Guest guest
Date: Tue, 27 Apr 2004 10:15:08 -0700 (PDT) From: Abbadi <kmabbadi@...> Sherry, I would take a break from (or cut back on) whatever probiotics or antifungals you are taking until the die off becomes reasonable. Hi , Actually, it was asking for help, not me. But hopefully he's read your message. Sherry (from Oregon)
Guest guest
Hi , First, do what explains in her message: for now, stop everything, drink lots of hot water or herbal teas, etc. The reason is that you are taking too many antifungals at once, which is causing more die-off and toxins in your system than your body can get rid of. Continue to avoid sugars or sweets(even fruit juices), as well as starches, that candida feed on. Wait until you feel better, when the body has eliminated the stuff that's making you feel bad; then, start with just one antifungal, (maybe just the garlic or just the kefir) see how you feel after 4 or 5 days on that one thing. Then add one more item to your treatment program and see how you feel the next 5 days. And so on. It seems to me that taking both Primal Defense and Grapefruit Seed Extract is excessive. I would take only one of those at a time along with the other items you listed. And I would make one OR the other the last thing in the rebuilding of your program. Also, consider the AMOUNT of each antifungal that you are taking. Don't take large amounts at the beginning, start small and work up. This is a gradual process of balancing the amount and number of antifungals with how well your body can get rid of the die off. Also, eating to avoid candida is a way of life. You are making life changes, so take your time and do it gradually. Then, know that you have to be careful from here on to avoid eating in a way that allows candida to build up again in your system. Hope you feel better soon. If I were you, I'd back off a little on the anti-fungals. You might try taking something to support the liver like milk thistle. Tell the truth, I didn't begin to get permanent improvement until I started doing the liver flushes as suggested by s Moritz in " The Amazing Liver Cleanse, " found at www.authorhouse.com. Seemed my liver just couldn't handle the toxins until then. Just a thought. Sherry (from Oregon)

You must find out what your setpoint is in the range that you feel good at. My labs ft4 range is .59-1.17(lab ranges are different). I feel my best when the range is in the upper 1/3, which would be 1.13. If your doctor is just testing the TSH, that is wrong. Especially when you are on Synthroid. I have had Graves and am now hypo from being medicated. It took me a while to find my setpoint. According to the NACB, 2002, the ft4 must be in the upper 1/3 of the range to increase the ft3. This is just some things that I have learned. Hope that you will believe me. Also, I wanted to add that when you are on Synthroid, the TSH will be suppressed. Hope this helped Betty
Guest guest
Hi Jenni, I know, how you feel... and I'm sure, other members had been through your misery. Maybe try these supplements: Thyroid Energy by Now, L-Tyrosine, B6 and Adrenal Support by Bio Chem (I am taking these and they have really helped me) My husband and I also stay away from raw cruciferous vegetables, soy products, sweets, processed foods... It took quite a while, though, to feel as good as we do now. BTW. he takes Armour, but I cannot imagine that this makes a big difference... I hope that you feel better soon. Guest guest
Hi Jenni, welcome to the hypo community. Fatigue was and still is at times my biggest complaint. At the moment though, my big bear bug is depression. For the depression and tiredness I find B12 1000mgs in the morning, and a further 1000mgs in the evening if I am really flagging with energy. Live in hope that it does and will get better. Feel no shame in taking cat naps if you are able to. It gives the body time to repair and heal. Support the process by taking vitamins. Good health, Val. Guest guest
Hello Clouded Tears, How long have you been diagnosed, and is 100mgs of Synthroid your top and optimal dose? In the U.K. I use 200mgs of Levothyroxine (T4). I was still significantly hypo at 100mgs just a month a go. Now my doc has added 20mgs of T3. Energy levels are better, but not 100%. At least I am not sleeping 10-12 hours at a stretch anymore. I have only been on meds since December 2004, so for me it is still early days. Guest guest
I disagree that we just have to be patient and hang in there OMG. We need proper treatment to feel well, so that means looking at topdoc lists and asking the right questions before we go and waste money and time. This person needs enough of a different med, and probably adrenal meds too. There really is no need to suffer from medical ignorance. Guest guest
