Guest guest
Fran, Thanks for the reference to Foot Smart. May have to put my feet into boots soon - clogs don't protect the heels from snow very well. Can still wear socks and am contemplating knitting wool socks with double strand heels. Have to see what Foot Smart might have. My main hobby has become my autoharp, it's sit-down full realm music. I can forget a lot of pain and float through the world of folk music, hymns, classics, ahh - so much music right on my lap. But my heels, toes, ball of feet are there when I stand. Was it Cheri with the backwards down the stairs - I learned that years ago when plantar fascii had a love affair with me (it wouldn't respond appropriately to rejection) and had since forgotten about it. I live on one floor and have elevators and escalators almost everywhere I go. Color me spoiled. ;-) I think that I am usually comfortable with upper body pain, but its the legs and feet that drive me wild and perhaps I'm too mobile for this disease (but it doesn't listen very well). Guess we buy old lady (mens) comfort shoes and shuffle through life being grateful we have feet to put them on. Smile through the pain, it makes people wonder about you and that can be quite entertaining!!!! JudiRose
Guest guest
JudiRose -- You have a great attitude!!! I'm an old lady and I don't care how things look to others, I have to have comfort for my feet. I think your idea for double heeled socks sounds great but I need some that let my toes stick out so the don't get too hot. It's -7 degrees here today and I have on sandals with thin socks but only when I am outside. I sure get the weird looks, it is entertaining. I envy you the autoharp. I am totally nonmusical and would love to be able to lose myself in making music. Cheri May have to put my feet into boots soon - clogs don't protect the heels from snow very well. Guest guest
Dear Judith, I’m glad you like Foot Smart. I think they are great and on the Internet site they usually have daily specials and more clearance items. When they have a shoe sale at the end of the season, they really go on sale. I’ve bought several pair of sandals at great prices. I’ve been debating on buying a set of the inserts to try and take some pressure off the bottom of my foot. My feet feel like I am walking on rocks and they cramp up constantly. My toes are turning inward and my daughter told me I have Jurassic Park toes, taking after the T-Rex hands and how their claws curl inward. At least we laugh about it and it’s better than crying. My feet wake me up all night and lately, I’ve been buying those heated pain patches and insert them in my socks. They keep my toes and feet warm for hours. The patches are supposed to last only 8 hours, but normally they last closer to 12. They are expensive, but sometimes a heat pad just isn’t possible with a cord attached. This way I can walk around and apply them right where the pain is the worst. I normally buy those at Walgreen’s but have been meaning to see if they are cheaper on line. I guess you are right about giving up fashion. Half the time, I’m in my lounging pjs anyway, since clothes get on my nerves when I’m in a lot of pain. I used to go for fashion, but now comfort comes first and probably always will these days. I feel like I have enough pain without inflicting more on myself when half the time no one even notices your feet. Anyway, let me know what you think works for you at Foot Smart. I’ve tried several of their products and the silicon toe covers are great. They help soft hard calluses that you can’t get rid of any other way. Of course, my Yorkie is always stealing them and I have to use ones with holes in them at times. Like you said, we might as well laugh. Take care and I hope you find something that helps the pain. Sincerely, Fran
