Guest guest
Jody what can one say I have read one post after the other saying there Dr. had this attitude. My first set of Dr.'s never tested me 21 yrs. ago for low T. After they did every test my BCBS would pay for they told my I am Depressed and I had to go along with this to keep my job I was so sick I was on sick leave. Five yrs. later I was put on a new drug Prozac and it slowed down my voiding and I got a bad bladder infection and was sent to a Uro. This Dr. told me he feels I am not depressed but have low T and tested me my Total T was 120. I still feel I lost 5 yrs of my life on them drugs. I have seen a lot of Dr.'s that my Dr.'s have sent me to that were not any good on low T. All I can say is before one goes to a Dr. to call and ask a lot more questions about low t like how many men dose the Dr. treat and dose he test to see why one has low T. Does the Dr. check for high E2 and if one is high does he use Arimidex to get the E2 down. If the Dr. finds a men to be secondary hypo. does he use HCG to treat him. You need to call this new Dr. and make sure your going to a good one. I must stress that to me it is Criminal to put a man on TRT with out knowing why he is low. And not to test him every 4 to 6 weeks when put on TRT to see how things are going and to watch the blood count. Phil skywalker45_99 <skywalker45_99@...> wrote: Hi guys and supportive women. I have my appointment next week for my discussion about my possible low T. I've been doing a lot of research and I wanted to let you know some more info and tell you about my " enlightening " phone conversation with the Uro who did my vasectomy. First I would like to say that I have noticed a decrease in the size of my penis and testicles. I've been trying to pay attention to this for some time and now even my wife says that she believes my testicles are smaller as well as my penis. Any ideas about this? I've asked a few times on this board how those of you whose T is in the low normal range convince your docs to give you TRT. I called my Uro's office the other day (he's not the doc I'm seeing next week) and asked the receptionist if the doctor might have time to speak with me, unbelieveably he called me that evening from his home. He's a real nice guy and runs an office supposedly dedicated to men's health. What ensued was nearly an argument over TRT. Let me tell you just what he said. I told him my symptoms and he said that it was highly unlikely just by my symptoms that I was suffering from low T (even though I have at least 9 of 10 symptoms). He thinks it's depression. He said I was too young (I'm 36). Since I'm not a medical professional I didn't press this issue but then I asked him what he would do if I came in and got a hormone panel and the results showed me in the low normal range. He said that he would not initiate any kind of TRT unless my numbers were below the threshold of what would be considered hypogonadism. He also went on to say that if the free T was low but the total was normal that he still wouldn't initiate treatment because this is just a normal part of aging and went on to add that the risks of TRT far outweigh any benefit and that men should just " learn " to grow old gracefully. I then asked him about E2 Estradiol levels being high. He will not under any circumstances prescribe any aromatase inhibitors to men and went on to say that men need a certain amount of estrogens and that losing weight would help to normalize the reading (specifically fat). The only time he would intervene would be if a male presented with feminizing symptoms. He said the best way to boost T levels is to weight train and eat a good diet and accept the fact that what you got is what you got. At this point I was so infuriated by his pompous attitude toward this subject I didn't feel like asking any more questions but I did just the same. I asked him if he initiated TRT in a hypogonadal man what meds would he use. He said the only form of T he would prescribe at all would be bioidentical T from a compounding pharmacy. At this point he went on to say, and this is what I feared all along, that prescribing T replacements is dangerous business for a doctor. Each script that is written ultimately falls into the hands of the DEA and he doesn't want to be investigated for prescribing steroids to patients who aren't trying to gain weight after illness etc. Jeez guys what the hell do you all think of that. Like I said he is a real nice guy but appears very against any type of TRT for men because the greatest majority don't need it and wouldn't benefit from it and would put themselves at greater risk for heart disease, prostate cancer, polycythemia and some other things. What do you bet though that if this guy had the problems I'm (we're) having he would be injecting himself whenever he could. Needless to say I'm glad I decided not to go back to him and chose instead to see a new female doctor. Did any of you run into these types of issues? There is no denying that doctors are going to be a little miffed when you fall into the low normal range but still demand TRT. I just need more advice on how to deal with these issues specifically. Thanks for all your time. Jody

This is an excellent website for allaying the male " size phobia " (explicit photos): http://www.erectionphotos.com/frames_index.htm Size is mostly a guy thing as it relates to male genitalia and female breasts. We pick our mates for more important qualities. Kindness, intelligence, integrity, and a good sense of humor are top priorities in my book. Even when looking at a man's appearance alone, genital size weighs in last. Try to get to know more women just on a friendship basis and you may feel more comfortable about progressing to physical intimacy with a girl who is also an understanding friend. Guest guest
> I would have to second s opinion on the size of your penis. I'm about 6in or a little less hard and I've never been embarrassed by that amount nor have I ever received complaints. I think that all guys wish they had more, not so much for their partners but for themselves. The thing here is that T controls to an extent the final size of your penis and testes and a lack of T can also cause them to shrink or so I've read. It's the shrinking that concerns me. You shouldn't at all be afraid to undress in front of a partner. > > > > Sorry to hear your penis and testes are smaller. Guest guest
A combination of cowardice and ignorance will cause a doctor to treat a hypogonadal patient this incompetently. I heard the same diatribe about prostate cancer, etc from my PCP. A very expensive endocrinologist looked at my obviously low hormonal levels and declared me normal. I even got the lecture about the DEA becoming suspicious of them for prescribing testosterone. A thought just occured to me. The reason why doctors like to prescribe compounded transdermal T is because that is not the form commonly used by athletes. Otherwise join the club of patients denied treatment because it is the politically correct to do so. I hope your new female doctor turns out better. I have read in past posts that women are not as callous about hormonal problems. They experience menstruation, PMS and menopause equally. I learned not to expect sympathy from a endo with a full beard and a well built body, said person even had the nerve to suggest that my testosterone levels were probably higher than his. Guest guest
Did you post your levels I don't remember but here is a link that has levels by age. http://www.natural-hrt.com/andropause04.html And this link talks about levels of Total and Free T being in the upper 1/3 of your labs range. http://www.lef.org/protocols/prtcls-txt/t-prtcl-130.html These links are not the law just an aid in understanding low T. Guest guest
, great advice to the original poster...I wish more gay men though that way. Guest guest
, great advice to the original poster...I wish more gay men thought that way. LOL ----- Ah, all I can do is relay the female perspective. Can't change the male doctrine of " bigger is better " . I'm afraid you're stuck with it. I think gender focus dates back to prehistoric societies where bigger muscles and a bigger stone club spelled success for a man, while communication and nurturing skills together with a capacity for discerning edible berries were proven survival skills for women. None of us can escape the past! I also suspect the average size erect penis is less than the 5+ inch length reported by the two studies. Volunteer subjects were measured, and it stands to reason that males with pride in their endowments would be first to volunteer.
