Guest guest
Hey Joyce, Neuropathy is no picnic. I can tell you what worked for me thus far. I do the metabolic typing food plan for my body, take specialized supplements based on my hair analysis and cancer history and aside from NAC which pulls out chemo and radiation out of your body, there is a product called Methyl B-12 1000 mcg from Jarrow Formulas that I take daily which has stopped all neuropathy for me. It works for people who have had shingles too. Have you considered your food plan and a personal supplementation schedule? Chemo has its way to deplete your body but one supplement does not serve all people. Your body is unique and looking at all that is going on helps to map out a plan for your nourishment. Blessings, Johanne From: Joyce Hi Johanne, Can you recommend a diet for a bad case of chemo-induced neuropathy in both feet? My EEG shows permanent nerve damage. Thanks
Guest guest
Hi Johanne, Thanks for responding so quickly. Someone else knew someone who got B-12 injections and it cured his neuropathy 100%. I asked my neurologist about it and she tested me for a B-12 deficiency and mine was okay, so I wasn't a candidate. Can I get Methyl B-12 from Jarrow Formulas from a health food store, or do I need a prescription? I eat anything and will check out the metabolic food plan also. Do you think I should see a nutritionist, or just get the diet via the internet? It's really great to know someone who UNDERSTANDS what I'm going thru. Guest guest
Joyce, First of all, get that B-12 supplement at www.vitacost.com<http://www.vitacost.com/> I would also want to recommend NAC from Jarrow Formulas at the same place and take it 4 times a day to detox from all that chemo. As far as the metabolic type diet, it may be of use for you to get some help but read the book first and see if this fits your lifestyle. It does a great job but for some people, it just doesn't fit and that is ok. After you have read the book which introduces you to this, you can email me and I will help if you still need it. Guest guest
Hi Johanne, I've heard of NAC one other time (a youtube video about Cantron). My dad is starting chemo on Monday. I understand that chemo is poison, and it has many unwanted side effects, so it makes sense to flush it out of the body. However, I am confused because why go through the chemo if you are going to flush it away detoxing? At what point should someone take something like NAC? How long do you leave the chemo to do it's job before you start the detox process? I imagine it's a delicate balance, but how do you know when to detox? Many thanks,
Guest guest
Oh , Brace yourself for some sad and hard days. I do not endorse chemo but if one has decided to do that, then the NAC would not be good until after all the chemo treatments have been done. I'm sorry you have to go through this. Everybody has to detox. If you change the filters in your car then it makes sense to clean the ones in your body just as often! However, the method that you choose will depend on your history. For example, somebody with a previous drug abuse history should not dive into a liver detox unless well supervised by professionals. Detoxing from chemo is very delicate as well. You need a doctor or naturopath that has experience in these things so the body is not in danger. Blessings, Johanne
Guest guest
I was taking something similar to NAC while I had chemotherapy. I remember that everyone was surprised that I had no neuropathy after the fourth round of chemo. I did get some neuropathy after the six rounds were finished, but it is gone now. Guest guest
Hi, . When I got chemotherapy between 1989 and 1990, the oncologist explained to me that cell poisons work within the first few minutes of injection. I therefore do not think you have to worry about other stuff interfering with the potency of the chemotherapy drugs. There is a very good book called " Beating Cancer With Nutrition " you might have a look at. It was written by the nutritionist for " Cancer Treatment Centers of America. " Though they are mainly mainstream, Cancer Treatment Centers of America do practice complementary medicine along with mainstream, and this particular nutritionist is not at all a run-of-the-mill type. He has a great deal of knowledge, especially about what to eat and what to supplement with concurrently with chemotherapy to both potentiate its effect on the cancer, and to mitigate against side-effects from it.
