Guest guest
Don't decrease the dosage and don't give it Sub Q. That thick oily testosterone is meant to go DEEP IM, Pref. the gluteal muscle,(22g 1 1/2 " needle) although the thigh (22g 1 " needle)would work. Surprised he gave you sust. and not cypionate. The absorption rate is going to be all screwed up if you give it SC (subcutaneous) and it is going to burn. So coming from an RN don't give it SC. If you can't manage to give yourself the IM, then let a spouse or Dr. do it for you. Best way to give IM is to: 1. Draw up med in syringe leaving 2ml of air in the syringe 2. put Ice on site for about 60 secs. 3. Swab area with alcohol wipe and air dry or dry with clean tissue 4. Pull the skin taught inject the needle holding the skin taught, SLOWLY inject the med and the 2ml of air, withdraw quickly. massage if desired. (BIG NOTE) Look on the interent for IM shots and make sure you are familiar with the sciatic nerve, you do NOT want to hit that. One easy way to make sure you don't hit the sciatic nerve is to draw an imaginary line from your greater trochanter (your mid hip) to the coccyx (dimples at the bottom of your spine right above your butt crack) and give the injection above that imaginary line. That will avoid the sciatic. But your Dr. or Nurse should have gone over this with you before just giving you the injectable form. Hope that helped you. There are some people including leaders in the field that are doing their testosterone injections Sub Q, but I prefer to wait until it is more accepted before I try it. The burning is from doing it Sub Q. That won't happen IM. > SLOWLY inject the med and the 2ml of air, withdraw quickly. massage > if desired. I'm not challenging your statement on injecting the air, but I have not heard of that. What is the purpose of the air? On the needle size, I would recommend 25 or 27g. I requested 27g and was given 25g and they are working well. The larger needles are for masochists IMHO. You have to warm the test cyp. up to get it to flow OK. Just run it under warm water to thin it a bit. Like all common oils, its' viscosity will reduce with temperature. That helps you to draw it through the tiny needle. It still takes a while - you just have to be patient.
Guest guest
I agree, subq with a thick oil solution is a painful way to get a medication. To find the right place on the hind end...make an L with the first finger and thumb, reach around and measure the area at the fat pad from the top of your hip so to speak. Stay away from the middle of the cheek. Only use the upper outer area. Same for the thigh. Upper outer areas are the least painful. Same with the arm. Upper outer part of the deltoid althiough anything from the center over is okay. A cold pack for a minute is a good idea but... Do not inject 2 ml. of air in to muscle! Ouch isn't the word. 2ml. of air is not appropriate, sorry, I sorely disagree. Guest guest
Oh my god, I will challenge the statement of injecting the air! Fine way to kill yourself, injecting 2ml of air into a vein, should you happen to forget to aspirate. Intentionally leaving air in the syringe goes against every " how to inject " reference I've ever read. Almost all include specific instructions to specifically " tap the syringe with your finger to move air bubbles to the top " and then to expel them before injecting. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of kincaiddave Sent: Monday, October 23, 2006 8:45 PM Subject: Re: ouch ouch ouch with subq ! > Don't decrease the dosage and don't give it Sub Q. Guest guest
Dave, It isn't uncommon to injects .1-.2ml an IM injection and there's no problem in doing so. I really think he meant to say point 2, not 2. I doubt vey much whether you'd hit a vein since you're supposed to draw back slightly before pushing meds. You'd see a blood return. It takes a whole lot more than 2 ml of air to kill a man anyhow! It would be more painful however to inject 2-3 times more air than solution by quantity though. Like I said...I think he intended to use a point....... Guest guest
Hi Dave- I saw your question and I think I can offer one possibility. Some injecters like to leave a small bubble of air in the syringe to push out -all- of the med. A standard syringe has a flat rubber tip on the plunger but theres a small conical shape at the end of the barrel where the needle is. This empty pocket retains a little of the med. The air (and I think 0.2cc would be about right) pushes this and the med in the needle itself, out. You could check this out by pulling air into the syringe after its been used in an injection and then close the plunger on something like a paper towel to see the amount that was not injected. There are some syringes on the market that are called (I think) " zero volume " where the rubber tip matches the shape of the end of the syringe of the barrel, so after injection the only med left is in the needle itself which is a very small volume. The syringes are a bit more expensive of course. I think I've also read where some injecters like to put a tiny pocket of air on top of the oil to help prevent leakage after the needle is pulled out. Not sure about that, though. I personally don't bother with any of it, its easier to just add an extra 0.2cc T if I wanted to and leave out the air. Guest guest
Dave, To answer the question, why inject any air....it clears the medication from the syringe. Guest guest
Intentionally leaving air in the syringe goes against every " how to inject " reference I've ever read. Almost all include specific instructions to specifically " tap the syringe with your finger to move air bubbles to the top " and then to expel them before injecting. ********************************************************************************\ ** I totally agree with Dave, this is the most insane thing I can think of to do. You are instructed to expel a little of the fluid to see there is no air in the syringe before injecting. DON'T EVER INJECT AIR into yourself, that is the most idiotic thing I can think of. You are also told to ex-pirate just before injecting so as to see if you hit a vein, which you didn't mention.
