Guest guest
Hi Hank, I did my last HCG shot the day before yesterday and it was 27 days old. I do 500 IU's every 3 days the day before my T shot of 64mgs. every 3 days. I did not get that feeling of well being I get after my HCG shot. I did my T shot yesterday and this morning I got up feeling on my ass. I called my Dr. and told him I felt the HCG did not work on my last shot so he said to mix a new one today. Wow now that is what I am talking about what a lift. So I am finding it goes bad in 27 days. And yes get rid of it. It was made by APP labs and would last 60 days but APP started makeing there own HCG so Novarel had to find a new lab to make it for them and the water they use is different then what APP used. When APP made Novarel it lasted over 60 day. Now APP makes there own and it is good for 60 days but does not work for me. I was on it for 4 weeks and crashed. Phil maverick_2414 <maverick_2414@...> wrote: Hi all! From the package insert and reading on here, the HCG I am using, Novarel, is only good for 30 days. Since I am on just 500ius three times a week, I have extra left over after 30 days are up. Around 4000ius actually. I was just wondering if everyone using Novarel throws out at exactly 30 days? If not, how long after 30 days do you use the Novarel? I hate to waste ($$$) but what should I do... thanks, Hank
Guest guest
It's really ridiculous. First, trying to get a script for HCG is near impossible, then you worry if the insurance will cover it, and now after going through all that, its in short supply. I know there was some suggestions over at the Meso-Rx board of trying to freeze some of the stuff and extend its life, but I guess that dosen't work too well. HCG is one of those things that, once its dissolved, " the clock is ticking " even if its frozen. I've taken a more radical approach to the problem, and I'm not about to suggest this as a remedy, but as a last resort I've opened the vial containing the HCG powder, split it into three equal amounts, and put them in their own capped vials. We'll see how that works. Rich > Hi all! From the package insert and reading on here, the HCG I am > using, Novarel, is only good for 30 days. Guest guest
Hi. I called the manufacturer not to long ago and was told that novarel lasts. That the 30 day expiration limit was due to contamination fears. For example, you should run the rubber top with the alcohol wipe and of course your injection site. The Hcg I was told does not expire in the sense thatit loses its power but it expires because people arent using hygene. > > Hi all! Guest guest
What is the shelf life of unmixed HCG powder? I thought it was only the mixed product that had a 30 day shelf life!?!? I've never done HCG and my pharmacist didn't know the answer to these questions. ASaxon > > Hi all! The manufacturer describes the unreconstituted powder as " stable " . The unreconstituted powder is to be maintained at 59 - 86 degrees Farenheit. The individual packages should have an imprinted lot number and expiration date. I would go by the expiration date imprinted. Brad
Guest guest
Rich, I think you might be onto something dividing up the powder. I wish I had some spare vials to do the same. Guest guest
I wish this was true but it is not APP was making Novarel and stopped to make there own. A new lab makes Novarel and the water they use dose not last more then 27 day for me. The shot I did on the 27th day after it was mixed did nothing for me. I get a feeling of well being after doing my HCG shot with Novarel got nothing on the last shot that was 27 days old. APP has HCG and the water they have is I guess theirs and is good for 60 days. Problem with APP brand for me is I don't get that feeling of well being and after using it for a week I started crashing my levels went down. Guys on the web talk about useing a water that they claim will make it last 60 days. But I don't want to mess around doing crap like this you never know what will happen messing with or changing a drug. Phil <tonyknocker123@...> wrote: Hi. How would divide the powder and get your dose correct? You could get a scale but one of suitable precision will also cost some $$$. Seems like you are causing yourself problems to save a relatively small amount of money. Brad
Guest guest
Well, like I say, I'm not recommending this approach, but I don't remember anyone else posting about trying it, so I figured what the heck, I'll try it. Its not about the money, it the sheer waste of effort and material in getting the HCG in the first place and then end up tossing out the unused amount. I've already got the balance (a Mettler Torsion balance.) Its a mechanical-type balance and I salvaged one when my place of business was throwing them out in place of electronic balances. Its plenty accurate. I worked with a lot of lyophilized compounds when I was a chemist before I retired. The vials, septums, caps and cap pliers I got online. The pliers were a little pricey but everything else was cheap. I admit I could really use a glove bag and a cylinder of dry nitrogen, but thats beyond my present capacity. (I imagine the HCG doses in solution are freeze-dried directly in the vials and mechanically capped on the assembly line for sterility.) For the record, the HCG powder weighed 130mg, which is typical for a freeze-dried solid; low density. I split it up into three 43mg portions and put them into three vials (I used the original vial as one of the three) set the septum and aluminum cap and crimped them. The portions may not be extremely accurate but as long as I can get three equal portions, that what I need. You have to figure the hypodermic syringe isn't that accurate, either. I was a little worried about the solid being hygroscopic as a lot of lyophilized powders with their large surface area will absorb atmospheric humidity like a sponge. Some of them are also electrostatic as hell too, clinging to every surface. But HCG looks like one of the stable ones, it was easy to handle. I've already injected a weeks worth from one vial (at 100iu/day sub-q) with no ill effects (frankly, I'd be surprised if I did experience something bad.) In terms of absolute sterility, how many can say that they can, say, split an Arimidex tablet into fourths of a pill, without using their fingers? I can't. OK, so maybe I'm on a fools errand, but at least I can say I tried. Rich > > > > Rich, > > I think you might be onto something dividing up the powder. Guest guest
A retired chemist brings certain skills to the task that others may not have. If I were determined to do this, I might ask a compounding pharmacist to perform the procedure for me as he or she would likely have the required equipment, skills and training. Splitting arimidex isn't really the same thing since it is ingested orally instead of being injected. I orally ingest non-sterile things all the time. I'm more risk averse when it comes to injecting things. I would agree that getting an hcg script is unnecessarily difficult in the first place. Guest guest
Brad- You're right about the Arimidex; it was an afterthought at the end and after I posted, I thought it might have been a weak example. The other example I was thinking of is: you know that when you're injecting HGC over 30 days, that you're putting the outside air in the vial. There's no way to avoid it. That same air that has every normal air-borne pathogen or, hell, if your injecting in the kitchen, the aroma of last nights chili. Those are everyday risks. I know people who actually avoid door handles, trying to prevent catching some contact virus. I'm also in favor of the injections in this case being sub-q rather than IM. I get a lot of skin punctures in life, from paper cuts to rose thorns. With IM, I think I'd be a little more nervous. I'd also be curious about how a compounding pharmacist would handle this. I don't so go ahead and do what you are doing sounds good to me and saving material and time and effort too. Good reply.
