Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm not as well-versed as everyone else on here with regards to TRT, and I'm looking for some advice before I see my doc early next week. I have secondary hypogonadism due to an eating disorder, meaning that my body should still be able to produce sufficient testosterone, it just was temporarily unable to do so due to malnutrition. I have been on injectable testosterone replacement therapy for about 7 months, which raised my levels from an initial low of about 75 to about 550 now. The plan has always been to stop the TRT when my body recovered to a healthy weight and was able to produce its own again. Obviously, I'm a little apprehensive about stopping the TRT because I don't want to go back to feeling like crap again, and it's hard to predict how quickly my body will start making its own testosterone (and if it will at all). So I have a few questions. First, has anyone dealt with a situation like this, and if so how did you deal with it? Second, I have heard about various drugs that can try to " kick start " your own body's production of T - would any of these be indicated and are there any good sites that explain these drugs? Finally, my doc is a good MD but is not an endocrinologist - are there any endocrinologists who are patricularly good in this area that I should try either to contact or get an appt. with? I saw an endo previously and she said that she had some colleagues up in Boston, I think, that were experts in this area, but I haven't talked to this doc for a while. Finally, is there anything else that I should do or ask my doctor about that I am forgetting about? Thanks very much for the help. Guest guest
Most here don't like endos at all, few have reported good dealings with them outside of diabetes and sometimes thyroid issues. HCG is supposed to make you generate your own T...it's a fertility drug I believe, but used here by many to add a little umph to there therapy and to keep the " boz " in good shape and size. I believe the doc I use adjusts T dosages in 20mg steps over 6 weeks or so. I'd SPECULATE that to wean off you would start dosing of HCG and gradually drop your Test injectionsby 20 mg every 6 weeks, testing along the way to make sure your indegonous levels are up...eventually waning off the HCG as you went along. I hope I can be in your situation someday, looking for a way to get off the stuff easily. Good luck. > Weaning off testosterone > > >Hi everyone, >I'm not as well-versed as everyone else on here with regards >to TRT, and I'm looking for some advice before I see my doc >early next week. Guest guest
I was not going to get into this one because I just don't know but you said your Dr. is a good MD if he is then he will work with Dr. over the phone if Dr. can't help you I feel he can no one will. Ask your Dr. and send an Email or call Dr. . http://www.allthingsmale.com/ Phil Dave <daultman@...> wrote: Most here don't like endos at all, few have reported good dealings with them outside of diabetes and sometimes thyroid issues. Guest guest
Thank you for the advice. I hadn't even thought of HCG - last time I saw my endo she mentioned that my HCG levels were at the low end of normal and that supplementation may be indicated if they are still low when she retests them. Do you (or anyone) have any experience with clomid? I remember reading a study (although I can't find it) showing that clomid was helpful in restarting the natural testosterone production of bodybuilders whose production had been shut down by enxogenous steroids. I'm in a somewhat similar situation although on a smaller scale - my internal production is likely being suppressed because of the external testosterone I am recieving. Someone on another board suggested that the same technique may be helpful for me - stopping the exogenous testosterone and simultaneously starting clomid - but I'm not sure that my doctor/endo (whoever I see) is going to be aware of this treatment unless bring in some studies supporting it. > > Most here don't like endos at all, few have reported good dealings with them > outside of diabetes and sometimes thyroid issues. > > HCG is supposed to make you generate your own T...it's a fertility drug I > believe, but used here by many to add a little umph to there therapy and to > keep the " boz " in good shape and size. > > I believe the doc I use adjusts T dosages in 20mg steps over 6 weeks or so. > I'd SPECULATE that to wean off you would start dosing of HCG and gradually > drop your Test injectionsby 20 mg every 6 weeks, testing along the way to > make sure your indegonous levels are up...eventually waning off the HCG as > you went along. > > I hope I can be in your situation someday, looking for a way to get off the > stuff easily. > > Good luck. > > > Weaning off testosterone > > > > > >Hi everyone, > >I'm not as well-versed as everyone else on here with regards > >to TRT, and I'm looking for some advice before I see my doc > >early next week. Guest guest
I think clomiphene is your best bet. If you can get a copy of this, it might be helpful: http://www.medibolics.com/Clomid.htm Brad > > > > Most here don't like endos at all, few have reported good dealings > with them > > outside of diabetes and sometimes thyroid issues. > > > > HCG is supposed to make you generate your own T...it's a fertility > drug I > > believe, but used here by many to add a little umph to there therapy > and to > > keep the " boz " in good shape and size. > > > > I believe the doc I use adjusts T dosages in 20mg steps over 6 weeks > or so. > > I'd SPECULATE that to wean off you would start dosing of HCG and > gradually > > drop your Test injectionsby 20 mg every 6 weeks, testing along the > way to > > make sure your indegonous levels are up...eventually waning off the > HCG as > > you went along. > > > > I hope I can be in your situation someday, looking for a way to get > off the > > stuff easily. > > > > Good luck. > > > > > Weaning off testosterone > > > > > > > > >Hi everyone, > > >I'm not as well-versed as everyone else on here with regards > > >to TRT, and I'm looking for some advice before I see my doc > > >early next week.
