I am 47 and have the same problem - testes don't make enough and went through the same process as you, gels, patches and ended up on shots. I have settled out on between 60 and 80 mg every 7 days. At that rate, my E2 is still elevated so I started taking arimidex to control it. My rationale was I felt good on 60-80 per week, good erections and libido so why screw with it. High E2 also has long term affects especially with cardio vascular and prostate so it is good to get down. I started out at 0.25 mg (1/4th of a pill) on the same day I get my shot. I have since moved up to 0.5 mgs with each shot. When I tried 0.5 mg twice per week, started loosing morning wood and libido so I backed off. I am going to try the 0.5 mg every 7 days for a while and then get tested. I would propose you stay on 80 mgs (since you felt good), take arimidex and donate blood every 2 months. FREE Testesterone SERUM 162 pg/ml RANGE 52-280 HEMOGLOBLIN 17.2 g/dl RANGE 12.6 - 17.4 hemocrit 50.3% Packed Red cell volume range 37.0 - 51 The blood is ok however getting near the top limit I was right- my Estradoil is to high!!. I feel warm and itchy or prickly off and on, Mild not a major bother but i know someting not right and think it is the high estradoil . In any event i need the Estradoil DOWN! The Doc maild me the tests and noted the high Estradiol and said to lower shots from 80 to 60 MG also nuse called My shot is due today . I do not want to go lower on my T readings Should i ask the Doc for a RX for Arimidex or what to lower the Estradoil to a normal range. As for the Estradiol no don't drop your T dose you will crash and feel like shit. Yes doing this can lower Estradiol but will also set you back. You need to tell your Dr. that most of us men on TRT need to take some thing to keep Estradiol down. I need my T up over 800 doing this drives up my Estradiol. In all the yrs. on TRT I could not keep my levels up over 800. Last yr. He read it and said ok I started doing my T shots every week shooting in my thy. adding HCG my levels doubled and now after all of these yrs I feel my best. But doing this has my Estradiol up so I feel it is a small price to pay taking Arimidex to keep it down. Now today I am doing my T shots every 3 days doing 52 mgs and doing my HCG shots 100 IU's everyday. This has helped a lot with my Estradiol. I use a small needle to do my shots in my leg. I use a 27g 1ml x 1/2 " lg. needle some say doing this is subQ not IM but my tests on this for over a yr. are dam good. Is there other Estrogen levels to check? I've read a good link regarding Low Progesterone that is the same as Estrogen dominance (link is diagnoseme.com)..u need a password i think. Anyway, my E2 was 18 than 34 than 19 all taken same time and within 4 mos of eachother. I'm not on TRT as my T levels are 465ng/dl...yes low for a 30yo but I'm more interested in understanding why before TRT. I'm taking HypoThyroidism meds as my TSH levels are 2.9 and HypoT runs in my mom's family. I felt great first week but than tapered off...dosage needs to be increased but i have to wait 2 more weeks. Anyway, I still have the symptoms of high Estrogen but my E2 doesn't say so. I had my progresterone levels checked and will get the results by monday. Has anyone used progesterone to lower their estrogen issues as ive read that it balances E. I should have my total E numbers here shortly....along with progesterone levels. I've read that progesterone can balance out E. Your T & free T are below mid-range; I think any benefits from lowering E2 by reducing T would be offset by the lower T. Should you treat the high E2? Depends on how you're feeling. You mention " My sex life is back " but " I feel warm and itchy or prickly off and on, Mild not a major bother but i know someting not right and think it is the high estradoil . " . Labs confirm it's the E2. With mild symptoms, you might want to start with zinc supplements and/or Indolplex with DIM. Re-evaluate symptoms & get tested in 6-8 weeks. If symptoms and tests then still suggest high E2, ask the doc for Arimidex. Just my opinion. Guest guest Posted February 27, 2006 Report Share Posted February 27, 2006 My E2 came back very high at 150 but my doctor didn't want to put me on Arimidex because I am only 30 years old with no children yet and he said a side effect of Arimidex is that it can make you impotent. So he gave me a prescription for Prometrium, which is Progesterone in a capsule form. I have tried this before and it made me feel much better. I will go get my blood work again in a month to see if it brings down the E2 but I notice I feel better already after just 3 days of taking it. I was also thinking of trying the Indoplex with DIM. Is that a natural product I can buy at the healthstore? Guest guest Posted February 27, 2006 Report Share Posted February 27, 2006 Yes let me give them to you. http://www.ritecare.com/prodsheets/PHY-15336.html Start with one tablet and when your libido goes way up and you get real hard morning wood you will know you E2 is coming down keep taking it but if this stops it means you went to low so stop until it comes back then go back on it but cut the dose in half. Keep doing this until you find the right dose. And form time to time like a blood test shows your high again start over with on tablet again. I take it at Dinner E2 goesn up at night when you sleeping. So for now I will just use the Prometrium since it seems to be working. Im waiting for my Estrogen bloodwork to come back and will go from there.
