Hcg probably is a good solution.

Exogenous t won't do anything good for fertility. Methods of birth

control are expected to be VERY reliable. Exogenous t is not reliable

enough to serve as a substitute for birth control.

Well, we definitely aren't looking for nor are we relying on TRT for

birth control, since that would be the opposite of what we want to do.

I take it that you think 500 IU of hcg everyday is just fine, even if

most men are taking lower amounts and not every day?

I know at least two men who had children while on testosterone therapy

so I felt compelled to comment on that aspect.

I don't know what is causing your recent change in symptoms. You may

need a dose adjustment. I would stay the course till your labs are

back. My understanding of desensitization was that it happened with

the high dose regimens (thousands of iu at a time).

What about the daily dosing? Is there any benefit compared to every

And I really don't think you should go any longer than every other day for

HCG dosing. The key, IMPO, is that the body thrives on regularity.

The lab results I posted earlier were from September and used as the

basis for the 500 IU hCG QD.

I just got in the lab results for blood take one month later...

LH and FSH were not tested.

Sept '05 Oct '05

DHT 20 (25-75 ng/dL) 48

Estradiol 13 (10-50 pg/mL) 48

DHEA 509 (110-370 mcg/dL) 491

Progesterone 1.0 (<1.4 ng/mL) no result

Prolactin 5.9 (2.0-18.0 ng/mL) no result

TSH 1.16 (0.4-5.5 mIU/L) no result

Cortisol, AM 5.1 (4.0-22.0 mcg/dL) 11.2

PSA, Total 0.6 (< or = 4.0 ng/mL) 0.8

Total T 224 (241-827 ng/dL) 784

Albumin 4.2 (3.7-5.1 g/dL) 4.2

SHBG 18 (7-60 nmol/L) 16

Free T 66 (34-194 pg/mL) 287

Free and weakly bound T 127 (84-402 ng/dL) 554

T is obviously up, but does that Estradiol seem high?

My doctor had me doing 1cc (1000iu) every other day. At first I felt GREAT. No

more anxiety, great libido, feeling of well being. That only lasted about 5

days then I started to have major anxiety, I think my E went too high.

Thinking about trying 100iu every day.

Dr .... .1cc (100iu) looks like such a tiny amount but maybe that's

all it takes. Any thoughts?

Yes, it doesn't look like much, but HCG is waaaaay more powerful than

previously thought. As I said, 100IU is a god initial dose, see how it works

for YOU.

That sounds like the pattern I'm talking about, except after 5 days

I just went more mellow, not a sudden drop, but after 3 weeks that's

when I felt like I was PMS'ing again.

My face is also redder a lot more these days. Is that relevant?

PMS'ing, yup..I know what you mean. When I was doing the 1000iu every other

day I had the red face and major hot flashes...along with the anxiety.

WF,

Actually, It wasn't a sudden drop. After about 5 days is when the anxiety came

back to the way it was and didn't have that good feeling. Then in 3-4 weeks is

when the really heavy duty anxiety started along with the hot flashes.

It's been a strange way to relate to my wife on that level, but we

both agreed that she should be the only one in our house pms'ing, and

at that only a couple days a month. Now she can no longer say I

don't know how it feels.

Dr Crisler I know you wrote a paper on using HCG along with HRT. I'v

Oh, I don't think we should discount the aesthetics of testicular size. No

guy wants to see them shrinking.

I do think HCG is the way to go. Using Clomid, or another drug of its class,

brings its own problems. Also, HCG has other benefits as well when added to

a testosterone delivery system.

Not Dr Crisler, but not sure whether he'll be back any time soon with

the unnecessary and uncalled for shots that he's taken on this forum....

Anyway, have you downloaded, printed out and read the actual HcG protocol?

If not, it's right on his front page of his web site

Isn't that amazing.

Openly published and available for free downloading.....

Anyway, read it to where you understand it and take it WITH you to

your doctor's appointment. Have certain areas underlined (like where

it talks about restoring testicle size).

