Guest guest
Hi Judi, Thank you for the beautiful story...I am coordinator for faith formation for the children at our church and will read it tonight--I was just telling myself I needed to get off the computer and get my class organized--this will be one thing I use--thank you. I read the posts from yesterday late last night. My thoughts are with each of you who is in the process of searching for answers, healing, and struggling to grow from a challenge in life that has been presented to us all. Just having one healthy baby is certainly a life change and then to add to it, twins or triplets, is quite another challenge and then add to that a baby or babies with Down Syndrome and possible health problems and dealing with the world's view and figuring how it all fits with ours as the baby's mom--Wow! I think it is quite o.k. to have any and all the feelings we have. As I reflect back (I am now five years into this experience), I think of what helped me most and still helps me. It is my faith. I put a lot of trust in the way God sees Sara--not how anyone else sees her...and I truly have never known anyone like her--she has touched me so deeply with her incredible long hugs. I can walk into a room after being gone for a while...she runs over, through and under any obstacle to get to me to give me a greeting and a hug. She pampers me--we love to comb each others hair (she hates having her hair combed when it needs to be), but when we're just playing beauty parlor--she is a great stylist. She loves her baby dolls and is so nurturing and gentle--so to watch her play is a lot of fun. I never know how she will come out of her room where her dress-up clothes are--the other day she came out with a funny hat on her head and keeping it on was an " old " (it was clean) sanitary belt she had found that was keeping her hat on. I laughed so hard. So to close this long disertation, since Sara has come into my life--I have loved deeper than ever before, I have been more frustrated than ever before, I have laughed harder and cried harder--to me that is life and without her, my life would have continued to be lived more on the surface than it is, now... Guest guest
Darlene, This is one of my favorite quotes. You may not have noticed yet, but I even used this quote at the end of one of the Victory Theory tapes. It really is wonderful. Some real food for thought for all of us. I am glad you sent it out. Guest guest
Dear Ossss, Reread the thought below, it is so true. For years I was on overcharge, had no choice, worked full time, single mom, college full time, no time for exercise or proper nutrition and now I am basically housebound, almost bedbound, have dx's that would put you to sleep trying to read them all, and am trying to crawl back to health with the help of this list and my doctor. So, Please, Please, find time to exercise properly and eat healthy. Hugs, Michele, currently unable to work and on SSDI for over 6 yrs. and expect to stay that way. -----Original Message----- From: Maskell Sent: 18 November 2001 09:34 Thought For The Day: " Those who have no time for exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness. Guest guest
Dear Michele, thanks for the reminder about exercise- it is so true! Now, I feel empathy for you in your situation and understand on some level what you are going through BUT So much in terms of illness is soooo connected with the mind. I am uncomfortable with your statement " and expect to stay that way " . What you think is what you will get! There are many good books on the Mind/Body connection and several have been mentioned in posts lately right here on this board especially by myself and by . I know you are fighting hard and we had the discussion re what a lot of meds can do - Axel's been there - but I urge you to do some reading and thinking re the Mind connection. The mind is such a powerful healer that none of us can afford to overlook. I hope you will do some affirmations, post signs reminding yourself that you are getting better! I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery.Olease keep us to date on your progress. I am sending you healing energy - and no, I am not a kook. Nonlocal healing and prayer are phenomenon (sp?) that are now proven in many studies! Guest guest
Hi Jenni, that is a great message that you shared today. I think I will pass that along to someone else today. :-) My sister in law and I are having a weight loss challenge. so I will pass that along to her. she is coming out to visit in a few months, so we are trying to see who can loose the most weight by her visit. Oh, and I LOVE starbucks too! i have been addicted to espresso drinks for years, well I do live in the northwest and we are famous for having coffee shops on every single corner! I even bought myself a machine (well I said I bought if for my husband, but it is really for me. lol). I did that so I could cut down on cost, but i still hit the starbucks once in awhile too. I went to " cash and carry " (cash and carry is kind of like a restaurant supply) and they have hundreds of sugar free syrups, so I got some of those too. they are all 0 cals. so if I do non fat milk, I can make a latte for about 90 cals. so that aint bad! You sound like you are pretty tight from your fill. I am still pretty tight too. I am really considering getting a unfill. for me it is just a matter of money right now. it will cost me almost 400 dollars for a unfill, so I have to wait a little longer. In the mean time I Just make sure I get my protien and nutrients and try not to eat things that will make me pb. I am really limited on food choices right now. i can even pb on full liquids sometimes. like, my husband and I found this fabulous little whole in the wall restaurant on the water front of Gig harbor and I had the clam chowder. OHG it was to die for! it was a heart attack in a bowl for sure, real cream, butter the works! well it didnt agree with the ole band. I ate it so slow, but ended up pb'ing in the bathroom, and then when I came back the waitress looked at me " like you arent eating the soup, dont you like it " , so I had to explain to her that I cant eat that much because I have weight loss surgery. so I asked to take the rest home. and later I was able to eat it. so i have come to the realization that I am way to tight! my goal for the band was to limit me to smaller portions, but not to limit me to 5 foods I can eat! and also a tight band tends to like stuff that is way to unhealthy. I miss fruits, veggies, and meat! I tried to eat a apple last night, with no success. so I know I need to the unfill! and to top it off, I am not loosing that much. I think the bod is in starvation mode or something! well Jenni, thanks for sharing that inspirational message. we need words of wisdom like that daily! :-) this is such a fabulous journey! it is trully amazing to be alive!!! :-) big hugs, dob 10/6/06 (342) 322/265/160 > > With this email, I have to admit an addiction that I have picked up...especially since my dear band has decided that she only likes hot things for right now...Starbucks. However, I do order it with fat free milk, sugar free syrup, and no whip cream so my calorie count is only 130 and there are actually 12 grams of protein in the grande size! So, I can justify my addiction, right? Plus, since my fill/port removal, I am only able to tolerate liquids until the afternoon/evening and they have to be hot. So, there you have it. However, that was not the sole purpose of this email. I want to share with you what the quote on the Starbuck's cup says this morning.... > > " Your body is a whole, all of its parts connected. Your body wants to be healthy. Every lifestlye choice you make has a profound impact on how you live, feel, age. Only a true understanding and appreciation of your body will enable you to live long and well. " - Weil, M.D. > > I kind of like that statement. I think I will post it on my wall at work to help me remember it. I am striving towards a healthy lifestlye which, in turn, will give me a healthy body. With the help of this wonderful lapband, I can do it!!! > > I wish for everyone a grand and glorious day! Get outside and enjoy spring! Smell a flower or two. Our skies are perfectly blue today, the flowers are blooming everywhere, the temp is about 80 degrees and it is one of those days that makes you just excited to be alive AND WELL! > > Life is GREAT! > Jenni > DOB 2/23/06 > 247/231/148/145 > 4 fills > 2 unfills > Temporarily Portless > > > > > --------------------------------- > Be a PS3 game guru. > Get your game face on with the latest PS3 news and previews at Games. >
