Guest guest
Hi everybody, Haven't been on this board in a long time. Remember Tina? Well, I just visited her two weeks ago and she is in huge trouble. According to hospice, she is in her last stages of the cancer, she is in bed and now on oxycontin. Her husband only wants her to take one dose as needed but hospice wants her to take it around the clock. The side effects of this drug is severe constipation/bowel obstruction. She is in bed and has a catheter. So, her husband does not want her to take this drug around the clock to make the side effects worse. We already have dealt with two severe bouts of constipation. Hospice sharply disagrees. They want her comfortable. Does anyone of you know what to use for bowel inflammation in this situation? Does anyone know what to do for cancer pain? I took white willow for mine when I was in that position, years ago. I visited Tina so she could get encouraged by another brain tumor survivor. Tina's mother wrote to me yesterday to ask about 'white gums'. What is up with that? I have never encountered this in 20 years of working with cancer survivors. Have any of you dealt with this? Thanks so much for your watchful eyes. Johanne
