I was wondering if anyone here has been the recipent of these implants. I am looking forward to not having an injection every two weeks and the ups and downs of T levels, thoughts? Guest guest Posted March 9, 2007 Report Share Posted March 9, 2007 Hi Carl, I had 1700mg of T pellets put in on November 16, it cost $900 and the initial ramp up was very good, I felt great by the second week and for about 8 weeks, and by week 11 I was starting down. By the end of three months, I gave myself an injection I was feeling so lousy. It was wonderful not having to think about injections for three months. I have given it up, looks like it would run around $3000 a year or so, and that is assuming they will last four months once your body gets a build up over a couple of implants. I have been receiving hormone pellet therapy since 1991 starting with Dr. Sipi of N. Burgen, NJ. Since he passed away my doctor has been Dr. Gambrell of Augusta GA a classmate of Dr. Sipi. The Testopel pellets are a product of Bartor Pharmacal, Rye NY, if I am not mistaken. Bartor was a personal friend of Dr. Sipi and cared for settling his estate. Doctors who were trained at Medical College of Georgia have purchased pellets from for decades. Dr. Greenblat was a pioneer of hormone replacement therapy for both men and women. Check GOOGLE for all of the names I mentioned to get more confidence in your decision to go this direction. Most doctors who provide pellets do not give enough based on their reading the directions on the Testopel container which under doses patients making them unsatisfied with the product as they do not get over 800 which is the threshold where the benefits can be felt. Dr. Gambrell uses a formula as follows: Take away 30 pounds from your total weight and for every 10 pounds remaining you should receive a 75 mg t pellet. I have been limited to no more than 20 total every 4 months and that works very well for me. He is willing to talk to other endocrinologists on this subject. I had ED and figured I had found a cure when after a couple of weeks erections were fantastic and often. This lasted only a few weeks until my T level stabilized at the new high level. Dr.'s here is MI. and over the country do this to make more money if you call the Pharmacy the Dr. bought the pellets from and they told me he did not give me enough pellets. I think shots are superior to pellets myself. We've all had dosage issues and shifts. When pellets deliver too high a dose - what are you gonna do? Cut 'em out? One thing that happens is there blood can get to thick and they would need the have them removed this would be sugary.
