Guest guest
I got that a lot using a 25g x 1 " lg. needle some times I go through a vein and will have a spot of blood but not bleeding. Norsworthy <norsworthy_david@...> wrote: I remember at the doctor's office getting my shots in the butt and afterwards I never needed a band aid. But now on my last 4 shots in the thigh, I will continue to bleed until I wipe it down and stick a band aid over it. Obviously this is not a serious issue but I'm wondering from those who inject in the thigh if they bleed a good bit afterwards or not. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
Only on the rare occasion that I hit a vein. I suspect you're shooting too far to the front of the leg. I always had the least pain going more on the side. Guest guest
Lots of factors here like are you on blood thinners or take aspirin? I get bleeders in the thigh sometimes too. Very seldom in the but however. I believe the thigh muscle is more vascular than the butt. Guest guest
the nurse always put a band aid on my butt, sometimes it did bleed because I am on an aspirin a day. However since I have been shooting in my thy I seldom ever bleed and NEVER have to use a band aid. I agree with one of the guys here too, do you shoot too much toward the front of your thy or on the side? Also I now use a smaller needle 1ml 27G1/2 " inject it in all the way.and have not bled since then. I just work up and down the thy on the side. It takes a little longer with this small needle but there is less blood and less pain. Hope this helps to answer your question. Best advise I can give you. Always remember once you are in be sure and pull back on the plunger to see if you have hit a vein, you will see some white bubbles, you know you are not in a vein. Guest guest
Well, I use a 22GA 1 1/2 " needle and I have been shooting into the top of the thigh. After I inject, I draw back a little to make sure I am not in a vein. We can't have this stuff getting into our bloodstream through a vein and get to the heart. I guess since a butt shot doesn't really get into much muscle and the thigh is a lot of muscle, maybe that's the difference. Some of the men here say yes to bleeding, some say no so I accept this as normal. Thanks for the input. Guest guest
don't shoot into the top of your thigh shoot just off to the outside of your thigh. Guest guest
-- Try a smaller needle. I use 29 gauge, 1/2 " needles and they are perfect. Very little pain, and rarely any blood at all. If I read your post correctly that you're using a 22 gauge, 1- 1/2 " needle, that has got to hurt a ton (unnecessarily) and it may also be the reason you're getting gushers. --Dave
Guest guest
Dave. Are you injecting into the muscles of the thigh? With an insulin needle? I think 22's a bit overkill for IM into the thigh (I got away with 25g, 1 " needles) but I doubt a 29g 1/2 " is actually going into deep muscle on most guys. Insulin 29g is perfect for subq, though.
