Guest guest
Hi Tony and welcome. Your Estradiol is to high and if you don't get it down lower and keep it down I feel you gynecomastia can come back. We here in the US try to keep are E2 Estradiol down between 10 to 30 pg/ml so if you can convert your test you will see your over 45 I don't know how to convert it but one of the guys I talk to did his it was 137 and he was high. Yes post you test levels get copys of your tests and allways get a copy. So the ranges and units. Here is a link that shows your Total and Free T should be in the upper 1/3 of your labs range for a young man and your E2 should be between 10 to 30 for any age man. A lot of Dr.'s don't know how to read a range and tell the men that they are ok because there in the normal range. Yet they fal to see that the sample is taken from all of the men they tested age say 10 to 100 so when a Dr. sees a man in the low to mid normal range yes it is noraml but for a man over 80 yrs. old. http://www.lef.org/protocols/prtcls-txt/t-prtcl-130.html Here is a link that has levels by age. http://www.natural-hrt.com/andropause04.html Phil tonysopranostheboss <tonysopranostheboss@...> wrote: Hi there fellas, Im tony from Australia , and this is my first post here. I just had a blood test done last week to check my hormone levels prior to having gynecomastia surgery and my gp telephoned me back later saying everything was " normal " . I knew that was not the best answer to get , so I asked for the actual reference ranges and levels of the items I had asked him to test for. ie: lh,fsh, prolaction, shbg, oestradial , testosterone , free androgen now I dont remember the exact figures he told me (I never wrote anything down - stupid I know!) , though they all seemed to be mid-range figures, but one thing I do recall is that he said my estradiol was 158 and the male-ref-range here in AUS. is <160 (whatever the australian unit of measurement is), but he didnt specify if this was an age-specific figure or whatnot. now Im thinking this is way too high to be a good thing, for a guy whos 25, and otherwise very healthy and fit. what is your consensus ? and what is the next step for me? I would like to resolve any potential problems relating to these test results before I have gynecomastia surgery in 6 weeks time , without seeing an endo if possible - due to the huge cost of such a consult. I can go and collect the exact test results and post them here tomorrow if that helps. many thanks in advance fellas... Tony

Guest guest
Hey Tony - and Welcome to the group. Yes we really need to see your results and ranges to make an educated guess. Initially, since you have had bouts with Gyno and your E2 is high, I would suggest an aromatase inhibitor which will reduce the E2 and increase the T in your case. Most popular here in the states is Arimidex which must be prescribed and is really strong. Is your libido OK and erections OK - If this is the case then your T probably is OK. My 2 cents - Arkansas tonysopranostheboss <tonysopranostheboss@...> wrote: Hi there fellas, Im tony from Australia , and this is my first post here. Guest guest
Hey again fellas, Im back with the actual results ( though my gp thinks Im a total hypochondriac for requesting these, since the results he got were all " normal " ) here they are: (keep in mind that these are the results of australian pathological testing methods) -prolactin 155 mIU/L (0-500) , abbott method -fsh - 3.3 U/L (male 1.0-9.2) -lh - 1.8 U/L (male 2.0-8.0) - testosterone - 18.2 nmol/L (ref adult 8.0-38.0) -shbg - 31 nmol/L ( 10 -50) - free androgen index - 59 % ( 20-130) - oestradiol 158 pmol/L (male <160) - roche method I have no clue about any of this kinda stuff, though going on what Ive read about having estradiol in the bottom 2/3 of the range, I could tell thaT WAS high immediately (even though the gp, re- iterated to me that in the range is still " in the range " - tssk) ps: could these tests have been affected by things such as diet, sleep, last occasion of ejaculation, vitamins etc. on the testing day ? SO WHAT do u guys make of them?? any feedback would be greatly appreciated. many thanks Tony > Hi there fellas, > Im tony from Australia , and this is my first post here. > I am 25 and have had stable and rather minor case of gynecomastia for > about 4-5 years. Guest guest
