impo*tent men will have arteriosclerosis or diabetes, they may need to take appropriate medications, but they certainly should be exercising and follow a heart-attack- preventing diet. Guest guest
I've referenced Dr Mirkin on here many times. For those who haven't found his website, or heard his radio programs - check him out. Really interesting, and often entertaining stuff. It's a little sick, I guess, but I love it on his radio show when someone with diabetes calls in with a question; the first thing Mirkin asks is " when's the last time you had a piece of bread. " You can almost bet the answer will be " yesterday " or " this morning, " and then watch out, cause Mirkin just lays into them about they're killing themselves eating bread and their doctor sucks, etc, etc. Other than the ranting on diabetics who don't cut carbs, he's loaded with good avice from the journals and research. He also has over 100 hours of MP3 of his old radio program broadcasts. > Dr Mirkin on Impotence - Interesting Read! > >C/P from Dr Mirkin Newsletter: > >Dear Dr. Mirkin: Now that Vi*ag*ra and other drugs are >available, is there any reason to be concerned about impotence? > >It's common for men over 60 to have difficulty maintaining >erec*tions.
