Any good reason to supplement with iron?

My mom has tongue cancer among other possible cancers. She was on hospice now is

not (don't ask) I share POA with my stepfather but am trying to let him make

decisions.

Her reg dr (not onco since he stopped seeing her once she was on hospice) The

step dad is fooling himself. Anyway the dr tested her and prescribed iron

supplements. She is not anemic but has low iron levels. step dad is setting up

an appt with the onco and I will be there. I am looking into some things as he

will not do chemo yet cause she is too weak skinny etc.
