New to List, Husband has Multiple Myeloma

I've just joined this list; I'm a caregiver to my husband who has

multiple myeloma. We live in Cyprus. Is there anyone on this list who has been

controlling their myeloma through natural means? My husband was diagnosed in

March, after surgery for a collapsed vertebra which was compressing the spinal

cord, and is currently in remission after a combination of conventional drugs

(thalidomide, dexamethasone and zometa), the Gerson dietary protocol (somewhat

modified) and

curcumin with fish oil.

Since our medical facilities here are slim, I've been looking into going abroad

for a second opinion and for safety-net kinds of things(like harvesting and

storing stem cells - without having any plans for transplant unless things got

urgent). We do have insurance. But, we just found out that our insurance will

not cover ANY medical care ANYWHERE in the USA. Why? They say that American

medical costs are " unreasonable. " But that they would cover us anywhere else in

the world (literally) that we wanted to go. After doing some cost comparison, I

can't say I blame the insurance company. It looks like US medical costs are

about ten times what they are in the UK, for instance. Does this come with a

guarantee of greater effectiveness? After having lost five dear friends and

family members to cancer, all of whom were treated at the best institutions in

the US, I'd be hard pressed to say yes.

But, that's why we're using natural protocols. My hope is to switch

entirely to natural means at this point, although the decision

rests with my husband. I would really appreciate knowing if others have been

successful.

Thanks

LIsa
