Guest guest
I have a DVD titled " Death Begins In the Colon. " I disagree. Dis-ease and death begin in the kitchen and at the market. What you buy to eat, and what you put in your mouth are where dis-ease and death begin. I have become convinced that eating a high bulk, low-calorie diet of many different kinds of whole foods is one of THE VERY BEST THINGS a person can do to get and to remain healthy. One reason for that I may not have mentioned in specific detail is that high bulk, low calorie foods cannot help but stimulate intestinal peristalsis, causing one to expel waste matter far more frequently than someone who eats mainly low-bulk, high calorie foods. Ever hear the expression, " Healthy as a horse " ? Ever see what a horse pasture looks like? Ever see a horse that is " backed up " intestinally? That's one MISERABLE horse! I know I shall continue eating high bulk, low calorie for the rest of my life. It's a basic of both the Budwig and the Gerson protocols, and the longer I do it, the more sense it makes. Guest guest
Hi Elliot What you say makes a lot of sense. Could you specify which particular foods you eat most of - ie what's the core of your diet? breathedeepnow wrote: I have a DVD titled " Death Begins In the Colon. " I disagree. Guest guest
Hi, . Glad to give kind of a rundown of how I eat: In the morning, first thing, I drink a large glass of water---at least 15 ounces. I have read that adding lemon juice to the water is a good idea, but currently do not do so, as it makes the water harder to drink, and after all, it is mainly the water I want to get into me, not the lemon juice. I drink as much water as I can during the day---at least a half-gallon, and preferably a good deal more than that. Usually the first thing I " eat " is a large (about a quart/32 ounces) " green smoothie " made from lots of dark green leafies, like kale, collards, chard, chicory, dandelions, lamb's quarters, purslane, spinach + fruits---apple, berries and banana. If the drink tastes " too green " I add enough banana and perhaps agave nectar(this is a sweetener that can be found at Kroger health food section or at health food stores.) I also eat, daily, about a dozen raw almonds and a handful of raw walnuts, that I have previously soaked and dried in a dehydrator, which makes for better digestability. Fairly often I eat a bowl of brown rice and/or some organic beans at some point during the day. I usually add extra virgin olive oil and granulated garlic to this. I eat lots of avocados, tomatoes, red bell peppers, and a few Medjool dates. My wife makes raw " crackers " in the dehydrator, made from vegetables and ground flax seed, and I snack on these. She also makes all kinds of " dips " from raw ingredients, and I eat the crackers with those dips. She made a delicious " no-bean " chumus the other day from zucchini. It didn't last two days! I eat mixed salads, in which I put lots of different leafies and vegetables---romaine, kale, tomatoes, onions, carrot, cauliflower, dill, cilantro, red bell pepper, spring mix, etc. We grow our own raw sprouts, and eat those by themselves, in salads and juiced in our smoothies. Currently, I take the following supplements daily: Chlorella, Red algae, Spirulina, Alfalfa, Selenium, CoQ10, Rutin, Quercitin, Fish Oil, Lecithin, Green Tea Extract, Curcumin I take the Curcumin and Green Tea Extract with a tablespoon or two of Coconut Butter, for better absorption. The Coconut Butter is also very good nutrition. Occasionally I eat baked or steamed potatoes. My wife has learned how to do some fairly sophisticated raw cooking, and she makes some excellent non-sugar desserts, as well as things like raw lasagna, raw pizza, raw burgers, etc. I had been taking plenty of powdered barley green daily, mixed in water, but may be rethinking that. I may begin growing our own wheat grass and juicing and drinking that. I have a bottle of B12 tablets and I take one of those once in a while. But I am not so completely off meat, chicken and fish that I run the risk of becoming B12 deficient. When we have company over, maybe twice a month, or if we visit friends, we usually prepare or are served some kind of animal protein, and will eat some of it. When I do eat animal protein, I take some extra alfalfa tablets to " balance it out " some. That's about all I can think of right now. It's been about 9 months since we've been eating that way, and I feel very good indeed. I continue to monitor myself to try to make sure I do not become deficient in something. Best wishes, Elliot 3:
