Phil I read that whole theis on Thyroid and it certainly is a good read and most

of

it is uinderstandable. She sure has done her homework on FT3 and FT4 hasn't

she. What are you taking for the Thyroid now, and how is is reacting for you?

My Endo checkef my T3 but never the T4. I was in midrange which she seems

to go along with especially for patients with cardiovascular disease.

Has anyone tried Alvidar for low thyroid symptems? Sounds good

and without a prescription too. Gaining too much weight and can't

get it off? Feel tired and depressed? Read article.

No you are not being bad. Bad is when you know something is wrong with

you and you do not value your life enough to do something about it. I

think I earned the right to make that statement. A lot of the people

on stopthethyroidmadness.com have cut out all the bullshit with

endocrinologists and carefully treat themself. I am love_en on the

mesomorphosis forum, the one who is " normal " , according to the

endocrinologists. The reason why 3/4gr Armour is making you feel

better, is you are doing it the right way. The prescribing information

states in black and white not to give thyroid to untreated adrenal

insufficiency patients. But because endos cannot comprehend anything

other than reference ranges, thyroid gets a bad rap. The only time a

physiological dose of thyroid is toxic is when there is untreated

adrenal insufficiency. You do know that thyroid replacement is like

testosterone replacement. At some point in time you will be on 3+ gr

of Armour and the equivalent of 30 mg of hydrocortisone. I am eagerly

awaiting my prednisolone and Florinef. Being sick for most of my life

is getting old. If doctors have not been able to figure out what is

wrong with me all these years, I do not expect miracles now.

>

> I am being a bad boy my wife has some Armour left over a dose she is

not on anymore. So I took the 90mg pills and cut them in half 5 days

ago to see how I would feel. Wow just taking this half a pill what a

difference.

Yes I know where your coming from it's been a long hard 22 yrs. for me and

tomorrow when I see my Dr. if he will not treat my thyroid and low cortisol I

will be in your boat up shits creek in a cement boat with a dam big hole in it.

I hate having to find a new Dr. and will try but if I can't find one I will keep

doing otc stuff as long as it works for me. When I got my Dr. to let me do

Isocort he said just take one pill but when I saw how good it made me feel I

kept upping the dose to now 8 pills a day = about 20 mgs of cortisol. And when

I see him I will tell him so.

Hey Phil,

It sounds like you are on the right track with Armour. I am so sorry

you have had these problems, far too long Phil. I don't expect any

miracles but if you don't mind I will say a prayer that they

finally find out the whole truth about your condition. No one

should not have to go through what you have been through with doctors

in today's world of medical knowledge. Seems all any of them

want is the almighty buck anymore.

May God Bless you with better health my friend!!!

I do not think I am in a cement boat with a big hole. But my life has

the potential to go up shit creek. I tried for many years to sustain

myself on OTC stuff. I credit my being around to bitch about all the

doctors I have seen to Chinese medicine. I used to see a woman in

Chinatown. Right away, she saw what was wrong with me. Her

prescription was to eat as much salt as I could stand. Next was some

highly concentrated extracts of ginseng and licorice that I was to take

several times per day. On that stuff, I went from 90 lbs to 130 lbs,

started growing facial hair and started to do things men do. I kept

this up from 1991 to 2005. Then the inconvenience of having to take an

extract several times a day and the expense were becoming tiresome. A

month's supply of ginseng is over $100. On top of that, the effect of

this is not as consistent as a weekly shot. I was also getting to the

point of licorice not controlling the adrenal symptoms as well as I

would like. The effect of licorice is to predominantly reduce the

breakdown of aldosterone. That is why most people cannot take

licorice. They have a greater need for cortisol. In my case, I need

both, although aldosterone does have some of the effects of cortisol.

This also does not work if you do not produce enough to begin with.

That is where I think I am at now.

Doing what needs to be done with testosterone, prednisolone and

Florinef is much less costly and more convenient. I never got the same

feeling of wellbeing that you do from HCG. It does work to maintain

form and function of my male parts though. I can only speculate that

HCG did not do anything to raise my cortisol/aldosterone. Given my

history and symptoms, I probably need aldosterone replacement

If you are up to 8 Isocort, that is the max. The problem with crude

adrenal extracts is they also contain the stimulant fractions such as

adrenaline. The knowledge of and Val at the other forum has been

invaluable. Without I would have passed of my weird response to

an ACTH stim test as normal and though it was all in my head.

A long time ago, I told myself that I would never be shooting myself in

the leg every week. Here I am doing that. What is less of a surprise

to me is the need for cortisol replacement. I spent my entire

childhood hating warm weather because of how sick it made me. " Federal

Law Prohibits the Transfer of This Prescription to Another Person " .

Phil, you have just been inducted into my world of the medical outlaw.

It is a scandal that you and I must sneak around and do what we should

not be doing, just to have our health.
