Hello KC,

FDA approved Naltrexone in the 1980's was for drug overdose and addiction in

50 mg.

Dr. Bihari found that by reducing Naltrexone to LOW DOSE 4.5 mg it has

opposite effects. IT boosts immune system to combat disease. So all of us

with cancer take 4.5mg. But since it is approved in 50 mg we have to have it

compounded to 4.5mg by a compounding pharmacy.

Some with MS, parkinson's, crohn's and other diseases it benefits, do there

own compounding by taking the 50 mg and dissolving it, etc.

There are pharmacies who compound LDN listed on:

http://www.low dose naltrexone.org/

If you have questions you can email.

I know this was talked about recently but I've searched and searched

for the post and I cant find it.

It was discussed that there is a way to specifically compound LDN for

use with cancer as opposed to other uses. If it is not compounded this

way it would become useless.

Does anyone know which message that was or how it has to be prepared

correctly?

Many thanks. KC

Thanks everybody for the answers. I'm sorry I didnt make myself clear

before. I wasnt asking about the dosage but the filler thats used.

And- I found the answer. It has to be compounded with something that

is fast releasing or it is ineffective. thanks All!

Dee, just to clarify what you said: " So all of us with cancer take 4.5mg. But

since it is approved in 50 mg we have to have it compounded to 4.5mg by a

compounding pharmacy "

You also said, some with other diseases LDN benefits break down the 50mg pill

themselves. You did mean that everyone 'can' break down the 50 mg pill

correct?

Yes some find if difficult to get a prescription for 4.5 mg compounded and

get the generic 50 mg form. Some get it from Costco.

There is a site to explain homemade LDN:

Joe,

Get the 50 mg tablet, dissolve it in 50 ml of distilled water. From your

pharmacist get an oral dispense syringe like you use for giving a child

vitamins. Withdraw 4.5 - 5 mgs and then store the balance in the

refrigerator until the next evening.

Been doing that now for nearly 3 years. Works great.

Is it more economical to compound your own LDN? the compound cost

me $45. mo. out of my own pocket. Doesn't sound like a lot, but

between this, and all my other cancer related expenses,it's adding

up.

What does this mean for someone who is getting 50 mg caps or tabs and

doing their own compounding? Does it have to be mixed or compounded

with something to be effective? I've only seen suggestions of

dissolving it in water.

Yes those who choose to get a prescription of 50 Mg nalrexone will make up

there own with " usually " distilled water. Pharmacies will use fillers for

their compounding into capsules.

I looked up fillers for LDN and found that lactose and acidophilus are

used a lot. I ground up a tablet and drew 12 lines on the edge of a

piece of stiff card stock paper. I pushed the powder into 11 equal

piles between marks. I opened acidophilus capsules, poured out the

powder in the small end, and held it under the edge of the paper. I

pushed a little pile off into the capsule and rejoined the 2 sides.

Voila, a 4.5 g dose. Or divide into 16 for 3 g.
