Hi I feel you not a good candidate for gels Testim or Andorgel it is not getting

though you skin. You labs for Total and Free T are way to low. When you first

went on the gel you felt good because some of the T got into your blood stream

and your levels came up. Your TT was 229 before you started the gels if I am

reading this right so when you went on the gels you may have gone up to 350 to

450. You brain went to check your T to see if you needed more seen the T from

the Gel and stopped sending the messages to your Testis the LH and FSH. So now

you fell back down and it looks like your Dr. made a big mistake by lowering you

down to 5 grams with out doing a test first. So now we have no Idea what

happened. Your TT at 159 show us your not getting the T from the gel into the

blood through your skin. And with your TT this low your SHBG and Estradiol will

be low.

I feel you need to get off the gels and try shots start at 200 mgs. of Depo T

for your first shot to jump start you and then do 100 mgs. every week getting

this tested every 4 weeks. As for the headache this could be form the stress of

your body try to keep you leveled.

Go to www.allthingsmale.com and read TRT: A Recipe for Success and the HCG

Update. I started on this last yr. and now feel the best I have in 22 yrs. on

TRT. And it this are the tests you need and why. You can do the shots your

self using a small needle like I use 27g 1ml x 1/2 " lg. needle. I shoot into my

thigh. When you get the Depo T it comes 200mgs./ml so you will only need to

draw out .5mls to do a 100mg. shot. You need to get your TT and FT up into the

upper 1/3 of your labs range for a young man then work up or down from there on

how you feel. When you find the right range you need to be there and stable for

say 2 months getting tested every 4 weeks. Then add HCG shots to keep your

Testis working and your libido up. Do a 250 IU shot on the 5th and 6th days

after your T shot. Print the TRT and show it to your Dr. and tell him you need

to try this I did best thing I ever did.

I just don't know for me I felt for the low levels of T that I had on Gels my E2

was dam high. I was at 600 now my levels are at 900 range 262 to 1593 for TT

and my E2 needs more Arimidex but my levels are 2x's as high. So I feel my

levels were not high enough and my E2 was higher for that low T levels. Dr.

feels the gels drive up E2 faster then shots. But guys tell me the shots

were worse so it must be the person.

Is it possible for someone with my levels/labs to feel completely

normal? B/c I feel responsible most of the time for the way I feel,

that if I tried harder than I could have a better mood and be

happier, and that i'm trying to use the low-T now as a crutch

almost. It would certainly be comforting if I knew that everything

that was wrong with me was biological and that there's nothing more

I can do than what I'm doing. know what i mean?

Hey jonny - my 2 cents

It doesn't look like you are absorbing well. You might want to consider

injections.

I've been on Androgel 10g for almost 3 months now. To recap my

previous posts, I felt great for the first 2 weeks on the Androgel,

then I crashed and have not felt good since mid-April. So my Dr.s

are now telling me that my mood problems are not related to

testosterone and have reccomended that I see a shrink for therapy

and antidepressants. The only problem is that I've been on

therapy/anti-Ds for ~5 years now and they have never really done

much

for me. I had some labs done recently, I'm going to post the

results, and would appreciate some feedback from all of you

veterans. When you look at these #s do they indicate that I should

be feeling the crappy way I do? It's very difficult to describe my

symptoms, I feel like there's no real way to put it into words, but

basically I feel like my personality has been stolen from me, it's

extremely uncomfortable for me to be around other ppl b/c I feel

like I can never think of anything to say to anyone, and that I

can't access anything from my memory. It's very hard for me to even

be writing this message, and when I sit down to write an email i

just don't know what to write, i've lost the ability to think and

interact. Thanks.

Hi ,

All I can say is you have a Dr. that is not up on TRT and only knows what the

drug reps tell him. A total T level of 275 is in the normal range but your in

the low 97.5% of men sampled by your lab. Your levels are normal for a man over

80 yrs. old. You need to find a new Dr. and I can tell by your post your not in

any shape to do this.

The problem is your not aborsbing the gels and your HPTA is shut down the

reason for you low LH and FSH you getting just enough T into your blood to shut

you down but not enough to get your levels of total and Free T up into the upper

1/3 of your labs range.

I feel if you went on shots starting at 100 mgs every week you would feel much

better and in a dam short time.

Go to the Files section and read Finding a Male Hormone Dr. also go to

www.allthingsmale.com and rest TRT: A Recipe for Success and the HCG update for

one of the best ways to treat Low T.

When I first got sick they told me I am suffering from Major Depression and I

was on sick leave and had to go along with this to keep my job and sick pay. I

was on this crap for 5 dam yrs. never once did I ever feel any better. Dr.'s

that do this to there patiences need there heads examined. When I was found to

have low T I had to go into a Reb-Hab Hosp. to get off all the crap for

Depression I was on.

THx. I feel like the Dr. I see is really up on this stuff and it

Do you think this place would be helpful for me:

Your story is so familiar to mine (and perhaps most here....).

I am currently on Prozac and Klonopin, but I went on medication

because of the depression and anxiety caused by undetected and

untreated low T. In fact, I went on anti-dep. meds. because of not

having enough energy or focus or interest to enjoy things.

My main sides of low T are poor memory, low concentration, no

libido/sexual interest, little drive in other things,

exhaustion/tiredness and crabbiness (not sadness). My work, social

and community life has suffered because of these low T symptoms, as

I have neither the strength, interest, confidence, wisdom or focus

to engage.

Every GP that I have seen and complained about my symptoms said I am

depressed and need more medication - WRECKLESS and CHEAP MEDICAL

CARE.

Well, I was bullshit and decided that I was no longer going to be

held hostage by GP or psychiatrists who DID NOT KNOW. I live in

Boston and found the very best research hospital and endocrinologist

that I could find. I can tell you how pleased I am.

