Earnest, I know for me the biggest reason I am not on pellets is

because of the cost, over $2000 a year, and because there is no doctor

here in my city of some 750,000, I have to travel by air to another

city to have the pellets put in. I would guess that cost alone is the

biggest reason most everyone here does not try pellets. I also

remember the painful surgery site on my butt that hurt for about a week,

and yes my doctor puts in pellets 20 times a day so yes he does know

what he is doing. But here is the real deal with your Pellets Earnest,

and that is that you get them for almost nothing out of your own pocket.

You just happen, pure dumb luck, to live in a state that includes

pellet implementaton into its hormone replacement program. I know of

NO other state, out of all remaining 49, that allows its medicare

program to pay for pellets, including the surgery. And when you really

think it, why should they? Injections are much much cheaper, and so is

paying for skin spread ons. Earnest, you are being given a Lexus to

drive when an equally functional Chevrolet is available, and if this

was pointed out to the medicare plan administration, you would likely

lose your pellet benefit. In short, it appears there is no cost

benefit analyis to hormone replacement therapy in your state's medicare

program. So, I promise not to call your state and point out how much

money they are unnecessarily paying out for you, if you promise to stop

wondering why everyone else on this forum is not on pellets like you

are. I think it is also important to point out that your pellet

therapy is paid for by hard working taxpayers, money taken out of their

paychecks. Be very, very, very thankful that human stupidity allows

you to get the best, and most expensive form of hormone therapy Earnest.

I suspect that some day your state will review what they are spending

on, and your terrific benefit will be suddenly taken away. If I could

afford pellets, I too would get them and extol their virtues.

depression...and his libido..any higher and I would have to higher a stand-in :

) )...he wants it at least 2 times day ..three if he could get it..

I already posted my costs but there are some more details of course.

If I traveled from NC to the Mayo clinic for a heart and lung

transplant, the local Medicare coverage for that area would apply, not

my home state.

Dr Greenblatt, now deceased, as well as Dr. Gambrell, were very strong

influences in Medicare's decision to cover these expenses for even

those patients that used to fly in to Augusta, GA from Hollywood, CA.

There may also be coverage for the other forms of T therapy in that

area, not just pellets. Somehow this benefit came into existence

primarily for hormone therapy patients at a time when most of the

patients were being seen in Augusta GA, and it still continues. You

may also be surprised to find out women are not given the same benefit

in the Augusta area.

It is a surprise also but I don't think there is a Medicare

organization for each state. Some how I think there are only about 30,

maybe.

You are right that major cities charge what the traffic will bear.

Dr. Lovell of Baton Rouge, LA and Dr. Charlton of Laurel, MS

do charge more reasonably I'm sure.

This probably doesn't change your view.
