Mickey wrote about using muscle relaxants to help her sleep. Something that has

greatly benefited me, is a deep massage every two weeks if possible, but

definately once a month. I am very fortunate to have a great bodyworker and she

has helped keep me limber and eased many a pain. If you can find someone like

this Mickey, that would really help also. It does not work immediately, but

takes time and continued massages, but so worth it!

It is odd that muscle tension should be a topic right now. I had

my rhumey appt. on Tuesday and told him that I was in more pain

now than when I first saw him 6 months ago. He did a thorough

exam of my limbs, back, neck and shoulders. He said that because

of the pain I am having with the pa I have tensed up to the point

of knots in all these areas. Sort of like 24 hour isometrics. I

was only getting a total of 2 or 3 hours of sleep at night

because of pain and tension. He is having me try 5mg of

cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxer) one hour before bed. Last night

I slept from 7 pm to 3:30 am. the most sleep I have had in

months. I feel great this morning. Not one bit stiff. I actually

woke up and stretched without pain or cringing. This may not be

someone elses relief but it worked for me. I'll have to wait to

see if it continues.

I am curious what they said about your lymph nodes being bigger than normal. Since having my surgeries the right side of my throat has quit working. Palsy of the 9th cranial nerve they call it. Anyways, I saw 2 different neurologist and neither one could say for sure why it wasn't working. However the last one did say that I had lots of lymph nodes in my neck and that some of them were large and that could be the problem but then that was it. I didn't hear another word from her!! So, the right side still doesn't work and I'm at a loss of who to see or what to do now..lol. Thanks in advance if you have any info!!

I just found out 3 weeks ago that I have a cholesteatoma. My local ENT was not sure of the extent of it and sent me to and Otolaryngologist for a second opinion. Upon looking in my ear, he stated that he didn't feel that what I have is a cholesteatoma but that it is abnormal. He forwarded my MRI DVD to the neuro radiologist who advised that it does appear to be a cholesteatoma. My neurologist ordered MRI of neck which showed all of the disks in my neck inflammed as well as the lymph nodes larger than they should be. (I am so sorry that this is so long). My Neurologist looked into my ear prior to me getting 2nd opinion and said she saw something red and slightly pulsating. My primary care doctor looked into the affected ear and said it did not appear to be cholesteatoma to him but appears to be a small mass and that it was whitish pink in color.I have had no ear pain, drainage or discomfort however since April I have been dealing with pain in my neck

and shoulders which has not been relieved by PT. The pain varies from severe stiffness to very little pain stiffness. Could this have to do with cholesteatoma? ?Each doctor said no. Anyone else have an experience with neck shoulder stiffness, pain?? Again I apologize for the length of this post.