Like you, too, I don't absorb well. You should know within 2 weeks

for sure on Androgel or Testim if you are responding (some see

progress in 3 days) - as you have seen LH and FSH production (or

your natural T) stop. I went from 314 before Androgel to 354 on 5

mgs. of Androgel and then when I went to 7.5 mgs. I dropped to 209.

YIKES. This shocked my doctor (and she also ordered a bone density

test to prove to her own mind that I had low T, as this is a side

effect of low T).

If you ARE depressed, seek good medical care quick. If the doctor

wants you to try Testim, demand to be tested after 2 weeks and let

the doctor assess you by how you feel and not ranges or a quick

label. Do you know how easy it is to hide behind depression as an

excuse from a doctor!!!! When I finally found my current doctor, I

made her promise me that she would not say this was a result of

depression, unless we really found it to be!!!

You are in charge of your medical care, so you need to be a wise

consumer and try to find the best and also keep prodding if you

don't feel any better!!!!

Blessings and feel free to contact me, as I have been where you are

for many years,

Bill

If I were you, I would find the VERY BEST endocrine doctor/practices

at either NYU, Columbia or New York Presbyterian.

You are in a WORLD-CLASS city with world-class care.

You might have to dig around - some times local magazines or

newspapers rank specialty practices like this.

You might have to wait a few weeks, but you will get cared for....

when you go, bring full copies of your existing medical record and

past blood tests and anything else you think that will be helpful to

start the ground running.

While you wait, have your existing doctor try something else or new,

so you will have that data point too.

Blessings,

Bill

Been there done that. THese are the " Top Doctors " who don't take

insurance and charge 500 bucks a visit who tell me this. THis is

what the endo told me after these last results:

" Your Free testosterone is normal and your LH and FSH are suppressed

indicating that your Androgel is working as it should. I would

suggest you continue until we meet again in 3 months. If it has no

effect by then you should discontinue. "

In our visit he told me that I should see a psychiatrist b/c my

syptoms most likely aren't connected to the T.

This has been my approach, which seems to be working:

1. Educate yourself until you know all aspects of TRT. Know the best

treatments, the proper lab tests, etc. I personally have spent

probably 80+ hours on this.

2. Utilize the incredible knowledge and experience that can be found

in this group.

3. Find a doctor who is under your insurance plan and who is

cooperative. I approached my doctor with exactly what I wanted, and

he has prescribed it every time. I am doing self-injections of T cyp,

Arimidex, and HCG.

Well I would run from this Dr. after all the shit I have heard in the 22 yrs. I

have been sick with low T. Any dam Dr. that will put someone on a gel and not

monitor him every weeks with blood tests until he is leveled off is a crime.

See me in 3 months what is he so booked he can't take care of you read the

insert that comes with the gels. It's all in there on testing. Also go to the

AACE Guildlines.

http://www.aace.com/pub/pdf/guidelines/hypogonadism.pdf

If anyone needs a psychiatrist this Dr. dose some of the worse Dr.'s I have

seen are Endo's they just don't know about low T. One of the bigest symptoms of

low T are feels for Depression. Don't buy into to this find a DR. that knows

about low T. did you go to Dr. 's site this man teachs Dr. on how to treat

this and will work with your family Dr. and treat you over the phone.

Great advice. Glad the group was helpful. That's precisely why I

contribute some of my time here.

The endo I saw before this 1, who wouldn't agree that I needed to

treat my Low-T, is 1 of the Dr.s whose name is listed as a Reviewer

on that AACE link

These were the results from the labs that he based his decision on

done back in Feb. and March. Now, are you going to tell me that he

knows enough about Low-T for the AACE to hire him to review their

own guidelines, but he was so misinformed in telling me that I don't

have Low-T problems? Maybe he knows something about all these #s

that indicates that My T is not a factor in my symptoms and that's

why I'm still feeling crappy eventhough I got another " top " endo who

agreed to treat me???? Something just doesn't make sense here, and

it seems crazy for me to now go to another endo. I am going to go

see these guys (http://www.antiagingnyc.com/about_us.htm), maybe

they'll have a different strategy that will be more helpful.

It's great advice but it's easier said than done. I've spent hours

and hours reading this site and researching this stuff, but when I'm

functioning at such a low capacity it's nearly impossible for me to

actually absorb most of it, and then when I do go to the Dr. I'm so

disconnected that I can't assert myself anyway.

You're correct. It isn't easy. It is time-consuming, costly,

inconvenient, and mind-bendingly frustrating. I don't think you need

to necessarily see an endocrinologist. A urologist might be as good

or better. Unfortunately, doc shopping is about the only good weapon

we have. You may need to make some notes for yourself to carry into a

consultation so you can fall back on them in case you get confused.

The initial goal is to ask enough questions to see if the doc is even

a possibility. If the answers aren't promising, cut it off and don't

waste time and energy. You might be able to call the office and find

out how many men are currently under the doc's care for hypogonadism.

I hope you'll take a close look at the anti-aging clinic website

before committing yourself. It looks like it might be rather costly.

Initial labs ~$600

Initial consult $695

Program maintenance fee $50/month

Followup labs 2 to 3 times/year $100 - $300

Medication $75 to $200/month

Plus they seem to emphasize compounded transdermal products which I

don't think will do you much good since you've already failed on

transdermals. I always find it troubling when a doctor steers you to

their own pharmacy instead of letting you choose for yourself.

Assuming you have the money, it might be fine. The good side is that

they'll probably have a positive or at least non-negative view of

testosterone therapy and that's a considerable benefit.

Great advice. Glad the group was helpful. That's precisely why I

contribute some of my time here.
