You could consider a compound pharmacy to have the gel custom mixed

and just avoid the whole mess with insurances. gets his custom

made @ 10 mg/gm of gel. A 30 day supply costs 30 dollars. No muss,

no fuss and we get exactly the dose intended in a much more

conveinent dose size. His Uro is more than cooperative in writing a

compound script. Perhaps yours will be too.

Did he have any good/bad experiences with Androgel or Testim? And they

compare pretty equally? On Testim, not only did I crash badly, but my

taste buds were out of whack too....food hardly had any taste at all.

To answer your question, yes, did use Androgel. Says the he

believes the compound works some better. He believes it absorbs

better. 's also used the patch but it couldn't deliver enough

testosterone. Plus, they aren't very convienent for a firefighter..

lost too many of them. He did only so-so on them anyway.

Not to be an over protective stranger.... and I know this might get

me in trouble in here, but...I agree with your Doc, at least right

now. Try the topicals (Testim or compound) before resorting to

shots. Shots may be what you end up with in the end, who knows. Any

little bit of scarring you can avoid, I say avoid it for as long as

I am at the point where what ever works best for me is what I am going

to do no matter the inconvenience or process involved. The gels were

working fine for the 3 weeks I was on them, and then switched to shots

at my request. The shots took me on rollercoaster rides where the

middle of my cycle (125mg/week CYP) was the worst time. The day of my

shot, ok....the day after, ok at first...the next day, terrible....the

next 2 days, soso....days six and seven, better. When I was on gels, I

reported (to my journal) that I had mostly all good days...some of the

physical things like nervousness were still there, but mood was good

and I can function as long as my mood stays. I have persistant

insomnia, shakes, very hard heartbeats, and testicle pain most of the

day, but that is something I can ignore...the total apathetic mood and

loss of concentration/focus/memory is what wipes me out. It is at that

point that I believe my already high E2 is having a conversion. I just

got a call from my nurse due to labs that weren't reported to me. The

labs I requested with my E2 levels on gels recently. She wouldn't give

them to me the other day because the doctor wasn't there, but I can go

pick them up in a bit. She did confirm that my E2 was high.

When I went back to gels after about a 5-6 week shot period, I started

back on 7.5 Androgel. That day was bad mood. Next day I tapered to

6.25mg mood was total apathetic, next day I took 5mg, same thing. I

didn't notice the 'good mood' I used to have. Maybe due to not doing

7.5mg, but I am running out of gel and I can't get the scrip right as

you saw from my post. It is frustrating me, and I had to take another

shot this past Sunday to try to salvage my falling mood. It has been

so bad in the past I was suicidal a year ago. That was just after

taking Testim for 4 days and crashing. Avoiding those feelings at all

costs is what I am doing. So, I may go back to the dr to get a

compounding prescription or if there is a good online pharmacy that

can fill it as it is....does anyone know?

If I go with having it made, I'd appreciate a link to a tutorial for

how to do it. Thanks for all the help!

If you have a good compound near you, try it first. We use

Professional Pharmacy (check on their web site). Their specialists

in compound hormones. Good people, careful quality. Been using them

for 2 years w/o a single problem.

As for the DIM, any health food or larger vitiman outlet should

carry Indole Carbinol 3 with DIM or just a DIM. Enzymatic Therapy

makes a good product as does Natures Way DIM plus. Nature's Way is

definately cheaper. took 2 caps a day for almost 2 years and

kept his level down to the mid 30's. I see Phil tended to do better

on 1/4th the dose as . Different metabolisms I guess.

Just an FYI on DIM...men's and woman's formulas are the same in

content so if you can find only a " women's " formula don't sweat it.

I've read enough bottles to see it's a label thing, not a product

One question for you Chris....have you tried splitting your dose

insteadof using the whole dose at one time? Just curious.

You mean on line without a script? Professional has a mail

service. I'm lazy and live just 17 miles away yet still have scripts

mailed! 's script is for testosterone GEL, not cream. I asked

which is better absorbed. The Pharmasist's opinion was that the gels

tend to be some better. I know it is defiantely easier to use than a

hand full of androgel. 30 bucks a jar with a 5 dollar discount if ya

order 3 at once. We prefer jars over tubes for ease of measuring.

Did I address the worng person? Oops, sorry! Script, RX, order,

prescription...call a written medical directive whatever ya like.

Hubby's gel is 10mg/1gm. Compounds are made to order. The gel looks

kind of a milky white. At first I thought the druggist made a

mistake because it looked like my estrogen/progestrone. I compared

them and realized the difference. Gels also have that unmistakable

etoh smell. It applies to an area the size of a cookie and dries in

seconds. By volume applies .75 cc twice a day. He does better

splitting his dose.
