Guest guest
he's probably checking ur sperm count...are u trying to have kids (now or later?) he may be checking if ur testses are working or not...as a semen analysis is needed to determine if u are secondary hypog. i would have thought he would have checked it prior to TRT. Guest guest
Jack I say do the test first but why don't you ask the Dr. Phil Jack <myhormonez@...> wrote: --- Hello all my Qestioon is should I put androgel now before I do the test that is all yes or no please.> > he's probably checking ur sperm count...are u trying to have kids (now or later?) he may be checking if ur testses are working or not...as a semen analysis is needed to determine if u are secondary hypog. i would have thought he would have checked it prior to TRT. > > Jack wrote: Hello All I have to do a semen analysis to consider HCG But I fail to > ask my doc and he never said anything about to USE ANDROGEL OR NOT > please let me know if anyone had or have had experience Thankyou Jack > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I say, ask your doctor. I'd think it would depend on why you're doing a sperm count test. If it's to try to see if you are fertile while on Androgel then you should apply the cream. If it's to determine whether you are still capable of being fertile then I'd say don't apply the cream. If it's to determine how functional your testicles are while on TRT then I'd say apply the cream. You really need to call your doctor and ask. Guest guest
HI phil I got your post now after I got back from the hospital where I do the test at and I did the test without putting the Androgel so we shall see the result even though I think it will be very small count now . The reason I say that is it came very small amount very different from my experience. My question is still does it matter if you put androgel before the test as I do all the time after shower or not. If there is next time eventhough the facility was in tip top shape for the matter at hand with a cost out of my packet $158.I don't know is there any body out there who use androgel and have had these test so please explain to me how it is affecting the test. I am interested to have hcg so I can get my testicles back they are getting so small I am worried sick now. Guest guest
I was on 10g / day of Androgel for about 5 months before switching to IM injections. I wanted to know my fertility status while on Androgel so I applied the cream before the test. Before going on TRT I wanted to also get a baseline for my sperm count and freeze some sperm just in case my fertility never comes back. Most of what I've read is that for those who's hypogonadism is secondary (Hypothalamus/Pituitary in origin) fertility will return when TRT is discontinued. It's a lot like when a woman is taking hormones as birth control and then when they come off of them their fertility comes back. Sometimes it can take months and months to restore fertility but with the use of HCG and other hormones fertility can be stimulated more quickly. The bottom line is that if the hypogonadism is primary (meaning disfunction of the testicles rather than the hypothalamus or pituitary) then fertility can be a long term issue even after TRT is discontinued. The reason for this is that whatever was causing the testicles to produce less and less Testosterone would likely continue to progress regardless of whether someone was on TRT or not. So when coming off of TRT the testicles would even be less able to produce T even if the gonotropin hormones were restored. If your hypogonadism is secondary then there's likely nothing to worry about long term. If it was primary and you still may want to have children then I might suggest talking to your doctor about doing a fertility treatment to get a sperm sample frozen before going on long term TRT. Since it wasn't entirely clear what the cause of my hypogonadism was I had my sperm frozen just in case I don't get fertility back again. I was infertile on 10g / day of Androgel and have continued to be infertile on IM injections. I don't know if my fertility will come back someday if I want children but I'm glad I have some sperm frozen just in case. Let me know if you have anymore questions I can answer, I'd be happy to help if I can. Guest guest
Jack your semen analysis will not be altered by putting on TRT before or after u collect ur semen sample. u already have enough T in ur system exogenously for such a long time that ur LH and FSH levels should be near zero. putting the TRT on after the test will not alter ur LH and FSH levels. so either way it does not make a difference going fwd. good luck Jack <myhormonez@...> wrote: HI phil I got your post now after I got back from the hospital where I do the test at and I did the test without putting the Androgel so we shall see the result even though I think it will be very small count now .