Hi Tony So far all we have about your medical history and symptoms is " > I just had a blood test done last week to check my hormone levels prior to having gynecomastia surgery " The overall blood tests are not showing any significant disorder and so one needs to know your symtpoms. Also can you confirm if you have taken any hormones such as TRT prior? The endocrine system is extensive and includes many different sub-systems and so currently only a small part has been tested and even that has not been investigated in detail yet.. Lets have some medical history and what symptoms you are suffering and how frequent / how severe. This might allow us to direct you for other tests other areas. How this helps? Kind regards, Re: need help re: interpreting blood test results- australia > Hey again fellas, > Im back with the actual results ( though my gp thinks Im a total > hypochondriac for requesting these, since the results he got were > all " normal " ) > > here they are: (keep in mind that these are the results of > australian pathological testing methods) > > > -prolactin 155 mIU/L (0-500) , abbott method > > -fsh - 3.3 U/L (male 1.0-9.2) > > -lh - 1.8 U/L (male 2.0-8.0) > > - testosterone - 18.2 nmol/L (ref adult 8.0-38.0) > > -shbg - 31 nmol/L ( 10 -50) > > - free androgen index - 59 % ( 20-130) > > - oestradiol 158 pmol/L (male <160) - roche method > > I have no clue about any of this kinda stuff, though going on what > Ive read about having estradiol in the bottom 2/3 of the range, I > could tell thaT WAS high immediately (even though the gp, re- > iterated to me that in the range is still " in the range " - tssk) > > ps: could these tests have been affected by things such as > diet, sleep, last occasion of ejaculation, vitamins etc. on the > testing day ? > > SO WHAT do u guys make of them?? > any feedback would be greatly appreciated. > > many thanks > > Tony > > >> Hi there fellas, >> Im tony from Australia , and this is my first post here. >> I am 25 and have had stable and rather minor case of gynecomastia > for >> about 4-5 years. Guest guest
Yes you T is in the normal range but for a 75 to 80 yr. old man. Your Dr. is one of many that does not know about the bell curve and the lab makes there range from all the tests done on all the men the did blood work for from age 10 to 100. Your range is in the bottom say 15% not normal for your age. http://www.natural-hrt.com/andropause04.html He thinks your hypochondriac but he needs to brush up on his math. I feel you could bring up your T levels by getting you E2 down my Dr. has has some success doing this by treating the high E2 getting it down will bring up the T levels for are units some 200 to 300 points. Try getting some Indolplex/DIM from this site they send all over the world it may take 4 to 6 weeks to get it but it works. Start taking one half a tablet a day and if your get some real hard morning wood then you know you got your E2 down. If you lose it you went to low stop taking it and when the wood comes back go back on it but cut the dose in half. Keep doing this until you find the right dose. http://www.ritecare.com/prodsheets/PHY-15336.html And take some TMG with it DIM converts E2 into good E's and TMG helps the liver wash them out of your body. http://www.myvitanet.com/tmgtr75120ca.html Also take some Zinc/Copper 50 mgs of Zinc to 2 mgs of Copper. http://www.myvitanet.com/zincop100cnt.html Phil tonysopranostheboss <tonysopranostheboss@...> wrote: Hey again fellas, Im back with the actual results ( though my gp thinks Im a total hypochondriac for requesting these, since the results he got were all " normal " ) here they are: (keep in mind that these are the results of australian pathological testing methods) -prolactin 155 mIU/L (0-500) , abbott method -fsh - 3.3 U/L (male 1.0-9.2) -lh - 1.8 U/L (male 2.0-8.0) - testosterone - 18.2 nmol/L (ref adult 8.0-38.0) -shbg - 31 nmol/L ( 10 -50) - free androgen index - 59 % ( 20-130) - oestradiol 158 pmol/L (male <160) - roche method I have no clue about any of this kinda stuff, though going on what Ive read about having estradiol in the bottom 2/3 of the range, I could tell thaT WAS high immediately (even though the gp, re- iterated to me that in the range is still " in the range " - tssk) ps: could these tests have been affected by things such as diet, sleep, last occasion of ejaculation, vitamins etc. on the testing day ? Guest guest
