At or about 17:26, 29/07/02 (my clock), Tishri7@... made the

following statement:

>Susie

I join in the best wishes for an uneventful and rapid recovery, Dawn.

Could you inform us why the decision was taken not to do laparoscopic

surgery?

How many stones did they find and of what size? Did they find exactly

what they had expected, or were there things that did not show up on

ultrasound?

And a general question for everyone reading this. Has anyone had their

gall bladder X-rayed--that is, using the imaging method that was almost

exclusively used before the advent of ultrasonic imaging? Did it show

anything not visible with ultrasound?

Ira, thanks. I am sorry if I gave the wrong impression. I did have

laparascopic and boy howdy, I am sure glad. It is a tough enough

recovery without having been cut open. I have new respect to any

woman who has been subjected to or required a C-section. I can't

answer most of your questions because the surgeon did not come to

talk to me afterwards! I am a little miffed and even though he is

kind of related to my husband, intend to tell him that he needs to

talk to his patients afterwards. I had a dozen questions for him, He

did talk to my husband but of course he did not ask him the questions

I had in MY mind. I saw the gb but was so drugged couldn't make much

out about it so I hope the surgeon took some notes. He made quite a

deal about my common bile duct being enlarged and blaming the

cleanses. (However, he wasn't necessarily vehemently opposed to them)

It ocurred to me yesterday that my first ultrasound BEFORE ANY

CLEANSES showed the cbd to be enlarged. So there. I will ask my

questions next week at my follow up appointment. My gb was x-rayed

with cat scan technology and showed nothing. Get this. That CAT scan

($1200) cost more than my surgeon. ($750) Anyway, if he answers my

questions next week, I'll let ya know. Dawn

Hi, so glad to hear that all went well. I have a question. I have no insurance

and may eventually need to foot the bill for my surgery (hoping all these

vitamins work, but if not...) Can you possibly send me all the costs that were

involved with your surgery?

Hi,

I had a couple thoughts after reading your post. I had GB surgery last year,

and it cost approximately $7,000... and I stayed overnight in the hospital-a lot

of people are in and out the same day-which I personally do not recommend.

Prices are going to vary from region to region, state to state. My surgeon

charged $2,600 for the surgery....I couldn't believe Dawn was only charged

$750...that does seem extremely low...but then maybe I live in an expensive

area. Also, I've learned that if you pay cash for things, you usually can get a

discount. Most public hospitals and doctors, it is my understanding, will work

out a payment schedule for you. My insurance paid 90% of the bill, so maybe I

was charged more....even though that technically is not supposed to happen.

One, stick with your doctor's post op instructions, and two, be aware that

it's normal to be depressed after surgery, and even when you " feel all

right " you can still find yourself suddenly napping, and otherwise wearing

out easily...which has to be tough with kids around.

As for learning the legal elements, I got that part down long ago in law

You just had surgery, please follow your surgeons post op orders for your

recovery. Do not go see a chiropractor, you just had surgery, you need to let

your spine heal. Most likely your MD will want you to start PT to strenghten

your muscles to support your spine.

That is the best thing you can do for yourself, gentle massage when you get the

ok is good too.

will likely give you some good advice as well, she is a surgical nurse and

knows very well the Post Op protocal.

Okay, now you have me curious. I' fine on the thin part, fortunately, but

talk to me more about strong but not muscular.

(Okay, keep in mind I'm 63...but I " m still fairly muscular, all things

I guess I should track down a PT though..I sort of skipped over this after

This person who did not give his/her name just had surgery, he / she needs to
