Guest guest
Do any of the members here have low testosterone due to vasectomy? My post-vasectomy problems have included scarring of my left testicle and low serum testosterone (free T 6.3, total 330). I have had to start replacement therapy with Testim gel. I noticed a difference in my hypogonadism symptoms in a week. The medical literature has no studies suggesting that vasectomy can cause this but, I wonder... Guest guest
I do know of a man that has low testosterone levels do to a low graide infection he got from it. He posted to the Uro Dr. at WebMD. The Dr. told him he need a specal test done to find the infection and it would take a spechel med to cure it. He had the test down found he had this infection cured it and his testosterone levels come back up. I have heard other men say that after that after the vasectomy there testosterone levels went down. Yet there are no studys I have seen that say this. Here is a link to the WebMD site it was over 12 yrs ago I read this. http://boards.webmd.com/webx?14488 (DOT) O4zka6MTdIA.0@.5987f442 Bottom line is you need to find out why your levels are low before you go on Testosterone meds it is dam hard to figure out why your low on them. At www.allthingsmale.com read TRT: A Recipe for success in this are labs your need and why to find out why your low. Guest guest
Hey - I did a lot of research because I too had a vasectomy and wondered if it had an affect on my hypogonadism. My symptoms however started about 15 years after my vasectomy. I could not find anything that linked the two. However as Phil mentioned, some get post vasectomy infections. I had two and that probably has more or an affect. You can actually have a low grade infection and not know it. Guest guest
I had a vasectomy and it was after the operation that I began to notice a difference in myself. It took about a year and I didn't have a baseline Test measurement to go by but I'm almost certain that my vasectomy, in some way, affected my test levels. I began to have problems with memory and strength and lost interest in sex. I'm not being treated presently but am having more tests run. My last test showed total test at 328 (220-840 lab range). > > Do any of the members here have low testosterone due to vasectomy? > > My post-vasectomy problems have included scarring of my left testicle > and low serum testosterone (free T 6.3, total 330). Guest guest
I am 59. I had a vasectomy at age 25. I started having memory problems & lost interest in sex at about age 52. I have also wondered if this could be because of having the vasectomy? I am now on replacement therapy, once every other week & I saw an improvement in my overall feelings, sexual interest within a day after the first injection. I was on a jell patch first & my skin broke out in a rash. That is when I had to go to injections. Does anyone know if there are any other ways to receive the hormone treatment besides the jell patch & injections? Guest guest
I read about a low grade infection do to a vasectomy that needed a special test to find and a special med to treat this. The guy posted at the WebMD forum for Uro. His testosterone levels were very low until he found the type of infection and took the right meds to clear it up. Then his levels come back up. I have gone back to WebMD to find out more about this but it's been some yrs. and the post is gone. You can try posting there and see if you can find out anything about this. http://boards.webmd.com/webx?14488 (DOT) O4zka6MTdIA.0@.5987f442 Co-Moderator Phil > From: skywalker45_99 <skywalker45_99@...> > Subject: Re: Post-vasectomy low testosterone > > Date: Monday, August 11, 2008, 1:10 PM > I had a vasectomy and it was after the operation that I > began to > notice a difference in myself.