nne, You are obviously dealing with a lot of health issues. I know that can be overwhelming in itself. Then making the changes can add more stress at first. Personally I am the " all or nothing " type so I dove into the program head first. I cold turkeyed everything except fruit and coffee which I took a few extra days to wean myself off of. However, I have read many posts from folks who did this slowly...which is actually Bee's recommendation. Try giving up one thing each week (i.e. bread on week one, dairy on week two, fruit on week three, etc.) until you are 100% on program as far as eating. Then add the supplements, the antifungals, etc. I know making all these changes is hard but, speaking from experience, Bee's program is worth it. I am no longer taking meds for diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, arthritis or FMS. My blood sugars run normal most of the time...any deviance is now to the low side. My blood pressure is also normal. I have not had an asthmas attack in three months...no allergy attacks either. The arthritis and FMS are still there but there is little to no pain. What little there is has been completely manageable with a drop or two of oil of oregano. Whenever you begin to feel overwhelmed just remind yourself how good it will feel to be healthy again. And come in here and ask questions, etc. There is always someone around willing to try to help. Ellen [ ] I need help I am trying to get started on this way of eating and just cannot get started. Guest guest
Hi nne, The first thing I would do is buy some extra virgin coconut oil and start using that (I put mine in my tea). You could start with a teaspoon at a time, and then work up to a tablespoon at a time. Also start using the coconut oil and butter in your cooking to replace all your other fats. Use olive oil on your salads with either lemon juice or organic raw cider vinegar (some don't choose to use vinegar, but I do). I believe it is very important to get the sugar out of your diet as quickly as possible and I personally think cold turkey is best for that. The second thing to eliminate soon is all grains. When you give something up, you need to replace it with something special that you like. Buy good quality organic salad greens and eat lots of veggies with your meals, they will fill your plate. Buy good quality meats and eggs. Have some shrimp or steak or fish. Bake some herbed chicken. Some of the best tasting foods are allowed on this diet. The coconut oil will fill in the energy that you would normally get from extra carbs. I used to be the worst junk food junkie and I don't ever want to quit eating this way now. If I can do it, I believe anyone can. You will be amazed at how good you can feel when you feed your body properly. Just make small changes, keep a journal or write notes on a calender. Keep track of what you eat that you like so that you can easily repeat a meal. Keep your fridge and freezer well stocked with allowable foods. Start purging your cabinets of all those processed carbs. You can do this! It's well worth it. Jan > > > I am trying to get started on this way of eating and just cannot get > started. Guest guest
<<<<<<<<I am trying to get started on this way of eating and just cannot get started. Is there one very small thing I could start with to get myself motivated. ===== Instead of focusing on what you have to give up, focus on what you have to add. Focus on adding lots of vegetables to your diet. That is one huge step in the right direction. When you begin filling up on veggies you will have less room for the other things. I was on the American Diabetes Associations web site a few days ago and they have a " Rate Your Plate " section that recommends that you should have your plate 1/2 filled with non-starchy vegetables, 1/4 grains and/or starchy vegetables, and 1/4 meat. Then add a glass of milk. This isn't exactly " Bee's " diet and I am not promoting their diet here, but filling your plate with 1/2 vegetables may be a step in the right direction. They place starchy vegetables (potatoes, corn, peas) in with grains. =====See foods that are unhealthy for your body as poison. This may sound silly, but it can be helpful. Before I realized I had candida, I thought I had food allergies and I learned that certain foods were like poison in my system. Some very healthy foods could be just like poisons and make me sick. I started looking at them as poison and it began easier for me to avoid them. <<<<<I have numerous health issues such as hypothyroid, diabets, frequent UTI's, hormone imbalance, adrenal insuficiency, chronic fatigue, FM, asthma, allergies, acid reflux (maybe). This is just a few of the things I have. ====== I had numerous symptoms also and I am finding that as I improve my diet and begin to deal with candida my symptoms are slowly decreasing. Feeling better is one of the greatest encouragement a person can receive. You may find that as you get your candida undercontrol that many of your other symptoms and/or illnesses will go away also. <<<<<nne =====Take baby steps. Every baby step of eating a food that is good for you is a big step in the right direction. Remember half the battle is just knowing what you are battling and how to overcome it. You know you have candida and you know diet changes are a big part of overcoming it. Hope this helps some. --------------------------------- Love cheap thrills?
