Guest guest
If she hurt a nerve, you would have KNOWN it at the time, trust me. When I hit a nerve, it took a couple of days to feel alright afterwards. It's possible to have internal bruising that takes days to reach the surface, if it ever does. Example, I was mountain biking on Saturday and took a fall....hit my thigh on the handlebars...no visible bruising for two days, but tenderness. Now my whole thigh has a 5 " diameter blue/yellow bruise at the surface. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of mdw1000 Sent: Friday, October 13, 2006 8:40 AM Subject: Hello again... pain at injection site Hey guys, Haven't been on the groups in awhile due to other things going on. I hope everyone is doing well. I did have a question. I got my weekly shot tuesday night. As usual in the rear end. For some reason it hurt more this time, and since then it feels like I have a big bruise. But there is no discoloration or swelling. Could she have hit a nerve, and if so how long should I expect it to hurt? Thanks! Mark
Guest guest
I don't feel she hit a nerve if she did you would have gone through the roof. What size needle is she using. If I were you I would try using a small 27g. 1ml x 1/2 " lg. needle and shoot into your thigh. My Dr. gave me shots in the rear using a 25g x 1.5 " lg. needle. One day he was out of town and the other Dr. used a 20g 1.5 " lg. needle and it hurt for a week. Guest guest
It is possible the sciatic nerve was speared. This happened to me and it hurt for a week. Guest guest
Hey Mark, What volume are you shooting? Once you get close to 0.5cc, just the volume can cause discomfort. Also, I think injection rate is an issue also. When I have had painful shots, usually 3 days it is gone. Guest guest
Nick, I think if a nerve is struck, anyone would have no doubt about it. ESPECIALLY the sciatic. If a nerve is struck, it will feel like a lighting bolt shooting down your leg. You will definately know it happened. There's nothing like it. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Nick O'Hara Sent: Friday, October 13, 2006 9:27 AM Subject: RE: Hello again... pain at injection site It is possible the sciatic nerve was speared. Guest guest
Phil, She's using the 25 gauge, 1.5 inch. She's been doing it this way for almost two years, so I don't know what was different about this time. Mark
Guest guest
Arkansas, We are doing .7cc, or 140mg once per week. That puts me right at the top of the normal range 2 days after the shot. But we've been doing this same volume for months now. One thing is that we've been injecting soley on the right side for awhile. There always seemed to be more pain on the left side, so we figured i had more nerves over there or something. I wouldn't think once a week injections would build up any kind of damage, but i don't know for sure. Mark
Guest guest
Well, it was pretty painful at the time, but I wouldn't call it agony or anything like that. Although I have been told once or twice that I seem to have a high pain threshold. Thanks for the info guys. I will let you know how it turns out. Not going to worry about calling the doc for awhile, especially since we are going on vacation tomorrow. Hopefully all the time in the car won't be too painful on the butt Mark
Guest guest
Mark I was doing 150 mgs. a week and switched to every 3 days after reading that Dr. Shippen does this to him self now. My Dr. let me use a 27g 1ml x 1/2 " lg. needle and I shoot .32 mls = 64 mgs of 200mgs./ml Depo T every 3 days. I have less pain shooting into my thigh and stay more leveled with a lot less E2 problems. Guest guest
Phil, Thanks for the info! I'm using 200mg/ml. I will try alternating the sides based on your recommendation. If I continue to have problems I'll talk to my doc about trying the thigh. Thanks again, Mark
Guest guest
Great here is a link to the thread about Dr. Shippen. My Dr. would not let me do it subQ and I don't like doing it I tried it. http://forum.mesomorphosis.com/mens-health-forum/injecting-testosterone-subcutan\ eously-134237662.html?highlight=subcutaneously Phil mdw1000 <mdw1000@...> wrote: Phil, Thanks for the info! Guest guest
Hi Mark- I had an injection in the rear that hurt like that. I would guess its the sciatic nerve that got hit, although it sure didn't feel like a nerve getting stabbed. I know, I've hit enough nerves in my thighs. That " electric shock " is unmistakable. I didn't have any bruise, either. This was just a plain ache and it was from the needle, not the injection of the T.cyp. Its almost like he hit a pelvic bone back there for all I know (I don't think the needle was long enough for that.) Maybe the sciatic nerve hurts differently than a regular nerve when it gets stabbed. I think I read in worst case it can cause temporary paralysis. The glutes are supposed to be preferred for injections over the thighs because they have more muscle and less nerves and blood vessels, and I'd probably inject there more often if I didn't have to use mirrors and such to see what I was doing. There's an area of injection, though, the upper right quadrant, that you're supposed to stay in, in order to avoid hitting the sciatic nerve. Maybe the nurse was a little outside that zone. Anyway, according to my medical notes, mine hurt for eight days and it was one of the reasons (the last straw, actually) that I went to self injection.
