Guest guest
Ok its been about a year 1/2 since I started TRT I started with the patches, I had a good level around 700 and felt pretty good but had severe problems with adhesion of the patches and skin irritation. During the summer months when I was active outside they kept falling off so this was not working for me. On patches for 3 months. Switched to gels, I couldn't get my numbers above 400 I felt like I was on a roller coaster up and down every day, I kept moving my dose up but nothing changed. On gel 9 months. Switched to injectable started at 100mg moved up to 125mg a week levels have stabilized at around 700 slight roller coaster toward end of week at beginning took about 3 months and one increase in dose and am now symptom free and feeling great, energy levels are really good sleep good, depression good my wife and I have seen a big difference after switching to injectable T.VERY VERY HAPPY!!! Additional meds: HCG 300iu 2X week, I have been taking HCG since I started TRT and have noticed NO atrophy. I have been following Dr. s recommendation regarding HCG. Arimidex .5mg every 3rd day, I have been taking this for the last year, my E2 levels where 50 and are now stable at 30, I have no adverse sexual side affects, but I did when my levels where at 50 so this has worked out good for me. Thyroid 2grains (120mg) I was taking levoxl (175mcg) and am now taking Armour over the last month, this is still in flux in adjusting my dose gradually. IsoCort (HC) 40mg I just started taking this over the last month due to the change in thyroid medication in order to support my adrenals, and WOW I noticed a BIG change in how I feel, I use to have major hypoglycemic episodes when I was stressed doctors for years would tell me it was anxiety and take a xanax after starting the IsoCort I have yet to have any of these episodes. I understand that Hypothyroidism causes weak adrenals but I wonder how much hypogonadism affects it as well? Omega 3 I started this 4 months ago and it has reduced my triglycerides by more than 60 points! In the past year 1/2 I have taken over control of my health from my doctors who have failed me in the last ten years. I'm feeling better than I have in a decade, I'm seeing my cholesterol starting to go down, I'm starting to be able to loose weight and keep it off, I have improved my mood and depression by 100% My wife who I married ten years ago when all of my health problems started to become more noticeable keeps telling me she feels she has a new husband (and this is not in a bad way)are relationship (that was previously shaky) has turned around 180 degrees my relationship with my step-son has also done the same. I guess the point I'm trying to convey is don't ever give up and take control over your own life, if you don't feel good keep searching for the answers don't take some doctors word for it EVER. Guest guest
I feel you have a good handle on this but doing 40mgs of Isocort is a lot each little pill has 2.5 mgs of Cortisol in them the rec. dose is 8 pills = 20mgs of Cortisol are you saying your taking 16 pills of Isocort if you are you would do better to switch to Cortef doing up to 25 mgs a day. We have no Idea what is in Isocort there is Cortisol but it has more it's sheep glands. Here is a link to how I got started treating my Adrenals and Thyroid I had to go dam slow because my pituitary does not send the messages to my Adrenals or Thyroid to make enough of the hormones. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=24 ozzmed <ozzmed@...> wrote: Ok its been about a year 1/2 since I started TRT I started with the patches, I had a good level around 700 and felt pretty good but had severe problems with adhesion of the patches and skin irritation. Guest guest
NO I'm not taking 16 pills... Each pill of Iso-Cort =5mg so I'm taking 8 pills a day or 20mg cortisol supposedly. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow and am going to ask him about switching to generic cortef /(HC) is their any real difference between cortef/generic HC? I have been treating my thyroid problem for the last 10 years with T4 only meds... but just switched to Armour a month ago, I'm taking it slow starting at 2 grains and have just moved up to 3 I found it very difficult to adjust to the Armour at first without the Iso-Cort this is why I started taking it, I'm hoping to just have to use some (HC) till my thyroid numbers are back to where they should be using armour and my adrenals have adjusted to the change. I have been watching my temps... and have waited till they stabilized before moving my dose up and will keep doing this until I'm optimized.
