Guest guest
What the hell it just happened to my yeserday and I use a small needle. I checked to be sure I was not in a vein but I feel I went though a vein. Still have the knot and it is black and blue. Had this happen once getting a blood test. I sware she used a 1.5 " long needle to take the blood and it hurt the whole time she had the needle in my arm. Told her off WTF she pulled out the needle and put cotton over it in seconds it was full of blood she had to get to Dr. in to stop the bleeding. I was black and blue in the pit of my arm with a knot the size of a golf ball. I later found out she was a temp the office hired that did not know what she was doing. I shot my thigh higher about 8 " down from my belly and more near the top never again. When I pulled out the needle, it really bled. I have been taking alot of aspirin lately so my blood was thin to begin with. Anyway, after applying pressure, the bleeding quit but a large knot (hemitoma) formed about the size of an acorn. I applied some ice which helped. I was not in a vein because I checked prior to injecting. Have you had this happen and if so how often? Arkansas --------------------------------- Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
You can't help it. I have been self-injecting for two years and it happens every once so often. Press a cotton swab with alcohol and massage for about a minute. Taddeo > > I have been giving myself shots for a year now and last night was the first time I screwed up. Guest guest
I've been using a 25g 1 " or 5/8 " needle in the delt muscle (upper arm/shoulder cap)....MUCH less painful than the 1-1'2 " needle in the thigh. I'd sure like to figure out where my lateral glutes are...that's supposed to be a great place to inject. To the original poster, the large knot is upsetting, but we all end up in or through a vein eventually...I had it happen with a B-12 shot I did in my thigh...blood squirted out 6 " but stopped bleeding quickly. You should read up on the " z track " method of injection... _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of philip georgian Sent: Thursday, April 06, 2006 12:58 PM Subject: Re: Bad Shot I was using 25g x 1 " lg. to shoot in my thigh but hell man that gets old fast. If it get all red and hot to the touch, then a phone consult then maybe a trip to the doc if it turns into a abcess. I use 25 guage 1/2 inch to inject. Did hit a nerve in the leg, wow that was fun...... > > I have been giving myself shots for a year now and last night was the first time I screwed up. If you go straight through a vein you won't get anything when you aspirate but when you pull back out through the vein I would think it would bleed and probably a lot. I don't think there's anything you can do to prevent this. It's rare so you may want to go buy a lottery ticket! :-)

Guest guest
Alcohol is an astringent that helps stop the bleeding.