Hi guys, many thanks for the feedback thus far. much appreciated. So as far as my blood results go,the general consensus is that all items are normal except for the high estradiol, and possibly the shbg too, correct? although my estradiol is 158 pmol/L (male <160), this is very near crossing over the line for a male, and it shouldnt be above the lower third of the range anyway... again,More stats about me. I am 25 years old. I am 5 " 8ft tall and weigh between 135-145 pounds. I have also taken 25mg of zinc daily for 18 months as well as a multivitamin. I dont use any recreational or other drugs , and only drink alcohol once or twice a month, though i do drink to get drunk when I drink. I have also been taking ibuprofen tablets fairly regularly (once or twice weekly or bi-weekly) following a severe shoulder dislocation 18 months ago. I do work our regularly , both with weights and cardio, play tennis and would consider myself very fit. Have never used any steroids or hormones of any kind, but smoked a lot of dope as a teen, which I havent used in about 4-5 years. [ I hope thats all comprehensive enough history] before seeing the test results of last week (seen below in this thread) I would never have suspected a hormonal imbalance. The only symptoms I have had was gynecomastia, that I had removed a year ago. It had been stable (not growing, at least noticeably) for 3 years , and there have been no signs of regrowth since my surgery 12 months ago. Also have been somewhat depressed for the last couple of years, though I could eassily put that down directly to the torment of having lived with gynecomastia (and still needing a minor revision for subsequent surgical scarring) So Im just wondering.... Is it best to get my gp to refer me to an endo , before trying to correct the issue myself ?- I mean I would like to get to the bottom of why my estradiol is elevated , rather than just correcting it without understanding why. and would treatment options for reducing my estradiol be likely to involve having to take pills, supps, etc forever and ever, or is it the type of thing where you take them to lower the level and then thats it ? ie: once its lowered, its lowered and one can stop taking medication/supps?? Thanks so much in advance fellas, Im pretty much in the dark here, so far as hormone issues and levels go. Its the first time I have even entertained the possibility of having an imbalance, following past blood tests results being relayed back to me as " normal " cheers,again.. Tony ps: are there any other overt symptoms of Elevated Estradiol alone, that I should be on the lookout for?? > > Hi Tony > > So far all we have about your medical history and symptoms is " > I just had > a blood test done last week to check my hormone levels prior to having > gynecomastia surgery " > > The overall blood tests are not showing any significant disorder and so one > needs to know your symtpoms. Guest guest
Hi Tony, I sent you a long post and I guess it did not go through. Here in the US for me Endo's are not good at low T and high Estradiol. So for what that is worth. You need to get on Testosterone meds I would start on the gel. Some times when you get your T levels up your Estradiol balances out or should I say the ratio gets better. Your Estradiol is very high. 158 is 45.6 in US units you should be between 10 to 30 in US units. Here is a converter. http://www.get-back-on-track.com/en/tools/umrechner.php Your Total T 18.2 = 525 in US units normal for a man 65 to 74 yrs. old here is a link that has T ranges by age. http://www.natural-hrt.com/andropause04.html No your test will not be affected by what you did. For you I would try getting your Estradiol down first doing this can bring up you Total T some 200 to 300 point in US units. Here is a link. http://www.medibolics.com/ArimidexBoostsTestosterone.htm This could put you up over the upper 1/3 of your labs range. You see high Estradiol takes up the space in the Leydig cell so the T can't get in. So when your brain checks your T it thinks the Estradiol is T it can't tell the difference. So your brain does not send the LH to your Testis and Leydig cells to make T. And you end up low. A good link to read. http://www.lef.org/protocols/prtcls-txt/t-prtcl-130.html If you can't get your Dr. to give you Arimidex start at one half a one mg. pill every 3 days. Get some Indolplex/DIM it is sold OTC here and they send all over the world. http://www.ritecare.com/prodsheets/PHY-15336.html Start with one tablet a day when your Estradiol starts to come down your libido will go why up and you will get some real hard morning wood the kind that wakes you up. keep taking it but if your libido stops and the wood stops this means you went to low. When your libido and wood comes back go back on it but cut the tablet in half. Keep doing this until you find the right dose.