As to the Clomid issue, I am pretty sure that Dr C is not a fan of

Clomid for similar functions simply because it doesn't work the same -

and has some concerns of side effects.

As I'm not too much up on it. I'd suggest to going over to the MESO

Board and joining (for free) and then using their search feature to

look for " Clomid " and see what comes up. Be sure and narrow your

search to the Men's Health section.

As to the shots, everyone reports the subq shots as being nothing. I

just started the Test Cyp IM shots and had a needle phobia to get

over. I'm into my second week now and the first shot was " nervous " and

the second shot was a little " shaky " and I'm looking forward to doing

the third shot... and the Hcg is hundred times easier as it's subq

rather than IM and uses much finer (thinner) needles.

Thanks for the support, Larry.

Yes, I have read the documents at www.allthingsmale.com, which is

why I knew objectively something was wrong, in addition to how I

was " feeling " inside. It got even more troublesome when last week

I called my doctor about this and he claimed he knew and actually

was following Dr. Crisler's protocol.

Therefore, I will ask my doctor to re-read these documents after I

inform him that I am going to go straight to Dr. Crisler from

now on.

As for Clomid, I've read about possible bad effects on eyesight.

Makes me nervous. I think hcg is good, but I had been taking

too much.

I am also mostly a lurker at the Meso board.

Thanks again.

I just got in the lab results for blood take one month later...

LH and FSH were not tested.

Sept '05 Oct '05

DHT 20 (25-75 ng/dL) 48

Estradiol 13 (10-50 pg/mL) 48

DHEA 509 (110-370 mcg/dL) 491

Progesterone 1.0 (<1.4 ng/mL) no result

Prolactin 5.9 (2.0-18.0 ng/mL) no result

TSH 1.16 (0.4-5.5 mIU/L) no result

Cortisol, AM 5.1 (4.0-22.0 mcg/dL) 11.2

PSA, Total 0.6 (< or = 4.0 ng/mL) 0.8

Total T 224 (241-827 ng/dL) 784

Albumin 4.2 (3.7-5.1 g/dL) 4.2

SHBG 18 (7-60 nmol/L) 16

Free T 66 (34-194 pg/mL) 287

Free and weakly bound T 127 (84-402 ng/dL) 554

T is obviously up, but does that Estradiol seem high?

I get bad Anxiety and panic attacks when my E2 gets to high. Yes you could try

100 IU's a day but this may still be to high. What was you TT and FT levels on

1000 IU everyday. I was doing 150 mgs. of Depo T shots every week and 500 IU's

of HCG 3 times a week but now after 6 months of this I can't control my E2 any

more so my Dr. lowered the HCG to 250 IU's like Dr. does.

more anxiety, great libido, feeling of well being. That only lasted about 5

days then I started to have major anxiety, I think my E went too high.

Thinking about trying 100iu every day.

Dr .... .1cc (100iu) looks like such a tiny amount but maybe that's

all it takes. Any thoughts?

my doctor prescribed hCG 500IU QD (yes, every day). Nothing else.

The first few weeks were great, testes had grown noticeably (they

had been quite small), libido and energy increased like I hadn't

experienced for a long time. Then at about a month into it, my

testes were smaller again, libido and energy back down, feeling

about where I had started.

I recently had another set of tests done, and will hear from the

doctor about them in about a week.

Any comments? It seems other men taking hCG are taking less and

less often. Do I need to worry about desensitization? My doctor

says taking just Testosterone is like going on birth control, and

that because my wife and I would like to have at least one more

child, hCG is the way to go.

Just would like any other informed comments.

Thanks.

Phil,

It was actually 1000iu every other day. Started this back in August and I have

not been tested since starting HCG, the high E2 was a guess on my part. I know

I should be tested but my Dr did not mention it. I have gotten more out of

this doctor than any others but he is still hard to reach and is one of these

" we'll check in 3 months " kind of guys.

One needs to be tested every 4 to 6 weeks on TRT to much can go wrong. Blood

can get to thick and so on.
